I have three issues with this store. 1. It is always a furnace. 2. It doesn’t seem clean. Especially the bathroom. 3. Never enough staff Otherwise, the staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable. Great sales and fabrics.

Saturday was our day to gallivant. We were headed to the Value Village Thrift Store in Kannapolis so the girls(my daughter and her friend) could find clothes to re-construct into costumes for Animazement. We spotted Hancock Fabrics from the road and decided to dropped in. Despite taking a class in high school, I can’t machine sew a basting stitch. That doesn’t stop me from loving the fabric store. Or from buying beautiful fabric I’ll need to one day find a seamstress for if I ever plan to use it. This store is a bit smaller than I thought it would be but it was fun to shop in. We were greeted happily by a store worker as soon as we entered. She asked if she could help me with anything so I asked about the one fabric I’m always looking for at every fabric store I visit. I was shocked when they had it and in lots of colors too. After I found what I wanted, I strolled the store checking out all the offerings. There was such an explosion of fun in this place: beautiful fabrics in every color and texture I could imagine; buttons in interesting colors, shapes, and sizes; accessories and small gift items like purses, pink boas, gloves, manicure sets, headbands adorned with huge blooms, and more; foam cores for sofa or chair cushions; knitting and crocheting tools: needles, hooks, yarns, stitch markers; stencils, fat quarters, and on and on and more. While I got my touchy-feely groove on with everything in the store, the girls giggled their way through the aisles, trying on stuff and taking photos. At some point I found my husband checking out pattern catalogs. We had a brief discussion about him learning to sew so he could make doggie attire.(News to me. I didn’t know he liked dogs.) I didn’t mind the short wait to get my fabric cut. I saw three employees(possibly four) in the store but between the cutting area, the cash register, and general store help, the ladies might have been a little overworked. Not that it showed. They were all pleasant, helpful, and seemed happy to be working. We were just dropping in to look but I purchased several yards of fabric and a stencil for my daughter. Prices range from less than $ 5 to ???, depending on what you’re buying. The store also has 15% off every 1st and 3rd Wednesday for seniors and a preferred customer card. They also accept competitor’s coupons. I’m in the area probably once a month and I’ll be sure to stop in again.
