When businesses genuinely care about and listen to their customers, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m updating my review because I had a good consumer experience with the owner. Unfortunately, I have not been able to come back since my last review, but the owner of this restaurant took the time to reach out to me about my experience in a positive manner. That fact alone is worth a bump in ratings and certainly a second visit when the opportunity presents itself. Thank you, Niskers. For your passion in your craft and customers.

Food was cold when delivered and burger was burnt… my bun was black. It ruined my meal. good tastes though. 2 stars.

Awesome food, I dislike the new remodel. It is confusing, I was not sure where to sit or if I could order at the counter and eat, like in the past. It is full service now or carry out. The full service slows things down and adds extra cost to your bill(tips). Although having beer there now is a plus.

DELICIOUS-FRESH-OPTIONS– for EVERYONE! Just tried this last night for the premium char burger and OHMAHGAWD! so many delicious fresh toppings and so many different options if a bun just isn’t your thing!!! I can’t even put it words how good it was, did I mention they have a variety of sauce options as well?!? that BBQ sauce though… I’ll stop now so you can hurry up and place your next burger order here at niskers! PS who doesn’t love a burger joint that’s half bar?!? and the bar floor is a hockey rink. I’ll say no more. GO-GO-GO!

As a student and Kalamazoo native, I was really excited to see Niskers/Slapshot Hockey Bar open up. The food is delicious, I had an amazing steak poultine, that has me wanting to come back already! With prompt friendly service, and affordable options for all budgets. My husband and I will definitely come back soon for drinks at the fun bar on one of the many special days. Student discounts for draft beers and a fun atmosphere to watch the hockey games? How can I say no? Simply – delicous!

This one is easy! This is the Burger that all others strive to be. I Have been enjoying a Big Hoss with 4 pieces of American Cheese! LOL since they opened in 1986! 30 years and have never looked back. Buns are made fresh daily, and they have a GRILL!!! A Grill I tell you, when have you ever gone to a backyard BBQ and they wheeled out a Flat Grill!!! Never, we all know the only way to cook a burger is with open flames. And with Lou Nisker at the helm, and his group of well versed burger aficionados you just can’t beat a Niskers Burger. Choose your topping, choose your beverage, but if you want a real Char-Grill burger the only choice you need to make is Niskers!!! God I love this place!

My friend and I found Niskers on Unilocal and wandered in. We were greeted by the cheerful girl at the counter, and when I explained to her that we had never been there before, she took the time to carefully explain the menu to us. Niskers has a variety of delicious choices, from burgers and sandwiches to salads and desserts. They even make their own buns! I got the steak burger and my friend ordered salmon, with a side of the battered fries. The same girl was so friendly throughout our order process as we picked condiments(Subway-style). The food was divine. My friend took one bite and said, «We’re never going anywhere else to eat again!» 5 stars for AWESOME customer service and even better food. We’ll be back!

One of the best burgers I’ve had. I ordered the sunny side, which is a burger with a fried egg, cheddar and bacon on top, added chipotle sauce lettuce and onions. Just fantastic. You really need to order the batter-fried curly fries as well, they are excellent. We’ll be back for sure.

I had the sunny side up burger, hot dogs and curly fries. The fries I could live without, i found them to be too crunchy for fries — some people like it. The hotdog was on point. The burger was delicious. I will go there again.

Good burgers and fries. A little pricy though and the service is simply, order from the counter. Has a nice vibe in the place and the staff are genuinely friendly. We were looking for a great veggie burger for one half and a big juicy cheeseburger for the other half. The veggie burger was just okay and the cheeseburger was slightly above average.

Me and my girl noticed Niskers while getting froyo and decided to give it a shot. She got the grilled chicken and was impressed by the size and said it was, «amazing». I got the salmon fillet and the quality of the fish was noticeable! The fish was extremely tender and the seasoning was great! I added their home-made chipotle aioli sauce(which was good and had a spicy kick) The owner was very friendly and brought our food right to our seat. The restaurant is small but in good shape and a cozy atmosphere. The buns are also homemade and were VERY good! We will definitely return soon! :)

Delicious food — really — but a bit on the pricey side. Two burgers, sweet potato fries, and a drink was $ 17.66. Four stars for the food and very nice service; not that it was exorbitant, but the cost caught me a little by surprise.

Every Friday I go here for lunch — and they never disappoint. I always get the salmon burger with a chocolate shake, those shakes are hand dipped! Delicious. Okay, there was one disappointment. Once, I ordered a side salad instead of my shake(you know, health and all) and it was the most puny thing I’ve ever seen. Burger joints in general aren’t known for salad, so I’ll be sticking to what they know best.

I’m not a big fan of Kalamazoo restaurants as I’ve worked and managed many over the last 50 years throughout the country and found the town to be generally lacking. They suck and I’m not afraid to say that. Niskers is a huge exception. Friendly and efficient service, decent prices, and above all-a great charbroiled non-chain burger, cooked to order. If you order a medium-rare, that’s what you get. There are a couple of bars that serve a decent pub burger, but if you want a great one to take home, this is the spot. Period.

Team VP craves a locally sourced, organic, and preservative free diet. Most eateries, however do not cater to us. We were surprised when we read that Nisker’s did. Our electricity was out because of a storm, so instead of playing another round of Euchre we went for burgers. I had the vegan black bean burger. It was excellent. It’s locally made in Kalamazoo. It’s all organic and gluten free! I also splurged on regular fries, which were just okay — a little dry and way under seasoned. Mr. MVP had an organic beef burger. He said it was very good. The vegetables were fresh and very nice. He went with sweet potato fries which were excellent. As gluten sensitive eaters it’s always nice to have the option and Nisker’s even had us covered for buns. The whole meal was just 22 $, which is incredibly reasonable for a locally sourced, organic dinner. We will be back!

This place always brings back great memories from my college years. It is good to see it back and good as ever. The food is affordable, quick and quite tasty. There is a good amount of seating available inside, and it is quite clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a Hot Pepper Lou. It is a ¼ lb. burger topped with blue cheese and spicy buffalo sauce. I chose to add jalapeños and onions. It was great. The burger was tasty by itself and the toppings made it even better. I also ordered a side of gravy and cheese fries. They use curly fries. The fries are good on their own, but the gravy and cheese made it that much better. They are not good for you, but they sure did taste good going down.
