Went there for dinner last night we had four different meals and they were all gross. The nachos were flavorless and soggy, the burger came without cheese and no flavor, the chicken fried steak was soggy and limp and the chicken was blah. The rice tasted like minute rice and the salad was your basic bag lettuce. All that for $ 75. No thanks!

This was just okay. Nothing tasted fresh, from the bagged salad to the frozen burger patty. Chicken fried steak was a little better, good, even. Service was fine, waitresses all carry guns on their hips, maybe for show, maybe for real?

Was looking for a good breakfast and saw pretty good reviews for Houston’s. This time Unilocal was right. The chicken fried steak was great, as was the gravy and pancakes. Help was very friendly and efficient. Meal was so good I am going to try to make it back for dinner soon.

Extremely poor service and food. No acknowledgement from the staff when we walked in. We waited to be seated for about 5 mins while a group of staff members stood around and chatted. Finally, one of the socializers reluctantly came to seat us and took our drink order, although she never came back with our drinks. We waited about 10 more mins for the busy waitress to come around and take our order. When the food came out, the eggs were undercooked and translucent, and the hash browns were cold. After sending the food back for further cooking, the food was edible but still mediocre in quality/flavor. Save your money and go somewhere else-This restaurant needs to work on their customer service and food.

I felt like I was an uninvited guest in someone else’s house… and to be nice they gave me some leftover food and an old beer. Before we finished dinner they brought the check and basically pushed us out the door. I will never return to this establishment.

Best sausage patties from Kanab Cuts, fresh, local. Committed to return on every trip back to Kanab.

Older family run restaurant. Home cooking in a small town. Don’t expect anything fancy. The chicken fried steak with country gravy, mac and cheese and steamed veggies were all delicious! The veggies were firm, tasted fresh and steamed as advertised.(At home I cook my veggies in the microwave and it makes them a bit mushy and unevenly heated. That is not what I had here.) The atmosphere is as expected — a bit themed, older, family run non-chain. The servers were good. Friendly but not overly attentive.

Love the place. ‘Classic’ not classy. Prompt service. Friendly. Food excellent. Cowboy beans not to be missed. Usually try to eat healthy but the chicken fried steak was worthy indulgence.

Chicken Fried Steak was fantastic! Salad had the butt of the lettuce in it, not appealing. Pies looked great but to full to try one!

The service abit slow. The lady after us got the meal before us. Hmmm… Let talk about food. Order chicken breast grilled with pasta broccoli, add a soup and steam vegies. Simple the side dish is cooked using a microwave. Soup could be some campel soup and microwaved. the vegies seem microwaved too. Simply over pricing. Can be better

I used to love this place. Tonight it deserves one star! Sad! We needed a place for a 50 year anniversary and we called them last month to reserve a place. Called and verified last week and again today. Upon arrival they didn’t have a table available and wanted us split up. We finally were able to get a few tables in the back room in which we pulled together after talking with our hostess, then our server came back and not only got mad at us for moving the tables but was so rude about it that it upset our group. when I questioned why they didn’t have a place set up for us even though we reserved this a month ago. She yelled at me and stormed out of the room. Finally another server showed up and was cordial but no apology. I’m pretty sure they spit in my food the way she delivered my food. The prime rib was bad but probably worse because of the attitude they had. I give two stars because their pie’s are still great but the food deserves Zero. Grilled cheese sandwich that was toasted bread and two unmelted velveeta slices. My money deserves better then their attitude. I have choices and I choose not to return!

I still stand behind the pie but the food is ridiculously overpriced and just not good. I had the chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered a black bean burger. Neither dish had flavor. The guac was browning and the olives had a funky metallic taste. The meals had Sysco written all over them. Kanab doesn’t have a lot of dinner choices. Houston’s is off my already short list.

Recommended by our motel desk clerk, Houston ‘s Trail’s End is a great find. When in Kanab make this a destination for at least one meal. The pies, the chicken fried steak the steak tips, the bread rolls – all tested by us and served by a friendly staff. Grandpa Bob comes in daily to make his famous gravy. It’s good and lives up to it’s reputation.

We live in the area and this is the best place for breakfast in town. Have not had their lunch or supper but clean fun atmosphere. Good service and not much waiting. One of the few places that have good hours.

Excellent comfort food. We had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and Mac n’ cheese. Loved it! It totally hit the spot after a strenuous day of hiking!

Friendly staff, good food — not great but good. The desserts looked great although we didn’t try any we saw huge pieces of great looking pies being served.

We enjoyed our meals. The chicken skillet in particular was well worth it. What wasn’t worth it was the salad. Both my side salad and my husband’s salad with extras(black olives, peppers etc) were made with old iceberg lettuce, some pieces dried and others tinged brown. Definitely do not order the salad. Service was excellent and friendly! And fast.

We were seated for lunch immediately and our drink order was prompt. Our server was sweet but not very helpful when we asked about their entrees. They brought large dinners rolls. They were warm but texture was very heavy. We had to request setups. The bus girl didn’t look at us and just dropped them on our table. The taco salad was a bag of generic iceberg lettuce with no taste. The flat iron steak was tender but flavorless. there were three of us… we all ended up sharing the No 1 seller Chicken Fried Steak. We took our slices of apple pie and razzle berry pie to go. It was a good snack since we were still hungry I would come back for the pie.

To be fair, we had to get our dinner to go due to time constraints which meant it sat in styrofoam for 30 minutes. Chicken Fried Steak was good; gravy was top shelf. Mac and Cheese also very good. Chicken Broccoli Alfredo was not so good. Broccoli was under cooked. Pasta was over cooked. Chicken and sauce were rather bland.

My family and I chose to eat at this restaurant since we arrived very late in Kanab, and our dining options were limited. Let me start by saying that for such a small place I don’t understand the wait time to be seated. As I said, it was a late dinner and I am pretty sure all employees were looking forward to closing time, but that doesn’t excuse the mess on the floor. As a manager, I would fire all these employees! Not acceptable! We didn’t order anything fancy, since we didn’t expect much from this restaurant and I am glad we didn’t. All members of my family ordered well done burgers, and the patties for all of them came out almost burned. The burger was just OK, nothing good can be said about it. For the low quality food as well as the service received, I totally believe our dinner was a rip off. I had excellent food elsewhere for less money that I paid at this restaurant.

Food was very good however the 10 minute wait before we saw our server dampened the enjoyment of the meal. Service would be a 2 star and food 4 stars so I gave the average. Coconut cream pie was as good as another reviewer said and the country fried steak and veggies wonderful. Would try again, everyone has slow days.

The lady at aikens lodge recommended place for breakfast. We had a long day ahead and we wanted to stuff ourselves for a brisk hike at Zion. Had veggie omelette with pancakes. The veggies stuffed was crunchy but tasted raw. Pancakes on the other hand was so soft and yummy! Service can be improved!

Fun, friendly and talented wait staff. Dinner show is so cool, talented singers, and magician. Food was awesome! Husband had a hamburger, son had steak and I had chicken Alfredo. The best thing was their avocado fries. They also have an amazing fry sauce. Would definitely go back anytime in the area!

Was recommended by the hostess at Rocking V’s as the wait there was 40 minutes and we were in a bit of a rush. Good, well-priced food in a western atmosphere. We were seated right away, and service was prompt and attentive. Our server’s name was Shaylee, and she did a good job. I ordered the Hanger Steak sandwich, 8 ounces worth along with fries and the Cowboy Beans. Steak was perfect medium-rare, and the shoestring fries were good. Cowboy beans were kind of on the tomatoey side for me, but they weren’t bad. My wife ordered the Southwestern Chicken, which she said tasted good, but could have used a bit more punch to the seasoning. Her Mac and Cheese was good she said. Finished with Razzleberry pie split between us. Very good. I’d go back if I ever found myself in Kanab again, which I don’t expect to.
