We were on our way back from vacation and looking for a Mexican place. Beaches was the closest on Around Me so we decided to give it a try. Not much of a crowd for a Saturday night at 8:00 — which we were glad of. The food was very unique. We ordered the trio appetizer– all three were really too sweet for us, but good diverse flavored. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, it was good but a little sweet. My husband got the blackened fish tacos– he loved them. Others with us got the steak tacos and thought they were good. Pricing is good. But if you don’t want tacos, there aren’t many options. Nothing had any heat which we tend to like more. Service and presentation were great.

We read the great reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. What a great decision! Not only was the service fantastic, our drinks and food was amazing! The mussels have a wonderful broth and served with grilled toast. The shrimp tacos are done just right and the rice and slaw were spot on! These are as good as you get in Cabo! The pineapple salsa was fresh and tasty, and the cucumber jalapeño margarita was perfect. Don’t miss this place, you will be missing out!

The girls and I believe one was the owner were really nice. I ordered a margarita and it was tasty. I LOVE chips and salsa and the chips were amazing! They make the homemade there, nice and crispy! At first I ordered the pineapple salsa but it was two sweet for me, not bad but I like a lot of spice. They happily replaced it with the fire roasted salsa which was delish. I wish I had the appetite to eat more. I will definitely be back before I leave to go back to Charleston, SC.

My family cleaned our plates! We started with the chorizo cheese fries and wow, they were so good. The fries were covered in a generous helping of sweet and flavorful pulled chorizo, several kinds of cheeses including cotigo, delicious pickled jalapenos, slivers of fresh jalapenos, corn, cilantro and an awesome fresco sauce. I ordered the rum and cola tacos which did not disappoint. The steak was well marinated, super tender and the tacos were packed with extras. My husband ordered the fried fish tacos which more than satisfied his hearty appetite. Beaches has a whole page dedicated to their specialty tacos, so there’s something for everyone. The tacos come with a side of rice, Cole slaw or a cup of well seasoned black beans. My son had the steak tacos because he wanted ‘plain’ tacos and ended up finishing his before the rest of us. The service was very friendly and personable, I’m pretty sure the owner was running the front of the house, she was very nice. If you’re looking for amazing tacos and cheese fries, with a laid back friendly service this is a must try!

The uninspired strip mall location does not detract from the excellent fresh tacos I was able to find here(I went with the steak chimichurri), along with some decent Kona beer. Service is prompt and attentive and the space is clean. Small bar adds a nice touch. Daily drink specials add to the allure.

Beaches is kinda off the beaten path in a northland strip mall off I29 and Tiffany Springs. We’ve driven by several times and my wife suggested we try it for lunch today, I’m glad we did, as they have some interesting food combinations. The space is small, bright and seating is configured in a diagonal pattern. The server was prompt, very knowledgable concerning my food allergies, and suggested every item on the menu, which was a first… everything is fantastic, he replied… My wife had fish tacos, which included two grilled tilapia tacos, lightly seasoned with lettuce, their signature chipotle aioli, with a black bean relish and rice. The added rice was an up charge. The food had a wonderful, unique flavor my wife throughly enjoyed. I opted for the chipotle honey pork taco. Generously piled pork, was served on a warm tortilla, with sweet potatoes and rice. I had to skip the sauces due to my allergies, but the flavor a were spot on, with a touch of sweetness… alternating bites of the black bean rice combination and the tacos was a great meal. Overall, this place offers great flavors with plenty of variety to keep you coming back. Hidden gem in the northland… give it a try…

Amazing grilled tilapia tacos and jalapeño cucumber margaritas. Fresh, authentic, and exceptional flavor. Staff fun and attentive. Makes you feel like you’re on a beach somewhere far away from KC. :-)

Honestly, this place is awesome. The Cuban sandwich is my favorite. All the tacos I’ve tried are great, especially the blacked fish ones. Also the jalapeño margaritas are awesome! I would totally recommend it.

We found this to be a great restaurant. I had the jerk chicken tacos which had a pineapple salsa mixed in which were awesome! My wife had the shrimp tacos with lots of cilantro and black beans. Also delicious! They have a wide variety of beers. Tonight’s special(Wednesday) was Kona beers. Buy 1 get 1 free. I also enjoyed the Caribbean music and a nice relaxed atmosphere. This is a great place to meet friends.

Be bold. Try one of their crazy concoctions. I’ve tried about 2/3s of the taco menu and I have not been disappointed once. Amazing food and good value.

Baja style tacos. Im no foody but they do have a chef who puts together a creation on taco tuesday. All the ingredients complement each other. Best tacos ive had in town from the west side to kansas ave. in the dot.

I can sum this place up really in two words. Not bad. It’s not really outstanding either though. For starters I ordered the clam chowder. Which was pretty underwhelming. Chowder is supposed to be thick. This stuff was just the opposite. More like soup than chowder. Had decent flavor to it but honestly, I think I could find better stuff in a can at the local supermarket. Certainly didn’t rate in even the top 75% of chowders I’ve had. For the entrée I ordered the pork belly tacos. The owner told me the tacos were authentic. Inspired by what she had seen in Mexico. Well, no… Just no. Maybe like you would find in some tourist trap in Cabo that caters to American tastes but not like an authentic Mexican taco the locals would be eating. They had some froo froo shredded lettuce of varying colors that you would never see on an authentic Mexican taco. That isn’t to say they tasted bad. They were pretty good. And they were pork belly! Who has that? Cooked properly although I could have lived without the chipotle-like sauce that was on it. Sauce is something I don’t think should ever be just thrown on. Let the customer ask for it. Anyway, they were still pretty good. Although a bit pricey. Eight bucks for two tacos. I could have four better ones off the local taco truck for the same price. Although I do realize the overhead is a bit higher for their restaurant than a truck. For the side, I ordered the rice expecting it to be spanish rich or maybe something with a little flavor that I could toss on top of my taco. Nope. Just a lump of plain ol’ flavorless white rice. Blech! Service? Excellent. No complaints at all. Very fast, friendly, and attentive. Lastly, I get to the best part of the whole place. The drinks. Lots of great drink specials. Half off on margaritas on Monday. Great deal. And some of the best margaritas I’ve had. Not that super tart tasting, suck your face in margarita you get in a lot of places but just a nice smooth drink. With plenty of liquor in it. Will I be back? Probably. Not so much for the food though but the drinks.

Food and drinks were awesome. Reasonable prices and great selection. I love the beachy casual theme! We tried the chicken sandwich, bleu burger and one of their specialty tacos. Thursday is 2 for 1 drink specials. Sangria was good… not too sweet.

I’m in town on business and tried this place based on other Unilocal reviews. I’m very glad I did. I had the sweet potato shrimp and the chimichura steak tacos. Both were excellent. Food was very fresh and tasty. By itself the portion size of the tacos may have been on the small side but along with the appetizer, it was just right. Service was excellent. My server(Cesar) was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. The same can be said for the rest of the staff, very friendly. The restaurant was not very busy and the food came out pretty quickly. The place was clean and tidy on the inside. The prices were very reasonable as well. App, meal and 2 beers came to about $ 21. They were running a half price beer special on Kona when I came in. Excellent discovery. If you want a fresh & tasty meal that’s not a steak house, BBQ or chain restaurant, I highly recommend trying Beaches out.

We tried out Beaches Cantina after driving by so many times seeing a packed parking lot. Must be a good sign I thought! We went on a week night around 7:00 pm thinking we’d have a wait ahead of us, but realized there were only 3 tables full inside. Guess those cars belonged to other diners at other locations in this strip mall. This used to house Luna Azteca, a nice family run Mexican restaurant which has now relocated in a larger space in Burlington Creek off I-29 and 64th Street. Beaches has remodeled the space, painted things with a fun«beachy» vibe, reupholstered the seating and changed up the concept. It’s «beach» food I guess – tacos(many varieties), burgers, soups and salads. I heard this place was excellent from some friends, and horrible from others. Oh boy, what to do… We forged ahead. The menu is varied if you like street style tacos and burgers. If you don’t you’re probably out of luck. We had Steak Chimichurra tacos(pretty good with nice flavor), Pork belly Asian style tacos(sounded way better than they actually tasted), BLT(thick bun with lettuce, tomato and two huge thick pieces of house cured«bacon» but were the consistency of a slab of ham which was 50% fat – some people may love this but we didn’t care for it) and jerk tacos(they arrived cold). I’m not sure if it was our later arrival — we discovered they close at 8 pm on week nights! — or if was just an off night, but my expectations were much higher than the experience. It’s not super expensive(it is beach food after all) but it certainly wasn’t cheap! Taco platters came with 2 tacos and one small side(slaw, rice etc) for $ 10 – 12 and BLT was $ 10(wasn’t eaten). Small wine glass of sangria(stuffed mostly with huge chunks of oranges and other fruit) was $ 7 each. Without the fruit it was definitely half full. Maybe it’s better on the weekend but this experience was just mediocre and okay for us.

Holy cow. This place blew me away. I travel constantly, and I’m not kidding, these made my list of top 10 tacos I’ve had EVER. Bonus points for bringing something so awesome to the northland!
