always busy here because of good food and good people. great place but I got to say that the fish bowls need to go and they need to prepare food with gloves… other than that this place is a must see and if u enjoy good food and good convo come by and see L n L kaneohe bay shopping center… u won’t regret it.

What more is there to say about L&L. If you don’t know what it is then all I can tell you is that it’s a local style plate lunch place. The portions are good but the price keeps getting higher and higher. My favorite there is the BBQ Chicken and the Chicken Katsu. I do have to admit that their Chicken Katsu is a really good size for the price but that’s about it. The loco moco which is hamburger topped with eggs with gravy all over a bed of rice is good too. Their mac salad is always on point and the one thing I like about this L&L is water jug. I like to drink a lot of water with my meals and in general. They have those huge water jugs in their shop. The water is always cold and there are plenty of cups. They have seating in side and it’s really cold in there which is really nice on a hot day. The staff is friendly and they have a lot of really interesting pictures on the wall near the cash register. I would recommend eating there again and bring some friends cause there’s a lot of seating for everyone.

Calling all honeymooners — this is one plate lunch you must try! My husband and I are not big on BBQ, but after a wonderful sun drenched and activity filled day in Kailua, we found ourselves back at our hotel — the Paradise Bay Resort — without energy to venture far for dinner. L&L exceeded my expectations! The portions are huge so my small beef stew with brown rice and delicious macaroni salad was more than enough. It was delicious! My husband ordered the BBQ chicken off the healthy menu and finished every bite — after sharing a few wit me. Also, so tasty and tender! As we left, the owner started chatting us up and it came at no surprise to learn that this L&L has been voted #1 for the past 28 years! The owner takes huge pride in his work and the result is a delectable cuisine, fast turn around, and a big smile. He gifted me the coolest year of the monkey calendar — and that’s my year!

Best l&l on the island hands down. Beef curry, grilled ahi, hamburger steak, mixed bbq plate, mixed seafood plate, hamburgers, fries everything is Ono. Their fast and the uncle that either runs or owns the place is nice too. My fav place to eat. Support local especially when it’s maika’i.

Not all L and L’s are created equal. I’m sure you’ve heard that before. This one, in the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center across from the Windward Mall, is probably the best one. My daughter went to 2 other L and L’s for the chicken katsu during this winter break, but we ended up driving all the way to Kaneohe because she had to get the«good one» before going back to college. The others made the chicken well, but it’s the sauce at this L and L that makes the difference. I love everything on their menu. Portions are enormous, whether you get the mini or the regular plates, but so easy to finish off! They are really busy during peak dinner time so you might want to plan for an early or late dinner, or maybe even call it in for pick up. If you want to experience a great«local drive-in» meal, this is the place!

SAUCESAUCESAUCE the chicken katsu sauce is the main reason why I love this L&L and keep coming back. The food is by far the best out of all the L&Ls. I highly recommend this L&L. I love this place

If you’re walking into an L&L, you’re probably not health conscious, but if you don’t want to feel too guilty, then order the small rather than the large plate lunch. A small is still pretty generous. Cash only. Food service is quick, plenty of choices, and portions are big. It is heavy, greasy food. The kind your conscience will regret but that your stomach will be happy about. The chicken katsu is super juicy/fatty deep fried crispy dark meat. The saimin was pretty nice, too. I didn’t really like the staff. The lady behind the counter was kind of short, and she didn’t like that we were three and ordered only one drink. I don’t know why, though, since drinks are not self-serve so even if we had shared the one drink, the refills weren’t free anyway. We just didn’t all want drinks. She just wasn’t very patient overall and was trying to rush us when there was no one else in line at the time. This location has a good amount of tables for dine-in. The bathroom had no liquid soap, instead there was an unsettling looking clumpy and mucky bar soap.

My favorite L&L on the island. They give a good amount of food and it’s so good. The workers are friendly and that’s saying a lot especially since most L&L’s have really rude workers.

I had the healthier choice garlic shrimp and it was amazing! The mix grill with chili and macaroni is also to die for!

We came here for a quick bite as we were going around-the-island as I didn’t think our stomachs would last the drive to eat garlic shrimp at North Shore. Because this L&L is located in Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center, parking was ample — a big PLUS. I used to love to eat at L&L but have avoided this place for several years as I was trying my best to eat more healthy and L&L pretty much serves meat and CARBS. In reviewing the menu it was extensive and saw that they now have healthy alternatives such as brown rice and tossed salad. We got several plates and shared because we wanted to save room for yummy garlic shrimp plates later. The kiddies wanted chicken katsu, bbq chicken and beef and for me, I really like their lemon chicken, where the sauce comes separately. The portions were very generous and the quality was outstanding. I used to work part-time at this L&L when I was in college. This L&L is the birthplace of their chicken katsu, where it was served as a daily special. It was such a big hit that they added it on to the regular menu. Some people requested brown gravy and the next thing you know, it’s now chicken cutlet. I remember plates and plates of chicken katsu and chicken cutlet were ordered and these would monopolize the fryers. I remember they pushed back orders requiring to deep fry(i.e. fried chicken, french fries, seafood combo plates, mahi mahi) and stressed me out!!! At this L&L, there are many tables for diners to eat-in. The place is clean and well-lit so a very bright atmosphere. If I ever want to grab a bite in the Kaneohe area, this will be a place for sure to have GOODEATS. NOTES: Look at their daily specials and various side dishes offered. Because most of the plate lunches are plates of protein and carbs I was pleasantly surprised to see«side order choy sum» on their menu for just $ 3.50.

This place was overrated, Unilocalers — much better Hawaiian barbecue joints around. Not bad, but not 4 stars.

This is my favorite L&L location. It’s located between Panda Express and Sumo Ramen in the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. Service is very quick. Lunch lines or dinner lines have been long, and I’ve seen them whip right through. Also, food is always done quick and efficiently. Great, for if you don’t have a long lunch break. My favorite is the chicken katsu curry. I get the mini plate, because ALOT of food is given. The katsu is beautifully crisp, flavorful and the curry is savory and flavorful as well. It tastes like the curry they use for their beef curry as well, so if you’re on a no-red meat diet, you may want to ask about this. The price is also good. It’s about 6.50 for a mini plate, and as aforementioned, they give a lot of food. I definitely recommend stopping here for a quick but satisfying meal

L&L BBQ is super ono(yummy) this place has one of the faster turn around rates in Hawaii, The food is as I said really Ono, and the customer service isn’t too shabby.

Tried the pork cutlet for the first time in a while. Very disappointing. 80% breading 20% pork and it was burnt. I have a feeling they have a new cook. The chicken katsu I had the other day was also burnt. This is usually not a problem at this L & L. On a good note they have started selling Choi sum as a side order. Smart move, since many people are health conscious nowadays. The macaroni salad is tasty but not very healthy. They should think about selling other vegetables too, i.e. broccoli or mustard cabbage. Vegetables instead of the mac salad would be good. Cooked dark green vegetables are a much better alternative to tossed salad, lettuce having very little nutritional value.

First time at this L&L and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, speedy customer service and variety of local style plate lunches ready to go in 5 – 10 min max. The staff works as a well oiled machine meaning every employee is quick to adapt into whatever role necessary to ensure customer satisfaction. I have been sick and had just come from the doctors and picking up my medication so every minute that passed seemed like an eternity, and even at that their work ethic was impressive. It not only showed in how they treated their customers but also in the quality of their food. I had the beef stew bowl which had the perfect ratio of rice to stew which was my cure-all on a cold and rainy night. There were chunks of beef everywhere and just enough vegetables, potatoes, gravy and rice that made me devour the entire bowl and hungry for their garlic ahi. This is one plate lunch that is hit or miss at each L&L, but they nailed it. The portions were hefty and the fish was moist and fused with generous amounts of garlic which made this hands down the best location on the island for garlic ahi. The experience was great. However, it does stay crowded consistently. As mentioned before they do handle their service in a very impressive manner however it does help if you know what you want in advance.

My husband stopped in here to grab some kalua pork and cabbage while I went somewhere else to dine. I’ve been coming to this one for a while as I grew up in Kaneohe, and not much has changed. Unfortunately, thats not a good thing. I tried some of my husbands food and as always, was not impressed. I thought the kalua pork was flavorless and cabbage was too crunchy. My husband seemed to enjoy it. He said that it was juicy and had flavor. I, on the other hand, would rather get kalua pork and cabbage elsewhere.
