Haven’t been this impressed with a meal from start to finish in a long time. Absolutely amazing! The service, the food, EVERYTHING!

Outstanding food, service, décor, etc. Bruschetta was amazing and i had the pasta special which was red sauce mixed with Fredo sauce with Italian sausage. The dessert we had was Lavender Penna Cotta with fruit and candied macadamia nut crumbles. Unreal good. This place gets 5 stars big time. Our servers, Debbie and Anna, were excellent! If i lived here this would be my go-to Italian restaurant!

This is our favorite place for the catch of the day fish sandwich. We have had the Ahi and Swordfish, both were absolutely amazing!

This is a great find. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and most importantly, the food. The pizza is among the best I have ever tried. The meatballs have the right amount of spice. The shrimp scampi was incredible. If you like homemade Italian, this is your place.

Amazing food! Great service! We got the Pork belly Fettuccine and Isola Grande. The pork belly was excellent and it was prepared perfectly. The pineapple on the pizza was so fresh and sweet. Definitely a must go to!

Delish pesto, meatballs, tiramisu and sandwiches. I really crave it, the only problem is it’s a little pricey. Friendly people working there also.

Authentic Italian, the food is spiced, even containing salt and pepper! ;-) The staff is very polite. Specials are great. Tuesdays all bottles of wine are 50% off. The ambiente is typically strip mall lot, but don’t let that hive you the wrong impression! The food is great and portions are well sized. They pack your doggy bags for you. Credit Card payments are processed via an app on an iPad. However, they seem to use RBS as payment processor as the app calculates tips based of payment including tax(this is a RBS specific problem; tips should be calculated before tax). This is not as bad as it sounds since you can input a custom tip amount. Just be careful.

Have been to Luna now 3 times. It was recommended by a friend, and I was hesitant at first to try it — as the previous business in that location(Solamene’s) was just horrible Italian food. So I figured they were the same people just trying to reinvent themselves. SO happy to be wrong! This place is a gem, and closer than Paolo’s in Pahoa, the only other ‘real’ Italian restaurant I’d bother with on this island, personally. And they have gluten– and dairy-free options! The cream pesto arrived not as a thick pesto dish, but spiral GF pasta cooked perfectly al dente with the lightest cream sauce — tiny bits of basil and mushroom sauteed in something wonderful — simply divine. The second time, I had it again. As did others in our party that I recommended it to. One of us had the risotto, which I tasted and do Not recommend — sticky for risotto and lacked a certain ’roundness’ to the flavor.(Otherwise, I’d give this place a 5-star rating.) However on my third visit(today) — and I wasn’t that hungry — I ordered a butter lettuce salad with chevre and a tasty vinaigrette, topped with grilled fresh fish. So good! And the panacotta for dessert is over the moon. Just saying. I will continue exploring Luna’s menu as time goes on. Highly recommended.

The food was great. The service was above average. The music made me want to burn down the place. Listening to cheesy 80’s music blare from the ceiling while trying to sit down to classic Italian food just totally ruined the mood. Seriously. Please. Get this handled. Slack key guitar music or tradition Italian should be all your Pandora account has room for.

I have absolutely nothing but awesome & amazing things to say about this restaurant. The new owners have owned it for about a year & a half, they were taught all the recipes by the multi talented Ippy Aiona(Next Food Network Star season 8 finalist), who’s mom used to own the restaurant. The new owner is incredibly sweet & so talented. We had the Bruschetta, a Greco pizza, a build your own pizza with housemade sausage & caramelized onions, and the Lavendar Panna cotta with fresh & local strawberries & poha berries. This food was some of the best food we’ve ever had! I highly recommend!

First of all, I just love Waimea so any excuse to go there is as good as the next. The BF and I were in Waimea as I wanted to check out a farmers market that supposedly sells Big Island Goat Cheese. Well, there wasn’t any goat cheese at the market but we did pass by a huli-huli chicken stand that smelled out of this world so we pulled in and bought two half chickens for later that evening. We had a big breakfast before we left the house so we weren’t really hungry but when we drove past this restaurant I remembered thinking I wanted to try this place because of the reviews I had read on here and the fact that they make their pasta from scratch. I told the BF we needed to kill some time until they opened as there was no way I was leaving Waimea without trying their food. So after taking a lovely drive we came back and that’s where the magic began. First of all, the manager greeted us and sat us at our table. Our server arrived shortly after with an amazing attitude. I explained that I wasn’t really hungry but I had been dying to try this place. What I loved upon checking out the menu is that everything is sourced locally, including the bread. We started out with the Pane al Formaggio e Pesto(basically pesto cheese bread). The bread was from the bakery right up the street and sooooo yummy! You get 4 huge slices with a delicious, in house made pesto topped with mozarella cheese. I was almost full by the time we finished that but I had to try their pasta. I ordered the Ragu which came with Rigatoni noodles. I asked the server if it would be okay to substitute the pasta with linguini. I loved her answer…“of course”! she replied. The BF ordered the special pizza(the crust made in house as well). The special had bell peppers on it and he absolutely abhors them so he asked if he sub the peppers with the local mushrooms. Guess what our server said…“of course”! Now that’s what I call great customer service. Both of entrees were fantastic, although I did have to take most of mine home as I was soooo full already. The service was prompt, above and beyond courteous and the food delish. I was so impressed as we were walking out as both the server and the manager made it a point to stop what they were doing and say thank you and good bye! Talk about customer service! They were both in the middle of doing something else at that moment but it took it upon themselves to make us feel very appreciated as a customer in their store. Be sure to check it out if you’re in Waimea; it really is that good!

One of my favorite spots here in Waimea. So many different delicious entrees here it’s always a tough choice on what to order. The pork belly sandwich for lunch is definitely on point. Fresh veggies and crispy pork with the bread toasted nice and crisp. My can’t miss dinner is always the Ragu with spaghetti noodles and meat balls. The meat balls are a bit spicy but not too bad. Since the departure of Chef Mark, surprisingly Luna has yet to skip a beat. The dishes are well seasoned and full of flavor. Stop by Luna and enjoy some genuine Italian cuisine in the country.

This was our first time eating at Luna Restaurant and I literally smiled after my first bite to my very last! Best Italian food I’ve had on the big island. You can just tell how fresh everything is by the way it tastes. Highly recommend the bruschetta pomodoro. We also got the flatbread pizza that was on the specials board today(which was amaaaazing) But I’m 100% sure anything that’s on there will be delicious! The Ragu pasta was cooked to perfection as well. Everything was awesome! The service, food and ambiance! So worth the 45 minute drive from Kona! Left us with happy tummies and very satisfied! Now Go and get a happy tummy too!
