Utilizing a certificate, my Mother, Brother, and I had dinner here tonight. The experience was merely acceptable, nothing more and nothing less. A couple of years ago my brother had eaten at the restaurant with some colleagues when it was located in Downtown Concord and had spoken highly of it. Now that they are located in Kannapolis(closer to where my Mother lives), I was in town, and it is on , we decided to give it a try. I was warned beforehand that service was extremely slow and to expect up to a three hour wait. This did not deter us from venturing to eat here. We were greeted by a half-interested hostess who preferred to cut us off at sentences and sync a prescripted series of words rather than acknowledge us as actual customers(for example we were seated but then upon thanking her for the seat she just simply walked off). This set the foundation for the rest of the night. The staff(the very few we encountered, due to scarcity of their appearance) all seemed disinterested and depressed. There was absolutely nothing cheerful or inviting about the entire experience. This even included the«ambience» aka depressing(yes I mean songs meant to depress) Country music serving as the lone source of background sound available. My Mother ordered the bowl of soup(Clam Chowder) & unlimited salad($ 8), my Brother ordered the Dillinger($ 8.75), and I ordered the Cary Grant($ 15). Our orders were different from the originally intended because the restaurant menu is very different from the online one. My Mother and I were granted immediate access to the very basic salad bar. At the time the lettuce was near empty, the egg(hazardous item) looked like it had been sitting out too long and had only a few pieces left, and the dressings(clearly prepackaged) were half filled. Throughout the night the dispersion of the ingredients varied, but I will give great kudos to the croutons which were delicious. My Mother was satisfied with her meal, though she stated she would have wished for the soup to come out earlier than it did. In my own opinion, it came out with the entrees for myself and my brother, so I feel it was appropriately timed. My Brother had no complaints of his meal, a fried burger with fries. My «flank steak» was EXTREMELY fatty, but was also thicker than a traditional flank so I did not mention it as I felt it balanced it. The steak was flavourful(even if a bit dry at medium temp) and was charred on the outer edges suggesting true grilling. The problem was that the«bleu cheese» mashed potatoes had only two bites that tasted of bleu cheese [in the centre], and they were cold underneath a lukewarm steak. Receiving the check took some time and after more time, sending the check with the server and explaning the coupon and the cash accompanying it resulted in her never returning despite her owing us change. We left the additional tip and left without her ever returning to our table. This restaurant has acceptable food that is decently priced(IF you use a coupon), but the atmosphere and level of service(or lack thereofe for both) will prevent me from ever visiting this establishment again.

Great prices, great food, always a good beer selection. The Hop-a-Long Cassidy is consistently the best burger I have ever had anywhere, no exaggeration. Always cooked to order with cream cheese, hot pepper relish(not too spicy), and the PERFECT candied bacon on top. Just phenomenal. Why can’t I cook bacon like this at home?! The extra salad bar with a lot of the dinner options is really nice, too.
