The Café Nerman is located on the campus of the Kansas City Art Institute. Now I am pretty sure that any person can just walk in there during the day. At night they do require that you have a student ID card to access. But any visitor of the school can stop in and get some yummy coffee and eats. The café uses Roasterie coffee, which is AWESOME! There have been issues in the past of the drip coffee being TOO scalding hot to drink. Most of the mixed drinks are well made, depending on who is working and what time of year it is(towards finals, student-made coffee downgrades). And the most AMAZING thing is that a refill of coffee is only a quarter! $ 25 cents for a whole cup of joe! You gotta be kidding me! But I’m not. And they’re not. They’re serious. Us art students need our coffee and we need it cheap. How else will we have money to buy overpriced art supplies? :) All of the food I have tried here is delicious. Those weird little hummus wrap things ROCK! bagels always good, but ask for the house-made herb cream cheese!!! To die for! And the cinnamon and banana muffins are my favorite. The Nerm also offer a wide range of sandwiches, pastries, fountain sodas, and yummy things. So if you’re ever on campus, visiting a friend or coming to an end of semester show to check out some art, stop in!
