Terrific service, delicious and well-made cocktails. The Jazz was stellar and the atmosphere exactly what one would expect and hope for in a Jazz-influenced/classy establishment as such.

We were waiting for another venue to open so decided to stop in here for a drink. Granted, maybe 6 is a bit too early for this venue, but I’m not sure I’ll want to go back even during regular hours. It’s dark, and though I understand that seems to be the theme for Jazz clubs, it’s just not my taste. The drinks were just so so. The bartender was nice, but because they weren’t very busy, he was a bit preoccupied with all things other than tending bar. Looking at the other reviews, perhaps maybe we were just in on an «off» night?

The music gets 5 stars — from the talent to the sound quality. But the food is terrible. Everything tastes like it came from the costco freezer section. Go there for the music NOT the food. I went on Valentines Day and paid $ 60 /a person for a tiny saład, over cooked salmon with cold broccoli and cheesecake that was still frozen(and had strawberry daiquiri mix as the topping). Again — eat some where else but go here for the incredible music.

We scheduled a group dinner for several friends this past Friday night, not realizing it would be the first night of Restaurant Week. We’d called a few times for the reservation, only to find out they’d been closed for a few days for renovations. They gladly accepted our reservation and our request to be sat somewhere away from the music — we know our group can get kinda noisey and didn’t want to detract from the entertainment. We arrived a few minutes before 8pm and the venue was already filling up. Our table was ready and the staff and service both very friendly and accomodating to our needs. We had fewer turn up than expected, but weren’t made to feel like a nuisance. My girlfriend and I both ordered the stacked Eggplant parmesan, which was pretty amazing, with layers of pesto between two golden Eggplant rounds, on top of a bed of angel-hair spagehtti. Everyone else seemed very pleased with their meals as well, and the live jazz music in the background was a nice setting for our conversation. Thanks again Broadway Jazz Club, we really appreciated the great job hosting our little group on such a busy night!

I went on a Saturday night before Christmas and this was my first ever live Jazz experience. The musicians were excellent, the staff friendly and the owner greeted me at the front door. Had the healthy snack option and went with the asparagus which was delicious. Amazing vibe and thanks for a great experience.

Went there on a Friday to see live music. The music was great. The service was slow. It took 20 minutes to get a beer to my table and they were not busy. I watched the bartender clean glasses. We stayed two hours and couldn’t even get the check to pay and leave so just left the money on the table and walked out.

Great music, great food and a great atmosphere. My first experience here was on Halloween. I had a fantastic time and couldn’t wait to come back. Having now visited on a non-holiday, I can be confident that it wasn’t a fluke. First off, no cover. For a venue with live music every night, that’s awesome. And the music is really really good. A great variety of jazz, and both times I’ve been there is was a good mix of instrumental and stuff with vocals. If nothing else, go for the music. Next– the food. Fantastic. If you’ve ever been to Green Lady, it’s pretty much the opposite as far as food goes. Lots of options, freshly prepared, and delicious. Yes, it is on the pricier side, but I don’t mind paying more for a meal if it’s worth it. They have a bunch of appetizers if you’re hungry but don’t want to break the bank. I’ve had both the asparagus and the spinach& artichoke dip and was blown away by both. Plus, they have a late night happy hour and you can get apps and desserts at a lower price. As for the drinks, I’ve only had one mixed drink and it was something special they had for Halloween. It was just ok. They have a list of mixed drinks with fun jazz-themed names but based on the ingredients, they all seem overpriced to me. Their wines and beers are at a much more appropriate price so I tend to stick to those. I often joke about how I tend to get«old and crotchety» when I go out because sometimes(ok, most times) I just can’t do crowds and craziness anymore. Broadway Jazz Club is a perfect balance for me of feeling«cool» and and being enough of an escape from the real world that I can relax and unwind there but at the same time it doesn’t feel loud, obnoxious or out of control. It feels authentic without seeming like they’re trying too hard. I definitely plan on making this a regular place.

What a neat little place to end my first KC trip. I was in town for a conference with two of my employees in tow, and due to conference exhaustion, we never made it out to a jazz club in the evening to enjoy the tunes. So Sunday Jazz Brunch to the rescue! I made a reservation for the 3 of us, which was actually not needed as it was very quiet at a quarter to 1. We were seated right by the stage, which was perfect for a lovely show of pianist and singer. This is what we came for. Heaven. And on top of that, the food was absolutely delicious. We split an order of beignets and each had the Eggs Florentine(Benedict’s vegetarian cousin). They were the best Eggs Florentine with quite a heaping of breakfast potatoes. The bread was perfectly toasted and wasn’t soggy from the hollandaise. I wanted to pack up their kitchen and chefs and bring them back to Oklahoma with me! The ambiance was lovely — a perfect, quiet spot for brunch. Next time I’m in KC, I will definitely try to make it out in the evening!

We went on a saturday night. We made reservations, which i suggest you do since it is not a large place. We were seated right in front of the band so we were only a couple feet from them! Our waiter was very friendly and knew when to come check in and talk without disrupting the band. We ordered the crab cakes which are the best i have ever had! We also had the pork chops and the chicken. We were very impressed with both of those dishes. The chicken was so flavorful and tender. We will definitely will go back for both the food and music.

I really like Broadway Jazz Club. It has a nice cozy feel to it and a nice venue to catch some music while enjoying dinner and drinks. The club gets a mix of local and national acts. The sound is decent, and there are a lot of greats seats. I was really surprised with the overall size of the venue. While there is a lot of seats, it is also pretty open and easy to move around through the building. The food is pretty good. I tried the Cuban and it was yummy. A touch more meat would be great so the bread doesn’t overwhelm the sandwich so much, but overall I really enjoyed it. My only real complaint is the options of sides to accompany a sandwich. I don’t like a lot of fried foods and try to stay away from an overload of carbs. With a sandwich I am already pushing that thought. The sandwiches comes with fries and the options otherwise are mashed potatoes or a side salad. While a salad definitely takes care of adding something healthier to the sandwich, a few more options would be nice. Cottage cheese, some fruit, a veggie option, nothing elaborate, just some healthier options. I did go with the fries and they were good, but a little soggy. I am a fan of Broadway Jazz Club! I will be back!

Our first impressions are pretty good. This is a cool small music venue. I don’t know of other jazz clubs around KC that also have a decent food menu. Thankfully it was not excessively loud(though right on the border). The acts our night were really fantastic: Angela Hagenbach then Kelley Gant. The cover charges for these acts were $ 7 and $ 5 respectively. The drink menu was fair though pretty high priced we thought. There is a specialty drink menu with a dozen or so creative, if sugary cocktails, all named for great jazz artists. Similarly, the food menu was fairly appealing, though a bit pricey for the portions and quality. Overall, it was a fun evening, and we would definitely consider returning. The décor is nice and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. Our waitress was quite charming and attentive, as were all the staff as well as the owner, who took the time to talk to us.

I’ve been to Broadway twice and enjoyed the evening both times. The first time was New Year’s Eve and we knew the bartender. Having that insider connection proved very beneficial(and more than a little intoxicating). We both ordered one off the martini menu, and our bartender poured us the extras from two or three more that she made. All are named for jazz legends, they range from a creamy chocolate raspberry to tart grapefruit, and every one I tried was delicious! They’re pricey, and strong, so under normal circumstances one is probably enough. The second time I went was for happy hour and we stayed for dinner and music. The brown rice dish I got isn’t on their summer menu, and I can’t remember everything that was in it. It was described as having cajun/creole seasoning; it wasn’t spicy, but it was phenomenal and I hope it shows up on the menu again. I tried a piece of my friend’s chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and it was really good, too. The man at the table next to us said his pork chop was the best he’d ever had. The interior is rich, dark and sexy; the tables are close together, which I like because it encourages you to talk to the folks next to you that you don’t know. The service was excellent as well. And the music! First, the sight lines and sound quality ensure that you won’t miss a moment or a note. The lineup features a lot of well-respected Kansas City performers, including Ida McBeth, and live recordings of KCUR’s 12th Street Jump. Both of which I want to see, accompanied by another one of those jazz legend martinis!

Better than I had expected, for many reasons. First the parking: a large lot directly behind the bar. Then the jazz: excellent. Three of us met to have dinner there, and we all agreed that the jazz was first rate. Then the prices. Happy hour is until 7 pm, but they start serving dinner at 6 pm. We arrived at 6 pm to have dinner with happy hour prices on drinks, including discounts on the house wines. Then the food. The menu is not upscale, but the choices are varied and the ingredients high quality. The salads included very fresh veggies, the tilapia was good, as were the black beans and brown rice. We asked for changes in preparations, and they were very accommodating. We were there on a day when there was a band starting at 5:30 pm. But it is best to call in advance to make sure you know who is performing and when. What they have online is not always accurate. For example, when we looked, we found a statement that there is live jazz from 4 pm most days. When we called, that was not what we were told. But since we called in advance, we knew what to expect and on what days. We were completely happy about everything. We’ll be back, for sure. If you call in advance, I think you will be equally as happy.

Good music, mediocre club. The night we were there they seemed to only have one harried waitress to serve a large crowd. She was polite and did her best under the circumstances but the result was inefficient service. Fried chicken was listed on the somewhat limited menu but when my date ordered it we were told they were out of it and planned to remove it from the menu. We then ordered the country fried steak which was very good. I realize this is a jazz club but the piped-in music between sets was extremely loud, making conversation almost impossible. Music during these periods should be background music. Save the loud for the live performance. The music, performed by well-known local musicians, was excellent. However we could’ve done without the barrage of political commentary that passed for comedy. It’s arrogant for performers to assume that everyone in the audience shares their political views. When we go out for a fun evening of music we’d like to get away from all the political crap. We get enough of that from newspapers and TV. With a larger, more efficient wait staff and a little tweaking this could be a good jazz club.

Wow! What an amazing little place tucked away right in the middle of midtown! We stopped in for a quick bite before heading to a show at Uptown. I don’t know that we would have ever ventured in otherwise. I LOVE that they have live music pretty much everyday! We were able to catch the first set of the band and it they were great! Food was good too — big portions, but good quality. We went with basics like, chicken wings, fried chicken and the pork tenderloin sandwich. This is such a cute little date night spot! Great music, food, and drinks! Good amount of seating and all have great views of the stage. We’ll definitely be back!

Came for valentines day. 1st visit and had high hopes based on previous reviews. Came to the 8:30 seating and was very disappointed. Food was mediocre at best. Every item had a Costco feel to it and fairly flavorless. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt as it is one of the busiest nights of the year for dining and possibly they took the discount bulk route for the evening menu. Music, ambience and service was ok. Not stellar but not a deal killer. Will I come back? Probably just to see if a regular dining night lives up to expectations. Unfortunately my 1st visit made me wish I had gone to Waldo pizza instead and saved $ 100.

The sound here is great. The food is way above average. It’s incredibly close to home, but far enough away from Westport that it feels«tucked away» and special. My only complaints are the drink prices. Particularly if you’re charging a cover for bands, too.13 dollars plus tax and tip for a Coors Light and an Old Fashioned. I want to sip on cheap beer and cheap whiskey if I’m going to stick around long enough to make that cover worthwhile. Without those lower-tier options, coming in frequently isn’t going to be possible for because of budgetary constraints. So glad this building has been put to such good use, though. And you’ll see me in here regardless watching players like Mark Lowrey and Jeff Harshbarger play until late. Just not as often as I’d like if it were more affordable. EDIT: Staff tells me a Boulevard and Jim Beam combo special is coming. Kudos to responsive business owners!!!

Arrived Friday night the 13th to a 9.15 reservation. Seated promptly with a good view of the stage. Excellent service. My date enjoyed the pork chop and cleaned her plate. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes brought back memories of Grandma’s cooking in Memphis. The Jazz — salty, sultry, sensational. We stayed till the place closed at 1am. We’ll definitely be back and soon! Highly recommend you do the same!
