I’m honestly not sure why this is a place on the plaza. I went here on Valentine’s Day and they had a few people, which wasn’t too bad. The server seemed less than thrilled to be working, and took our orders without having her notepad out. She seemed very out there and inattentive. She was also yelled the f-word across the restaurant for everyone to hear pretty much. Listen, I cuss all the time, but when you’re working? Really? I asked for onion rings, I got fries. My boyfriend asked for bacon on his burger, he got mushrooms. The burger was definitely not well done like I had asked it to be and had lots of pink, and afterwards I felt kind of sick. As I’m writing this I still feel queasy. I will never go back.

I decided to take a stroll in to P Otts and ordered some Mott sticks and a burger. The bartender was pulling quad duty being a bartender, server, manager, and cook. During the time in the bar I watched a lady who clearly had way to much to drink try to entertain everyone in the bar. It was clear and evident that the bartender was wearing way too many hats because I had to tell him that if he sold the overly intoxicated lady another drink then he would be a certified chuckhole. Then the bartender ended up having a confrontation with a cook, while my food was burning, about another cook who left without doing prep for some chicken wings and the cook was really giving the bartender the business about it. The cook was on the top of his lungs screaming that«It wasn’t his job to prep».(So loud that the entire bar heard him.) I got my motts sticks and they were burnt. Nothing like what I was used to getting at all. Then I got my burger. The burger smelled nasty, smelling like rotten meat and someones bum. I couldn’t take 2 bites of the burger. Off of the 2 bites of the burger that I did take, it made me sick enough that I threw up in the parking lot after I left. So I have to ask, why has this bar gone so far downhill? This used to be a very good bar to go and grab a burger and whatnot and now its in a state that you would need Bar Rescue to come in and save it.

Great stop for beer and apps in Plaza Area. Derrick our waiter is the best, very kind, knowledgable and very thorough. I will definitely return when I come back to KC.

Classic dive bar, kind of out of place on the plaza. Drinks are well priced and food is solid. Doesn’t dissapoint

Good food. Pork tenderloin sandwich was on point. Dunkel beer was superb as well. I recommend.

Stopped in last night for a beer, Royals shot and split an app with my wife. Waitress was nice and did a good job. We ordered app with ½ order of nachos and 6 wings. We should have known food was going to be bad when manager brought our food out and immediately took cook out on patio. Nachos were served room temp at best and wings were like they pulled them from the fridge. The manager that served that mess should not be in his position and we won’t be going back. We didn’t say anything last night because the waitress was pleasant and it wasn’t her fault.

friendly casual bar in the sometimes pretentious plaza area, making it one of a kind.

Service was chill. 3 – 4 tvs but only one station. Beer selection is limited. IDK how people stand in here when its packed… Place is rather small. But its a decent dive bar on the plaza

Not your Father’s Bar. My husband was hell bent on stopping here on our trip to KC. He was right! They had great drink specials, a very friendly bartender and best of all, I was introduced to Not Your Father’s Root Beer. I had never seen it before, or maybe I’d never noticed it before, but now I see it everywhere. The bar area was not huge and they do not have a ton of bar stools, but the there are tables and the patio is quite spacious. A good place for some quick drinks. Oh, we had to laugh, they gave my husband a drink in a copper tin mug and they kept his driver’s license. Bartender is explained why and we totally get it. My husband said, «I like this mug it’s a good thing he kept my id.» We will keep this place in mind for our next trip to KCMO.

Great bar. Great staff, and great food. The steaks are fantastic. The chicken tenders rival any that I have had. Make sure to get the onion rings, best in town. They have a great beer selection. The staff is normally very friendly and talkative. Highly recommend.

I would have their wings any day, but the burgers we had were the worst ever. Burnt to a crisp!

The first time I went to Ott’s was about 10 years ago in the Plaza and hadn’t been back since. I remember the burger being quite good the first time and had been dying to try it since. During a recent stay, my girlfriend and I decided to walk to one nearby. The menu seemed much bigger than what I remember. We ordered the mozarella sticks and they were tasty — much better than you’d expect at a burger joint. I ordered the mini cheeseburger and it was decent size but I wish for the larger one. It was decent — not great and not bad — just decent. It didn’t seem to have a lot of taste. They had a fixin’s bar to dress the burger as you like but the options were limited. The fries were also decent but not great. The atmosphere was pretty standard — similar to an Applebee’s. I noticed the bartender smoking, which was a bit of a turn-off. The waitress was cordial but not nice. Overall, it was pretty average. A decent burger if you’re in the neighborhood.

Food was ok, can’t complain too much. The reason for only 2 stars is the terrible old fashion I ordered. That is a bar standard that any bar keep worth his or her salt should have mastered. That fact that the bartender admitted she had to look at a recipe card, terrible just terrible.

Great drinks and decent food. The price is much better than most for the«upscale» plaza area.

Honestly, this place sucks. The décor is old and I felt like I was sent back to the 70s… Small place and very limited room. The kitchen land the bathroom is horrid. Im surprised this place is still open. This place has not been well kept as far as the cleanliness. Why is this place still open on The plaza, a area known for good food, atmosphere and restaurants with good reputations. The burger was overcooked. The bread was stall and hard because they over toasted. I personally prefer soft bread. The waitress didn’t even asked how I want my burger cooked. The wings are okay but I went for the burger and it wasn’t good. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

It was great for a small put style eatery. Although the menu was small, the portions were HUGE! Service wasn’t that great but there was no wait time and you’re able to get right in on a Saturday night.

I love this place, but recently it has disappointed me a little. Their Friday special($ 3.25 all bottled beers, $ 3.50 long island ice teas) actually used to be better. I’m not complaining, but it feels like they’ve started raising their prices and hiding their specials from the customers. Other than the burger and the pickle chips — which are both pretty good — I can’t speak to the quality of the food. But I still recommend it over any other bar on the plaza.

Once in a while it is great when classic bars from your younger days are exactly the same as you remember — even after 30 years away. While this time I just stopped in for a drink and to reminisce a little, I have many fond memories of juicy burgers in this tiny spot on the edge of the Plaza. Inside you’ll find about 8 round tables with tall bar stools. You will also notice that this place has lots of cool artifacts hanging from the ceiling and covering the walls. If you are looking for a friendly cozy spot to rest from shopping, stop in here for some burgers and beverages.

A good dive bar with decent food. The first time I went I had to have been…10 or 12… something like that. I’ve been several times afterwards and its got food and drink and an atmosphere that’s more for people wanting to drink in a place that’s been there forever. Not my type of place all the time, but decent enough to go to. Don’t expect much on the food or beer selection.
