This is the place where everyone goes to sober up after midtown bar-hopping. The crowd is eclectic, the staff is fun and the food is much better than Denny’s. Not sure I would ever go here if it wasn’t late at night, but love that they are always available when I need a gravy covered anything. Great cinnamon rolls.

For a business that serves the SAME menu items day in & day out, there is NOREASON for this place to run out of anything at 1:07 pm. Today they ran out of philly cheese steak meat. Piss poor planning is all that is.

I ate there this afternoon noon and had left something. I went to go back no later than 15 mins and the waitress and the gentleman at the host stand lied to me and told me that what I left was no longer there just the wrap from it. The food is OK but the service sucks. Way to ruin someone’s day.

Okay, love this little diner! My friends and I were craving a chocolate shake and decided to head here after searching on Unilocal!Man did we find the right place! The chocolate shake was huge! One regular glass, and then the extras in the cup they mixed it in. So big, even though I ate it all(; We also split some fries and onion rings, and let me tell you-some of the best I’ve had. The onion rings were cooked to perfection, as well as the fries. At each table there is a 25¢ song jukebox and whenever another table plays a song, that song plays at your table as well. Some great classic selections! Really fun to pick from. Our waitress was lovely, so friendly, and funny. She took great care of us from beginning until the moment we walked out the door. This is the spot to go for a late night cheap craving for some delicious shakes! Time for an update: so, I recently went back tonight and ordered a shake. When my spoon came with it, it had a glob of old food on the end still stuck on it, and so did my friend! The manager handled it very well though giving us a complementary meal and a new shake. Our waitress on the other hand knew she messed up and was for some reason completely rude the rest of the night. Didn’t clear any dishes away, took forever ok our bills, and we had to ask if we were getting new shakes or not.

I walk in and all the servers are standing at the front door rolling silverware and no one greets me instead i greet them. Someone seats me then tells me theyre actually on the clock but cant take care of me. I sit for ten minutes and never get help which doesnt bother me im in the bussiness. Then someone comes to help me and says i will take your order but will hand you off to someone else. So trying to be considerate i tell her ill wait for the other person then gets rude with me. Btw i was a server for 8 years and a bar manager now so i live this bussiness! I hate bad reviews and would rather leave a good one then bad but seriously! I felt like no one wanted me there. I watch the other half of the room be taken care of but not me. I would of tipped 10 on my $ 13 dollar bill at least! And actually probly more because i wanted juice and milk but no one once checked on me my entire meal! I would my fire employees for ever letting this happen!

Classic diner in KC, since the 90’s(or earlier). I took my kids to this location since I used to frequent the old location on the other side of Broadway years ago. Was glad to see that they still have the table-side jukeboxes and diner-style atmosphere. My kids liked the complimentary cinnamon rolls(a new thing?) as well as the biscuits and gravy. Chubby’s still has an eclectic crowd, which is good for people watching. Good at any time of the day or night for traditional diner food.

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food was very average and not memorable. The décor was interesting-it made you feel like you were taken back in time to the 1950’s. The jukeboxes on the tables were fun and added an interesting touch. I liked the fact that you get cinnamon rolls when you sit down, similar to a «bread» course for dinner, even if you are here for breakfast. The service was a bit spotty and if we combine that with the lackluster food, I doubt we will come back, but it was a fun place to try once.

Restaurant was very clean. The servers were courteous, polite and fun. I had a double cheese with sautéed mushrooms/grilled onions/Swiss cheese and bacon. Absolutely amazing!!! I also had the fried mushrooms, they were delicious. The wife had a single cheese and substituted fries, and she was very happy. The fries are second to none! Perfect crisp to juicy texture and fantastic taste. A bit on the high priced side, but worth it

Horrible service. Waited over an hour and half. I know it’s Saturday night but still, I have never been treated like this. Clark your servers didn’t not provide good customer service

Ive never had a bad experience at chubbys… but maybe i lower my expectations a tad when i go in. That being said its always great drunk or hangover food, and the people watching is top notch!

While I have been to Chubby’s numerous time and have usually been satisfied. I have seen this happen before and feel obligated to comment. I went to Chubby’s at 12:30 Oct. 17th, I mentioned the date because the KC marathon took place that day and Chubby’s was on the outskirts of the route, however the race was well over by 12:30. We patiently waited 15 minutes for some one to take our drink orders. 10 minutes later we got out drinks and the waiter took our orders, standard, a couple of specials nothing out of the ordinary. At 1:15 we had no food. We expressed this to a host he apologized and went to check, and assured us that the order would be out in a couple of minutes. At 1:30 after waiting and 40 minutes for french toast, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy with fruit we left and went to the McDonalds across the street. The wait was annoying but not the issue. It was not communicated to us what the problem was, wether they were aware how long we had been waiting, or if they were even cared. We left after they tried to force and order of pulled pork sandwiches on us. Bottom line; only go to Chubby’s if you have a couple of hours to waste and you don’t mind eating food you didn’t order. Their wait staff really needs to be retrained in customer service. I may go back but not for breakfast or lunch when I have someplace else to go.

What a lot of people are saying is true. It’s probably better drunk. My issue is portion size. $ 6 for 2 chicken strips is hardly tolerable at a great restaurant, nevermind a diner. Granted it came off the appetizers menu but still. The food was so unimpressive for the price tag too. Dry chicken.

Sat at the counter for 10 minutes without any recognition, manager/cook yelled ‘I don’t F#*+@$& care how the food tastes. Worst experience in KC yet, place is in shambles

The food is pretty good, with a diverse menu of burgers, sandwiches, dinner, and breakfast options. The service is decent, but the patrons past 10 are usually drunk or sketchy looking. I’m glad they instituted an 18 percent autograt on parties of 4 or more, given the stress those poor servers must endure. Overall, I have always left satisfied.

I came here with two drunk friends who wanted some late-night eats. We came in around 11:30pm and were seated right away in a booth. Our server was sweet and attentive and very patient. There was a lot of great people-watching and an interesting crowd. The menu is a typical diner-style menu with breakfast all day and lots of other options. My friends both got breakfast(egg dishes) and I got a cheeseburger and fries. It was cheap(mine was around $ 6 with tax) and the food came out very quickly. The food was good, and I wasn’t even drunk! I can’t wait to come back when I am though, it is probably even more delicious when intoxicated!

My boyfriend and I went to eat at Chubby’s for a late brunch on New Years. We arrived at about 11:30AM to a very strange mix of people. Sorority girls, old couples, and even a pair of girls still dressed in their NYE best(nearly 12 hours later!) The hostess at the door was VERY friendly and sat us promptly. We were charmed by the jukebox at the table and the complimentary cinnamon rolls. Our waitress was to the point, not very friendly but not rude either. My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy plate(the«#4») and the loaded chocolate chip pancakes. I ordered the herb grilled chicken sandwich with garlic aioli(trying to be a little healthier for the New Year, you know). While his meal was«the best breakfast [he’d] ever tasted. Ever», I would like to rename mine«garlic aioli sandwich with a chicken breast somewhere in there». There was SOMUCH aioli. Like, dripping off my fork(yes, I had to use a fork because it was too messy for my hands). This place is called«Chubby’s», so it is probably my mistake for trying to eat healthy ;). I will probably return and try one of those«best» breakfasts! PS– the pancakes were delicious.

Four stars but I have mixed feelings about this place. This was for breakfast on Sunday morning. Service was above average, food was well prepared with good quality ingredients. Price was just what you’d expect. Portion size was a little on the large size but not huge. But maybe it was just the time of day, but my son remarked on the weird customer mix and I noticed it too. A hipster couple and mostly people in their 70’s, not what I expected in that neighborhood. I’d go back but only if someone else wanted to, but I’d pick another place first.

Not for the up tight… This place has not changed at all in a very long time. I visited on a Saturday morning and enjoyed a nice breakfast and some friendly banter from the staff and regulars. I ordered The Works hash-browns, but I could have gone for a side of eggs as well. My server was very friendly and I enjoyed my visit. I guess I enjoy people watching sometimes and Chubby’s is the spot for a good session. LOL
