Edge of Hell

It had been almost 20 years since I went here, but mom duties called as I helped chaperone a screaming and wimpy group of 8^th grade amateurs.
The «doors opened» at 6 pm apparently. What that means is… doors open at 8 pm. A nice two hour wait you think? Well… Doors opening at 8 pm really means you get in yet another long line and wait for another hour or more. Finally, by 9:15 pm we were on our way up the stairs.
The four moms ended up behind the previously noted screaming group of amateur 8^th graders. This was fun. Trust me. We occasionally had to assert our physical strength and push them towards impending danger ahead. Fortunately for us, we’ve seen all the classic scary movies in our lifetime to know that haunted houses are really not, well you know, «real» haunted houses. Unfortunately for them, they have been sheltered from these same movies (a move I now regret) so they were easily freaked out.
If you enjoy walking, and occasionally crawling, through a semi-​pitch black maze of stairways, ramps and tunnels, this is for you. If you enjoy finishing off your night covered in baby powder while sliding down a 5 story tube, then go for it!
All in all, frustratingly long and SLOOOOW line, semi scary (ha) fun, but the look on a bunch of terrified 13-​year olds… priceless!

I haven’t been to Edge of Hell in a solid 10 years. I was beyond disappointed.
Don’t pay for the «line skip» ticket. Their line was just as long as the regular. We waited for about an hour (which was expected). We just purchased tickets from our phone while standing in line.
They release you to the house in your respective group; but there was zero seperation of parties. Because of this, we expected every «scare» to come and spent the entire maze with random people in one big long line through the house.
They also had almost no employees working (people to pop out and scare you and work different rooms) and relied soley on the animitronic elements of the house (there were a couple).
There have been no changes to the house in 10 years and everything was super old.
Guys, step your game up. That was seriously highway robbery.

Well… the edge of hell is showing its age (40 years). Basically a long maze. Only a few rooms. Not scary at all. Only worth the two or three big animatronics at the end.

Second house of the night, and we had a good time. Still got a bit backed up but had some great effects and good scary parts. Slide was intense.

Literally scared out of my mind! One of the best but scariest things I’ve ever done. For about 30 $ you can walk through a 7 story haunted house. It took us about 20 minutes to walk through but we had a big group and was practically running. For smaller groups it may take 30 mins or more. Every turn was even more scarier. There were times where I just held on to my friend and closed my eyes. I don’t want to spoil what happens inside so you’ll have to just go and see for yourself !

It costs more for a reason. It’s simply one of the better halloween attractions in the KC Area.

Compared to the Beast, this haunted house is lacking. Not to mention, my girlfriend got an electrical burn during the first 5 minutes of the walkthrough, right before the Shocker exhibit. Not just a minor shock either, this shock left a dime size burn on her elbow. At the end of the walk through, we stopped to let the Edge of Hell snack bar workers know what happened and asked if we could speak to a manager or supervisor. We didn’t want some kid getting shocked and burned. Instead of a supervisor, one of their security team came down. When we told him what happened, he claimed it was part of the exhibit, that everyone gets ‘shocked’. Now, I don’t doubt that small shocks happen, but this was an electrical BURN. We tried to show him the burn, but he continued to say ‘that’s suppose to happen’. He didn’t get it. Another security guard came down and asked what happened. We repeated the story and showed him the burn, which he claimed he couldn’t see. When we showed him again, he started screaming and accused us of lying. He claimed the burn was a ‘wall abrasion’ and yelled ‘call the cops, get them out of here’. It was completely crazy. All we wanted to do was make them aware of a potential danger and they didn’t want to hear any of it. Talk about rude and crazy.

This is indeed as good as it gets.
I went again last weekend, I traveled about 500 miles to go, and it is better and more evil than ever.
This is the scariest and most evil Haunted House in the world hands down.
All others simply pale in comparison.

I can remember going to this haunted house when I was in high school… it has been around for years. I don’t remember it being that scary then… but is sure is now. From the second you walk up to the doors, there are actors scattered about the street in various poses as if they have fallen from the building. At the door, you will meet the «Rat Man» who puts real, live rats into his mouth. Has been doing it for 22 years. Freaky! I was scared to death from the second we entered. We went early (about 8) on a Friday night before the crowds gathered. If you want to make the most of your $ 27.00, I suggest you do the same. The less people in the house, the more one on one scares you will have. Lasted about 45 mins. Dress accordingly because you will be going up stairs, crawling through pathways, and stumbling around in the dark. Not a place for stilettos and minis. Also, don’t plan on going anywhere nice afterwords… you will not look pretty when you leave!

It’s that time of year again. Haunted Houses are open! And it’s OK to go because you’re chaperoning children! Yay!
The Edge of Hell is a blast. Don’t plan on singing the next day (you’ll be hoarse from screaming) or going on a photo shoot (I was covered in bruises for a week!). But do plan on having some good old fashioned Halloween fun. It’s a little pricey, but what the heck. I was scared, and that’s what I paid for. And having my three brave daughters all clinging to me the entire way through? Priceless.
I have a few years left before my daughters will be too cool to go with me. But just to be on the safe side I’m keeping an eye on friends kids … you never know, their parents may be too chicken!

This is the best haunted house I’ve been to. However, that doesn’t mean it’s great, it just means that all the others really suck. Edge of Hell is in a warehouse in KC. It is mostly dark, which I found to be the scariest part. Navigating up stairs and ramps and through a maze can be difficult in pitch black, especially when you’re anticipating someone jumping out at you any second. The actors were more fun than scary. I usually just laughed when I encountered one. I got more scared by the props that jumped out at me. My least favorite part was squeezing through these two big inflatable things that were pressed up against each other. The end has a really fun slide.
