Four stars for the All Star Game! Even Mother Nature approved, with ‘cooler’ weather, a nice breeze, and cooled off enough to give me additional chills in the late innings. One star off for the lack of pitching from the AL(the one time Verlander LOSES in KC… sigh) and for blatant, public lies from a couple players. The Royals and KC did the All Star Game right! Hospitality was abundant everywhere in KC, including at Kauffman. Even though you know the employees had been run into the ground the last few days, they still smiled at you and were wonderful. Our usher @ 421, 422, 423, Camille, was amazing! She even remembered us from our days as season ticket holders, even though it’s been a couple years. The beautiful American flag put on by the fans in the stands worked out perfectly(I know how hard the VOLUNTEERS worked to get them on EVERY seat, starting at 5AM that morning). The field was beautiful, the CrownVision was perfect, and while the play on the field was less than perfect, the entertainment before and during the game was wonderful. All around town, KC put on her best face. Volunteers were abundant downtown and around turn, to help guests and locals with their needs. Even the fans were all happy and helpful to each other. It was great to see all baseball-alities represented; I saw jerseys for every NL and AL team worn by fans. Very impressive KC and Kauffman. Now, if we only had a legitimate contender for the baseball crown(no pun intended), we’d be set! :)
