I moved to Memphis less than a year ago for grad school, but I’m home for the summer and I’ve tried my best to try as many new places in KC as possible while I’m here! I was in the City Market area this afternoon and decided to give this place a try since I love Cajun/Creole food. My goodness, am I glad I did! I had a hard time deciding what to get since I usually opt for sweet beignets. I ended up going the savory route and ordered the Spicy Cajun beignet. IT. WAS. INCREDIBLE. I’ve never had anything like it before, but if you enjoy spicy foods, I would HIGHLY recommend this beignet. This place is wonderful and so affordable! I will definitely be going back next time I’m in town!

Excellent food! I love the beignets! Their sandwiches are made well and priced reasonably.

Crispy shrimp po boy: the po boy only had about 10 small shrimp on it and the shrimp were kind of on the salty side. I ordered waffle fries and they only gave me 6(literally) waffle fries for $ 4.95. Caramel and Praline beignet: The beignet was good, and quite large. I finished a little more than half as it was generously stuffed with pralines and caramel. The beignets were a little harder/crispier than I remember beignets being, but still good. Lemonade & Punch: I mixed their punch and lemonade and it was perfect. I wasn’t wowed by the lemonade or punch separately, but mixed together was a great combo. The restaurant is pretty small with only two small tables for seating and a couch with a coffee table. The décor and vibe definitely puts you in the mind frame of Nola. Once you place your order it takes about 15 minutes for the food. I think it’s a tad pricey for what you get. $ 9 for a shrimp po boy that had a handful of the smallest shrimp. $ 5 for 6 waffle fries and another $ 5 for lemonade. I will go back to try other things, but I wouldn’t order that po boy or waffle fries again.

What a great Cajun place! Sweet and savory beignets, delicious gumbo and jambalaya. There’s also fantastic macaroni and cheese for those who don’t want to be too adventurous. I can’t get enough of their watermelon and mint sweet teas — all around my favorite addition to the river market.

If you want the feel of New Orleans right here in KC, then look no further! This little place is located in the River Market area. The food is delicious, and the beignets are AMAZING! My girlfriend loves the sweet beignets, but the savory, filled beignets are also very good. The décor and seating arrangements give this an eclectic feel.

Everything here is delicious. As close to an authentic New Orleans experience as you can get in Kansas City. Unlike the sadly commercialized Jazz, this place still has the charm and ambience that you expect if the French Quarter. Try the Brie and berry beignets. Soooooooo good

I am sad to say this was our first time to visit. How did I miss this KC gem??? Truly a delightful place to get some NOLA love in KC. Husband had Muffaleta delightful and meaty. Red beans and rice meaty with Andouile and ham hocks. I had seafood gumbo rich with shrimp and crawfish. Spices spot on. Jalapeño cornbread had just enough kick and was rich and dense. Had to take to the beignets home because we were just too stuffed!!! We are in Louisiana alot but its awesome to have the atmosphere and great cuisine here in town.

I’m speechless! They’re fryin up miracles in this little shop! The menu has all things New Orleans. From traditional beignets, to fruit filled, to savory morsels of cajun cookin. Everything is made to order. I got the chocolate hazelnut because I’m a sucker for all things chocolate. Oooey gooey chocolate filling inside a hot and fluffy donut, completely coated in powdered sugar. It was simply. . d e v i n e The portion size was huge! Easily shareable between two. The cherry on top was the price. It was only $ 3! Don’t tell anyone, but I would pay $ 5 without second guessing the value. Will def be back for more!

To start, I’ve never been so sure a place deserved 5 stars. I was so pleased that I’ll tell the story. We strolled up to the surrounding area and line was already out the door, but moving quickly. I scanned the menu looking at all the choices, savory and sweet. I finalized on the vanilla cheesecake beignet. $ 3, I thought to myself, «man, that’s a good price.» We ordered, waited about 10−15…then out order was ready and we were showered with blessings. As I took the first bite all I could think about was how could this sweet fried delicious morsel be only $ 3! The second bite made me feel safe like I was napping in a hammock in the shade of palm trees on a beach. And on the third bite I knew this was a five star spot. Great atmosphere, delicious beignets, I’ll surely be back to try the savory menu

When«yay» is part of your name, is it really possible to not have a deliciously good time? When it comes to both the namesake fried morsel of heaven and this Creole oasis tucked into the menagerie of food stalls in the River Market, the answer is decidedly«absolutely not.» Beignets unabashedly top my list for favorite food of all time. There’s just something about the combination of deep-fried dough and gratuitous amounts of powdered sugar that satisfies my inner fat kid on a primal level. Ergo, Beignet has become one of my most treasured finds in the whole of KC. Having made the pilgrimage to the original and most quintessential of all beignet establishments, Café du Monde in New Orleans, I can say with certainty that Beignet more than competes with that bastion of fried dough… all without having to wait an hour in line. Let’s start with the basics. The traditional beignets are a thing of perfection. On your first visit here, you have to order a triple. If you’ve never had the pleasure of a beignet in your mouthhole, this will allow you to grasp what people mean when they have«a moment of enlightenment.» The second you first bite into this nosh of the Gods, your spirit will transcend this plane of existence, and you will truly understand why, along with the number 42, beignet is the meaning of life. When you come down from that existential awakening, then you can make your way through the rest of the menu, which is certainly no slouch in its own right. The fine folks of Beignet have thought of every imaginable sweet and savory filled variation on the traditional pastry. The best of these on the savory side is the Crusty Crab, a delectable combination of herbed goat cheese, blue crab, and the other member of the Godly pantheon of food — bacon. If you want to pretend you’re on the bayou for the day, the Cajun is also a great route to take — stuffed with a jambalaya-like concoction of Andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, candied jalapenos, muffaletta olives, and spicy cream cheese, you can practically hear the jazz music as your mouth pleasantly tingles from the spice. The sweet approach has anything you could want for dessert(or a meal… I don’t judge). Nutella, peanut butter, bavarian cream, chocolate truffle, cinnamon apple, raspberry jam… you name something that your dentist would tell you not to eat, and Beignet probably has it stuffed in dough. You can also do every one of the aforementioned flavors as a crêpe, but I have yet to deviate from what I consider the superior form. If you want to augment your New Orleans-in-KC experience, Beignet also offers the gamut of Cajun fare. Po-boys, gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, grits, and muffalettas all grace the menu… and I will someday try all of them if I can ever pull myself away from the namesake. Until that day arrives, I will continue to indulge in the hallowed fritters served at this Kansas City temple of the deep South. And you should, too.

I’ve never been to Louisiana, but my step-mother always talks to me about Café Du Monde when she visits New Orleans(she goes about twice a year) and how much she loves their Beignets. I didn’t know what they were exactly, but I always craved one when she came back and talked about how good they are. To our surprise, Kansas City sells beignets at a place called Beignets — how perfect is that?! The owners are from Louisiana and are very familiar with Café Du Monde and, rightfully so, argue that their beignets are better :) I had the traditional Beignet, of course, but also tried their Vanilla Cheesecake filled Beignet and ohhh man. instant satisfaction! I immediately felt what my step-mother had been talking about. If there is such a thing as «love at first bite», Beignet will steal your heart. Additionally, this place is located in the River Market, north corner if your back is towards the Arabia Steamboat Museum, and offers a cool atmosphere to walk around in while enjoying your beignet. They have a very Louisiana themed menu and want to go back to try their Cornbread Pancakes and Po-Boy Sandwiches. They close at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Close at 6 p.m. on Sunday through Wednesday

Yes yes yes! Very delicious and chocolatey! I got the chocolate peanut butter cup beignet. Nice store in the busy marketplace area. There is a wait(15 min) but you get a buzzer so you can walk around until it is done. An assortment of teas are also available. This treat was very sweet and delicious. Came out warm and melted in my mouth. Must try!

OOOOOHOOOOOO!!! AWESOMENESS in yo mouth! The Bavarian cream and chocolate beignet has no words to explain it. Crispy, sweet and perfect. Ohh my!!! Think funnel cake with cream and chocolate but better! Ashely from New Orleans, LA was divine! Her customer service and down to earth personality made me wanna pull up a chair and carry on a full conversation. The decorum of this place alone puts you in the mood of Naw’leans. Having family from the area, I believe puts me in the position to know what good food is. I was so impressed. I also had a fried shrimp poboy and freshly brewed tea! Delicious!!! If you have not been TRUST that you must go check them out. Prices are a STEAL! For two desserts(1 is enough for 2 people), 2 teas and 2 poboys w/chips it came to under $ 30. They are open til 8pm on Saturday but please come at least 1 hour prior! Grade A+

Quite a nice selection to choose from their sweet and savory menu. It becomes an exercise of self-control to not order too much food! My first visit was around noon lunch rush on a weekend so I would suggest avoiding this time of day. I ordered: Jalapeño cornbread — Fantastic! Crusty crab beignet — Good, but a bit bland. Vanilla cheesecake beignet — too sweet to finish it all. Second visit, I came shortly before 5pm on a Monday. The place was surprisingly empty. This time, I had the pleasure of trying the: Shrimp scampi Po Boy — Ohh yeaaah, winner! Crispy shrimp macaroni — Not bad, but I would want this more as a side item and not a big order. Sweet potato fries — Great seasoning. Cinnamon apple beignet — better than the cheesecake. Sadly, after sampling two sweet beignets, I don’t know that I’ll go for a third. They are too overwhelmingly sweet, so maybe I should try the traditional ones that aren’t stuffed or get a tart filling. All in all, though, good food and friendly service! They forgot my order of fries and ended up giving me two orders to make up for it. I like it!

I don’t know why it took me so long to go to Beignet considering how much I loved Nica’s/Lagniappe. I loved the creole offerings of Lagniappe and I’m happy to see a lot of that traveled to Beignet. I haven’t had the cheese grits here yet, but they were amazing at Lagniappe, so I’d suspect much the same here. I also liked Nica’s Mac & Cheese which is here, so that would be good too. Today I opted for the Bronx beignet(savory). It was really good. There is something a LITTLE strange about the beignet dough and a savory filling, but it somehow works. Doesn’t seem like it should, but I ate the whole thing right up and enjoyed every bite. There were a number of other savory options that looked tasty. My husband had the shrimp po boy and really loved it. All of the sweet beignet options looked like they would be amazing. I had beignets at Lagniappe and know they are good in there simplest form. Add all the tasty options they had? Certainly can’t suck! Salted Caramel and bacon or whatever it was looked really tempting. But, there was not a sweet beignet in the works for me today. I had something else in mind. Our first trip to Nica’s ended with the best dessert I’ve ever had. Every subsequent trip to Nica’s and then Lagniappe ended the same way. Walking in Beignet, I immediately scanned the menu for and was ecstatic to find Pudding Juanita. Oh, sweet, delicious Juanita! I have missed you SO hard! Pudding Juanita is bread pudding with the most deliriously delicious sauce. It is just the most sweet and tasty sauce that I can imagine existing. It is so effing good! It was everything I remembered. My husband and I are always full from our meals but we will not fail to get the Pudding Juanita. I don’t care how full you are, get the damn Pudding Juanita. You can thank me later. We will definitely be back, hopefully much sooner than it took me to get here in the first place. Lots of beignets to try, cheesy grits to have again and always there is my sweet, delicious mistress, Juanita. Bless her delectable heart!

I am trying to think about all things negative about this place but there are none! The food here is very good! I’ve been here with co-workers, ordered through Postmates delivery, date night with my hubby. I would suggest this place to anybody! My usual here is the Blue Crab Beignet-it is served with homeade chips with a light dusting of creole seasoning. The Gumbo, catfish and grits, and powdered beignets. Call ahead this place is kinda small with maybe 5 tables but more tables outside to eat. Upon entering this place you feel like you have stepped right on to Bourbon Street. Eat here!

Very good place that serves beignets, crepes, and Cajun food. The staff was very nice and helpful. We ordered a Nutella crêpe and a vanilla bean beignet. Both were very good but I enjoyed the crêpe more since it wasn’t as rich. They also have main dishes like po boys, 7 cheese Mac and cheese and other goodies. If I’m back I’ll definitely try other stuff!

I am not really sure how I have gone though life without a beignet experience. It seems unnatural. But, I am happy to have my first beignet at Beignet! Seems perfect and it was! We ordered the Cinnamon Apple stuffed beignet. It was like having a churro, funnel cake, and apple pie all in one! Delicious, though, I wish I would have stuck with beignets… We also ordered the Shrimp & Grits and Chicken & Grits being that this is a New Orleans inspired place and Louisiana being part of «The Grits Belt»(it’s a thing… I read about it on the interwebz). I am not too sure but my guess is they don’t microwave their grits in The Grits Belt. Super hot on the outside, perfect temp in the middle, and some microwave cheese scars equals a microwave job. The grits tasted great except for the nuked cheesy parts. The chicken was good but there was only a few pieces and they were pretty small. Overall it was a yummy dish but next time I am here I would try something else… or just get 3 stuffed Beignets and call it a day!

Small restaurant in the Downtown Market that serves beignets, crepes, and po boys. You can get the shrimp po boy grilled or fried, I tried it grilled at the cashier’s suggestion. GREAT * Chocolate Bavarian Cream Beignet — Deep fried pastry filled with chocolate and custard cream and dusted in powdered sugar. Great slightly crunchy outside filled with warm gooey chocolate and custard. Delicious. But make sure you eat it before it cools down. GOOD * Grilled shrimp po boy — Had a good amount of tasty grilled shrimp on it, and they used some zesty Italian sauce. Quite tasty, but messy and the Italian sauce was burning a cut I had on my lip.
