Tiki Island

Great place for a party. The bumper boats were a big hit. The kids just loved it. All food must be purchased through Tiki Island/​Sam Adams Grill. adult food is ordered by the pan, drinks are ordered at Tiki Island. The Sam. Adams food is actually really good especially the garlic chicken. Your guest must RSVP two weeks prior to the party date because you need to get security clearance and pick up passes for them to get on base. They need to provide id info to you or to the party people to submit to the base. Something different and definitely fun. The bumber boats are like going to an amusement park.

If you are lucky enough to have access to the military bases then you really should stop by Tiki Island! There is nothing like it on the entire island. Why? Bumper Boats!!! This is so much fun! You control the boats to move around in the water and they are equipped with a squirt gun. Kids have to be 44 inches tall to go on a boat by themselves. It’s honestly something for all age groups young and old. I wish my parents (my son’s grandparents) were here… they’d really dig this. It’s unique, different and a lot of fun! After you hit the bumper boats then give one of the two 18 hole miniature golf courses a go. Plus, there are batting cages!
The only con is the hours. However, they are open during the «hot» times of the week… Friday — Sunday.
If you are concerned about lunch or snacks then please know you can get light snacks there. Plus, the Samuel Adams Sports Grill is nearby in the Golf Course Club House.

Came here on a Saturday for a little family outing. We opted for the easier course for $ 5.25 a person, you can do both courses for $ 8 I believe. Course is pretty basic, no frills sort of layout. Was expecting a bit more snaz with the whole «Tiki Island» name but it was clean and the kids enjoyed it.
We did the water bumper boats next at $ 5 a pop. You get to ride for 7 min I think? Which is more than enough time to get super soaked. I swear that my water gun was shooting too high but everyone else’s seems to hit me square in the face! Hilarious and fun but be warned you will get absolutely soaked! Like bring a change of clothes kinda soaked.
Not too much else to mention, you can have parties here and I think they cater? 300% markup for a Powerade at the snackbar, just something else I noticed… meh.

This was absolutely a delightful way to spend some time with the grandkids. They totally enjoyed it and as a result so did I. Definitely come prepared to get wet once they figure out how to use that water gun! My only «not so good» comment is that many of the golf holes were infested with ants. Other than that, I highly recommend Tiki Island. I am going to arrange to have my granddaughter’s 3^rd birthday there!

Truth be told, I thought the 7 minutes on the boat seemed more like a half hour … A tad grueling with the constant spinning BUT it wasn’t long enough for the young ones and i didn’t mind getting soaking wet but will wear waterproof mascara next time … :)

When we were there, they only had a mini-​golf course and about 4 bumper boats working. The batting cage was shut down. Budget cuts, I guess.
Although the boats were fun and you could actually soak each other with the attached water guns, you’ll be chasing each other around in what seems to be a small, kiddie pool. Wish I was joking.
The mini-​golf course is okay. Pretty basic. Jungle River’s actually way better, and I can’t stand Jungle River.
I think this place has real potential, but they’ve gotta renovate or something.
On the plus side, we were well-​taken care of by the employees. Props to them.

We had coupons for 3 hours of unlimited mini-​golf and bumper boat rides from Hot Deals Hawaii so decided to try this place. After reading some reviews about how it’s only good for kids, I wasn’t looking forward to going as we only bought it to go with my family along with our nieces and nephew. It turned out to be a lot of fun! It’s all about the attitude…
Some tips:
1. You need to stop off at the office to the right of the guard shack. You MUST have your name already on a list. The office took a little while since they said they said they didn’t receive the list from Tiki Island but luckily, one of the girls found it sitting in the tray.
2. Ride the bumper boats after mini golf since you will get wet. Bring a change of clothing. There’s no way you’ll get out of there dry. A raincoat or poncho might help. :)
3. They sell beer at the concession — yay! Maybe that’s what made it more fun?
The place:
— We went on a Friday night at about 6pm and it was nice. Very few people so we didn’t have to wait at mini golf.
— There are two 18-​hole courses and each hole is not very long in length but hills make it a little more challenging. Of course it will never compare to castle park but it was entertaining. Some holes had a bunch of black ants in the actual hole and the kids seem to be getting some sort of fibers stuck in their hand — possibly from the flag pole. They thought they were getting bitten but we believe it was some sort of splinter.
— With the bands for unlimited golf and bumper boats and no one waiting, I think we were on the bumper boats for about half an hour! You can ride with 3 people — one adult and two children so I was with my 5 year old nephew and his friend. They had a blast! The water guns are pretty strong. They do not turn down but instead arc at an angle. The angle was right in line with my brother-in-law’s head so we were constantly shooting at his head.
All in all, it was fun and well worth it! My sister is even thinking of having my niece’s birthday party there.

Looking for a good place to hold a birthday party for young keikis? Tiki Island is the place to go for hours of fun.
They have not one, but two mini golf courses. And after you work up a sweat chasing your kids all over the course, cool off in the bumper boats. You’re gonna get soaked so be sure to bring an extra set of clothes.
They have a large covered area with about 8 picnic tables, perfect for meal time. For large parties, order from the catering menu and bring containers so that your guests can all take a plate of leftovers home.
The staff is friendly, accommodating and easy to work with.

There are 3 main things you can do here: miniature golf (2 courses), bumper boats (with squirt guns so you get wet), and batting cages. However, the third one is permanently closed. So really if you come to Tiki Island, you can do mini golf or get soaked…
First off, it’s a lot of work just to get here (pre-​register all adults so you can get on base – you need to go to the pass office when you arrive right outside of the guardshack and stand in line. ALL adults need to walk into the office and give your drivers license, social security number, phone number, address, place of birth).
If you go through all that work, then it’s easy to find (near the golf course… see Lori I’s review for directions).
Lots of free parking.
MINI GOLF: there are 2 courses. Neither are very hard. No fun moving obstacles, water hazards, windmills or anything. The most exciting one might have been the hole that had a 2 story course where you had to drop your ball off the «cliff» into the final green area. There are no score cards so if you want to keep score, bring your own. It’s hot on the course, no real places for shade, and no bathrooms. But it’s small, so if you need, you can just walk back to the main area for all of those things.
BUMPER BOATS: the pool is the size of a large residential pool, and the boats are these round motorized boats that go in every which direction except straight. There are two buttons on the boat: 1) GO 2) SQUIRT. Simple enough. Must be 44 inches to ride alone, otherwise, unlucky for you, you have to go with your kid… Be prepared to get wet, starting from sitting in the wet boat. You don’t have to squirt anyone, but trust me, kids love that SQUIRT button and will love getting you soaked, so don’t bring anything you don’t want getting wet. I tried to hide my camera under my shirt in the middle of the ride and barely kept it dry…
It’s something like ~$ 5 for a 7 minute boat ride (but feel free to pull off to the side and sneak away sooner) and ~$ 5 for one round of golf. Maybe a little more. After 1 round of golf and 2 boat rides, I was done. Well to be honest, after 1 boat ride and 1 round of golf I was done…
Perfect for kids. My goodness it was like the most awesome thing for them, but for adults… I’d suggest you pay for your kids, and just see if you can supervise them without paying. You won’t really be missing out on anything.

YOU WILL GET WET. SOAKING WET. You’ve been warned.

«There are two courses you can play mini-​golf on. There’s a batting cage that wasn’t working. There were six bumper boats. My favorite part was riding the bumper boats because you can squirt water at other people while you are riding the boats to get everyone all wet. Super wet, hahahaha.»
So there you have it. From the eyes of a 3 and a 6 year old who really haven’t been around for too long or seen anything like it, this place is 5 stars.

Another gift in the form of a Groupon brought us to Tiki Island. This place is only large enough to fit two 18-​hole mini golf courses and a little pool that holds 6 bumper boats WITH WATER GUNS. When we went there were basically two attractions:
BUMPER BOATS
We used all six working boats, although I’ve heard sometimes there are only 3 or 4. You must be over 44″ to ride alone, or little ones may ride with grown ups 16yrs+. There are water guns AND YOU WILL GET WET from them. YOU WILL GET FREAKING SOAKING HEAD TO BUTT WET unless the kids you are with decide they will have a cease fire, which is highly unlikely. I have never seen my kids laugh and squeal so much before, but then again, I don’t normally let them shoot water on me over and over and over again. Are there bumper boats anywhere else on Oahu? If not, I guess this gets 5 stars.
MINIATURE GOLF
The mini-​golf course greens have been neglected, and the course is not difficult at all, which makes it nice for the little ones. There are no tricks, windmills, dragon mouths, or moving parts on any of the holes. While it is a very simple course, my son almost managed to fly his ball into the group ahead (FORE!) because the holes are so close together.
LOCATION
Tiki Island is located on the Kaneohe Marine Corp Base, at the end of H-​3 freeway. It is adjacent to the Kaneohe Klipper golf course, next to the driving range.
Procedures for civilians:
1. MAKE RESERVATIONS at least 24 hrs in advance to get your name on the list at the gate checkpoint. Look on website for hours of operation. They are sporadic.
2. Strict MILITARY BASE procedures in place at the gate. You must park, get out of your car, stand in line, and show driver’s license, insurance, registration, safety check (so don’t forget to bring it in to to avoid standing in line twice).
3. Must give your SS#, phone number, and all names of adults in your car in order to get your one time pass to get on base (took 14 min from start to finish for me).
4. Follow the road onto base, which becomes G St, then Lawrence Rd. Stay on Lawrence and turn left on Manning St. Drive towards the golf course and youll see Tiki Island next to the driving range. (the Unilocal map is wrong)
If you have younger kids, they will LOVE it. If you don’t have kids, there is a chance you may not love it, so 5 stars from the kids, 3 stars from me.

Tiki Island maybe isn’t the place to take your significant other for a night out, but it’s definitely a good place for the kids. Two different mini golf courses and bumper boats can keep the kids occupied for a while. The facility does seem to be a little in disrepair, but it’s still fun.
Note: Batting cages are permanently closed.

One of 2 or 3 batting cages on the island of Oahu. This place is great! Held a Birthday party here. I didn’t want to leave.
