They came out to the Powell Gardens Run Fast Eat Slow event. Glad they did, love the Blueberry one I had!

3 Girls truck came to my job, I bought 6 jumbo, in flavors of Red Velvet, Chocolate, and White filled cake. The frosting was oily, thick and a tad gritty. The cake was cold and dense, but a dry dense. Flavors were good, it just was a texture fail. Also packaging was odd, in a paper sack, so the frosting got everywhere.

I just heard about 3 Girls Cupcakes a week ago, so I tracked down and met their truck a couple of days ago. I bought a wide assortment so we could give several flavors a try. We loved the frosting, but in each instance the cake itself(whether chocolate, vanilla, or red velvet) was dense and rather dry… to the point of having a gritty mouth feel. Before long we were breaking off the bottom halves and tossing them away in order to increase the frosting/cake ratio for better moistness. I’ll give them another try before long to see if that experience was a fluke, and then will revise my rating either up or down depending on the results.

Great cakes is the test of a truly great cupcake. 3gc has them. Great toppings. 3gc also has this. Then add travels to you on top and you got the trifecta of the perfect cupcake to mouth. 3gc are very tech savvy. Great website of eat cupcake with picture and description is an added bonus. They do twitter, Facebook, and food truck app. You cannot not find them. If you got that special occasion and need more cakes, you can special order any cake. They are willing to work with you and are super sweet girls. Love the product and service and delivery. 3 girls cupcakes is just 3 rights.

I love the cupcake craze. I love the food truck craze. Combine two of my favorite food fads and you get this mobile cupcake company: 3 Girls Cupcakes! Finally got the chance to sink my teeth into a 3 Girls Cupcake during this month’s First Friday’s Food Truck Festival. I choose the Vanilla Lemon cupcake. It was very moist and flavorful. I have«liked» their page on facebook and plan on stalking them very soon for some more fabulous cupcakes! (This review was brought to you by the letter F)

I’m a little sad. 3 Girls came by my work before but were sold out. This time, we planned ahead and pre-ordered. What a disappointment. Perhaps over-anticipation? Grainy icing on an ice-cold cupcake. The batter must not have been stirred thoroughly as the texture was inconsistent. I bought a couple extra for family. Hope they are better and I can update this review. Update: still sad Next time I will go to the day-old bread store and buy some stale Hostess Cupcakes.

My goal is to try every flavour they make. It seems every time I go to the website, there are more and more flavours. This could be one long, but delicious, challenge.

Tried 3 Girls today. Bought a few to bring home. The cupcakes were terrible. They were bone dry and the frosting tasted like pure sugar. We sampled a little from each of the four cupcakes we bought(Cookies and Cream, Red Velvet(2), and Chocolate Raspberry), before throwing them away. It was extremely disappointing. Maybe they were having a bad day and brought us the old stale cupcakes. Either way, I would not recommend this bakery. Waste of money.

I cannot, in good conscious, review baked goods anymore. Especially cupcakes. I’m a baker and no one can do what I do. These ladies are super sweet and hard-working, though, so I almost feel bad. I do understand that it is hard to use quality ingredients and turn a profit. It is also difficult to mass produce baked goods and to have them maintain their appearance rolling around in a paper bag. Everyone else likes them, check it out for yourself.

A mobile cupcakery!!! That bops around the city delivering tasty treats at various corners and side streets? You’ve got to be KIDDING me!!! I wasn’t worried at first. I didn’t realize the danger. My experience with cupcakes has been almost uniformly disappointing. Since the cupcake craze began however many years ago, I have noted mediocrity at almost every purveyor. A cupcake should(should) consist of cake that is so good it can be consumed on its own, needing no enhancement of any kind, while the frosting should be a tasty accent, but only an accent, to that cake. Most cupcakes? Blah. Dry, tasteless cake with an unfortunately dense or loose crumb, topped by gobs of overly sweet, gunky frosting that one feels compelled to remove and discard with a glop into the trashcan. Bleck. When I walked up to this mobile cupcakery, I was expecting more of the same. I bought one(red velvet), took a bite into it, and oh, my, I knew I was in trouble. The cake was wonderful. Just the right consistency, just the right texture, and so tasty that I could have eaten several unfrosted cupcakes at one sitting(yes, I admit that). And the cream cheese frosting, it was light and airy, complementing the cake without in the least overpowering it. And it wasn’t too sweet! Praise be to the bakery gods. The entire cupcake as a whole was fantastic. I have tried several other varieties since my first visit, and they all have been just as good. I would recommend every single one of them. But if I were forced to choose one, if the thumb screws were applied, I would have to say that the snickerdoodle cupcake is divine. Try one, if you dare, but beware that if you do, you will find yourself checking the cupcakery’s schedule, then guiding your vehicle through the streets of the city, searching for the happy little vehicle. 08/18/2011: Tried the Strawberry Lemonade. Absolutely fantastic! 5 star without a doubt. In fact, this is probably the best cupcake that I’ve ever had. Yum!

The cupcakes are good. The service is better. 3GC wanders around town daily delivering cupcakes to the hungry masses. Simonie(the gal behind the wheel) has put a lot of heart and soul into her food truck, and it shows. She knows her customers, she remembers her customers, and she takes care of them. Can’t make it out? She can arrange a drive-by. Got an advance order? Send her a FB msg or a Tweet, and it’s yours. It’s hard to believe this is a one-woman show. It’s easy to believe that she does it right.

If heaven could be in your mouth, this would be it. As a woman with big hips and a healthy appetite I appreciate a good cupcake, or just cake in general. I even rode the bus from downtown to the plaza only to try cupcake a la mode(which is not even close to being as delicious as 3 Girls Cupcakes). I heard about the Cupcake Truck hours before the food truck rally on First Fridays. My friend told me about it because she was going for her first time as well, pretty big deal. My only response was a loud«WHAAAATTTT?! CUPCAKETRUCK?!» I arrived with my boyfriend in tow only to stand the longest line I have ever stood in. I am generally impatient, but this seemed worth it. We got to the front of line, ordered our cupcakes and then proceeded to do some other First Friday things. My boyfriend was rather impressed that I abstained from eating the damn things until we got home. Upon getting home I had learned that my friend did not get her cupcakes. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness. I had never felt such pity for someone. They are honestly the best cupcakes I have ever had, EVER. Anyone that says otherwise is a liar and a scoundrel. My boyfriend doesnt even like cake and he loved it. The following day I went out to the food truck rally at the roasterie in an attempt to redeem my friend. My sister and I went, paid the admission, got four free royals tickets a piece(!) and went in. We ate some delicious food, and then went to the 3 Girls truck and purchased at least ten cupcakes. My sister took two, I took two, and took six over to my friend. They had these ‘Moo’ cupcakes. TODIEFOR. No really, if I were on death row, those would be my last meal. Upon arriving at my friends house, I handed her the cupcakes and she screamed and hugged me ’til I couldnt breathe. This was all before she even ate them. Later that night, my sister called me to inform me that she ate both of hers and to never tell her boyfriend about this, because she was both ashamed and distraught that her boyfriend would not get one. Last week I called my boyfriend and told him that if he loved me he would stop playing video games, put on pants, and walk down to 10th and Main to get me a cupcake. He did, and even got himself one too. :] Simonie’s the sweetest! You can tell she really enjoys what she’s doing. Plus, it’s easy to justify buying cupcakes when some of the proceeds go to charity. This whole thing is just generally an amazing idea.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this yet! 3 Girls Cupcakes has been making regular stops right next to the building I live in downtown for a while now. For convenience, you can follow the truck on their Facebook group, Twitter, or the website. There are many ways to find out what the daily stops are going to be. I think her regular route sticks mostly to the downtown to Plaza/Westport area, although she will make requested drive-bys and deliveries. The fact that she stops right outside my door once a week is a dangerous thing. I try to ignore the siren call of her Facebook update announcing her arrival. For $ 3, you get a pretty large cupcake. There are standard flavors(Vanilla, Chocolate & Cream Cheese, Red Velvet, Cookies & Cream) but she adds special flavors every week. Some of my favorites are: S’mores, Fluffer Nutter, Caramel Apple(with actual pieces of apple in the cake), and Spotted Cow. The cake is pretty dense, but she takes out a plug of cake from the middle and fills it with frosting or filling before topping it with a ton of light, fluffy frosting. It’s not too sweet, which is the perfect complement for the flavorful cake. The cupcakes are so large that I usually cut them in half and eat the other half later after dinner. I’ve been good at resisting lately, but the day she swings by with the Mina(bully porter chocolate cupcake w/maple buttercream and chocolate covered spicy candied bacon), I’ll be the first in line!

I absolutely LOVE Simonie’s cupcakes! I bake quite proficiently myself, so it takes quality for me to be willing to part with my $$ for someone else’s baked goods — for her, I’m willing. My only complaint(and it’s not 3GC’s fault at ALL) is that they can’t «cruise» on the KS side, which is all due to more weird KS laws than you can shake a stick at. She will deliver, though … I just haven’t had an occasion requiring an order. :-(In the interim, I’ll just keep perusing her updates for stops on State Line, and drive myself over there.

Everything about 3GC is awesome! I can’t say how much I love this company enough. Simonie is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. She seems to remember everyone, even after your first visit. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I track the cupcake truck down and it makes me feel waaay better. It could just be the sugar high :). My absolute favorite part about these cupcakes is the icing. You know when you get store bought baked goods, and the icing seems to be super stiff and crunchy? There’s none of that here. Her icing is so creamy and soft, it totally melts in your mouth. It tastes exactly like homemade icing(Probably because it is!!) She offers all kinds of delicious flavors, and she mixes it up for the holidays(Blue Suede for Elvis’ birthday?! Ingenious!) but I have to say, the Vanilla will always be my favorite. It may be surprising, since most places vanilla is bland and boring. But 3GC’s vanilla is so tasty and yummy! The only bad part is she’s becoming so popular, you have to make sure to reserve your flavor! You don’t want to miss out on any of her delicious sweets! :)

3GC mobile cupcakery drives throughout the KC Metro selling her sweet treats. Weekdays at various stops throughout the day and sometimes at special events or even nighttime hot spots. You can friend her on Facebook and get an all day update on where she will be parked next. Regular stops include Grand & Pershing, Concorde Career College on Broadway, 10th& McGee, the United Way parking lot — and if you can’t get to her, you can make a shout out to add a new stop. She’ll do a drive by if she can. A jumbo cupcake $ 3. Worth every little cent. She has some standard flavors like Vanilla with Vanilla frosting, Chocolate/Vanilla, Red Velvet. Simonie has some big tricks up her sleeves and delivers us something different just about every week. Smart girl. Keeps her regulars coming back to try the next greatest thing. Some of my favs: Spotted Cow — chocolate cake, white choc cream cheese filling, topped with buttercream and chocolate chips; Dreamsicle — white cake with orange zest in there and topped with an orange buttercream(brilliant); Sock Monkey — chocolate cake, some creamy filling, topped with banana buttercream and choco chips. Girlfriend, banana buttercream is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. This woman has got a big future in cupcakes in this town. Popularity built via FB and word of mouth, she is one busy cupcake-inista. She’s sometimes sold out by or before her last scheduled stop. So catch her when you can. If you read any of my other reviews, you’ll see that I tell it like I see when it comes to cupcakes. I don’t love every cupcake. My first test of a cupcakery is how well they can bring the vanilla/vanilla. 3GC has a very nice, mighty tasty, good and vanilla-y vanilla/vanilla buttercream. Well done. I adore that 3GC is not the same flavors every week. I’ve never been a big fan of a chocolate cupcake due to one thing or the other, but Simonie has got a killer recipe, and I am happy to choose her chocolate varieties. Also 10% of her sales go to a local children’s charity, so you can feel good about your afternoon indulgence.

I’ve been watching 3 Girls Cupcakes Facebook status for weeks, yet I mostly work from home, so I could only read where their van would stop, and dream of the cupcakes inside. Last night was First Friday, something I’ve avoided like the plague, until yesterday. I only ventured to the mysterious(to me) First Friday cause there was a band I wanted to see, playing. As I was walking from one gallery to the next, I saw the cupcake van. Tah-Dah! The cupcake van I knew so well from pictures. I had intended to eat my main course at one restaurant last night, and my dessert at another, but didn’t realize that Kansas City’s ice cream stores close so dang early. But when I saw the cupcake van for 3 Girls Cupcakes, my question was solved. I approached the van’s window and felt like I was apprehending choices from an ice cream truck. Available were chocolate/white chocolate cupcakes, red velvet, carrot cake, and another(heck, it”s early, and for the life of me I don’t remember what the other cupcake was.) I had a hard time choosing, but I chose the carrot cake cupcake. The women who staff 3 Girls Cupcake were so kind and not in a rush. For me, that was good, it took a moment of thinking to decide which cupcake I would eat. This was my moment. For $ 3.00, you can get a cupcake, for $ 4.00 you can get a mini assortment. She also gave me a cool punch card, once I have 10 punches I get a free cupcake. I think the mobile cupcake bakery is so cool. incredible marketing. It must be a fun job. The cupcake itself was by far the best cupcake I’ve had in the city. The carrot cake was spiced perfectly, and the icing was complimentary and not too sweet. Very good, and the icing even, was not too sickly sweet. I guess I’ll just keep an eye out on their Facebook status or Twitter. I’m so glad I finally got to eat a cupcake from 3 Girls Cupcakes.

I have been on a search for the all around best cupcakes for the past year and have tried many bakeries around Kansas City and St. Louis. 3GC are by far the best I have found! Simonie Wilson is a shining example of excellence in customer service. She is friendly, kind, and always cheerful. It is obvious she has a great passion for what she does, and after talking with her for just a few minutes you can’t help but be excited as well. Each week she has the basics we all love; red velvet, chocolate, and vanilla, but she also has a couple bonus flavors each week so there is always something for everyone. Some flavors I’ve tried(and loved) include; chocolate peanut butter, spotted cow, strawberry lemonade, fluffer nutter, and the Elvis. 3GC’s frosting is light and very creamy. She has a great sense of just how much to add so that her flavors are never overwhelming. I recently decided to step outside of my «cupcake box» and try the strawberry lemonade cupcake which had a lemon frosting. I am not a fan of lemon, but this frosting was so light, with just the right amount of lemon in it… and well, I went back for more! I also have to mention her peanut butter frosting. It is heavenly! My only complaint would be that I am always left wanting more of it. If you are one of the many cupcake fanatics in the KC area and have not tried 3GC yet, then what are you waiting for? Check the website or become a fan on Facebook to find out where to find her. Trust me, you will not be dissapointed!

3 Girls Cupcakes(3GC) operates as a bakery for special occasions and custom orders, but where Simonie Wilson shines is the service she provides as a mobile cupcakery! She travels mainly around the downtown-midtown area during the week, over the lunch hours. Check the website for locations. I first tasted cupcakes from 3GC at the Cupcake Camp they hosted recently to raise money for charity. It was $ 5 All-You-Can-Eat cupcakes and I was in heaven! Simonie is an absolute sweetheart and she definitely aims to please. But on to the cupcakes… this review is for the cupcakes I had when 3GC was parked in The Crossroads for First Fridays. She offered jumbo cupcakes for $ 3 each and an assortment of Minis for $ 5.50. There was no question I was getting the Minis! Strawberry Lemonade(Strawberry Cake with Lemon Frosting) — good and deliciously light. It’s a very subtle strawberry which makes it a lighter treat. Chocolate Raspberry(Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Frosting) — also delicious. The raspberry frosting was more apparent than the strawberry flavor from above and complemented the chocolate quite well. Red Velvet(with Cream Cheese Frosting) — pretty good, but not the best. It wasn’t as decadent and rich as others I’ve had. Dark Chocolate(Dark Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting) — YUM. I don’t like chocolate cake, but this one made me a believer. All in all, the cupcakes were quite a treat. The cupcakes from 3GC can definitely stand up to the the cupcakery big wigs in the city(BabyCakes and Cupcake a la Mode). The cake was soft and never dry, but I feel like I’ve had better frosting. I’ve said before that frosting preferences vary from person to person, so this is not to say 3GC frosting is bad. It is really good and delightfully flavorful, but the consistency is a little too airy and whipped for me. I guess I like my frosting to have a little more heft, but I certainly will devour any of 3GC’s cupcakes if given the opportunity whether it be one or six!
