While driving through Kannapolis, I stopped for lunch at the Hardee’s located near the skewed intersection of US29 and Dale Earnhardt Blvd. This fast food chain restaurant with drive thru is a good alternative to the typical McDonald’s and Burger King, which offers a good variety of thickburgers, breakfast biscuit sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, salads, fried foods, Coca Cola fountain drinks, and other items. They also have Monster Energy drinks and sweet treats(ice cream, shakes, cookies, apple turnovers). Several combo meals(sandwich, fries, drink) and value menu items are offered here at reasonable prices. Hardee’s is the sister restaurant to Carl’s Jr.(western states) with identical and similar menu items with slight variation. I decided to eat in since it was very hot outside and the place was air conditioned. I also needed to cool off and enjoy some ice cold Diet Coke(bottomless refills) from the self serve fountain. I ordered the $ 5 Everyday Meal-5 Piece Chicken Tenders, Fries, and Medium Soft Drink and 2 Hot Apple Turnovers(2 for $ 1). The lady at the register was very friendly. I was given a plastic number card, which I placed on my table and 5 minutes later, the food was delivered to me. The portion of food was small(value size), but the breaded chicken tenders were very good, hot and crispy, BBQ sauce for dipping on the side. The fries was very basic. The fried apple turnovers were very good for dessert and I saved one to enjoy with my coffee for later on. NOTED: The dining room and tables were clean, but the men’s restroom had an odor, which I needed to hold my breath while washing the grease from my hands.
