I recently got a chance to attend the 10th annual Haunted Village at Windward Community college this past Friday night(10÷29÷10). This is the 10th year of the one day event, which usually occurs on the Friday before Halloween. The Haunted Village consists of a couple good attractions that totally run by school staff, students or other community groups and admission is free to the event but some attractions have a small fee. Major Attractions: Imaginarium«Night Walk Show»($ 3) It’s a cool show that takes place in the schools planetarium. You sit back and enjoy a nice visual presentation of spooky objects. The show is pretty neat when the roller coaster ride begins and you actually feel like you’re moving. It’s almost as if you were riding in a simulation ride at a theme park. It’s totally appropriate for kids and well worth the 3 $. Only about 6 showings of the 15 min ride are available for the night. Haunted Hospital($ 1) This Haunted house is organized and acted by the schools student government group. It was located in the second floor of one of the schools buildings. They made everyone sign a waiver but there was no line when the event started. The Haunted hospital took us thru 4 rooms at an old«hospital» where zombies like creatures have taken over. The«guide» played his role really well and made the whole experience more enjoyable. Each room was filled with various zombie feasting on flesh and had pretty good make up on. They used a lot of strobe lights and some props. I had a really good time and by far this is the best Haunted house value of every haunted house I’ve been to. Next year I would recommend it compared to Nightmares live or Haunted plantation. Other Attractions The event had a couple of other attractions. –costume contest/parade –weird science walk thru that is perfect for kids –2 concession stands selling hot dogs, hamburgers, spam musubi, soy beans, butter mochi, candy etc. Most expensive item was 5 $ hamburger combo. –live band –face painting table(2 $) –movie room showing old horror movies. Overall I think this is a great place to take kids to and even better if you want a cheap simple no hassle haunted house to get spooked in. Plenty of free parking available. Event goes from 6 – 8:30pm.
