I just moved to Kansas City in September and I was told if you want the best livers and gizzards this was the place to go. Well they were definitely right. The food is outstanding and the go chicken go sauce is great. This place is hands down one of the best fast food chicken restaurants I have ever been too. You get in and out in a hurry and you are on your way home. If you are in the KC area check this place out!

I started going to this original Go Chicken Go in the mid«80s and it had already been in operation since 1969. There used to be a Dairy Queen across the street and I would go and worship at the houses of Blizzards and Gizzards. The DQ is long gone but the gizzards and the rest of GCG’s menu remains. Even if you think gizzards are repulsive, try these before you abandon them for life. Take a couple of gizzards, place them in their buttery soft rolls and dip them in a side cup of bright yellow gravy; repeat until coronary. They are that addictive.

Things to have really good food but any more when I go to get gizzards they are always dry and seem like they’re old. I want fresh doesn’t like they have up on 78 Street go chicken go needs to step up their game.

Love Go Chicken Go! I always try to decide if I like the chicken, the potatoes, the roll, or the corn best but I always forget I can order them all by getting a snack size plus corn. Plus they have the best strawberry pop!

So this place looks super sketchy. Plus it’s kinda in the hood BUT man is this place good! I’ve came here for years and have yet to be disappointed. Every time I visit this joint, I get the gizzards with a side of gravy and extra rolls. Their gizzards are amazing! They have a delicious fried outside and a tender inside. I’m a fat kid and dip it in the gravy. So yummy! Now let’s talk about those rolls… Super soft and smothered in butter inside. Omg these are good. I’ve had their fried chicken and it’s not too shabby. Something about having the snack like gizzards just get me every time. If you’re ever in the area definitely stop by for some comfort food!

The fried chicken is good, but the gizzards are great. Biscuits are soft and perfectly buttery, and the mashed«potatoes» are magical(I am pretty sure there’s no actual potatoes in them, just magic). This is how I do it. ½ order of gizzards, two extra biscuits, TWO G-SAUCES, mashed potatoes. Tuck a few gizzards in a biscuit and apply the g-sauce and potatoes like condiments… heaven… right after your attack.

Snack, dark. It’s a tiny box. It took me less that 2 minutes from the time I ordered it one window, shuffle two steps to the next, and have it handed to me. The GCG I go to is near my work; it’s the one on 7th, north of Central. Yes, KCK. When I tell my workmates I’m heading up to get GCG, I’m greeted with one of two responses : Either it’s a hearty«Get it with the G-Sauce!», because they know what’s what. Or, it’s «Oh, I’m just gonna go to the KFC over here…» Can I just tell you how nasty a plate of KFC is? Brown, greasy, nasty lookin’ fried piece of scary on a plate is what KFC is. Nas-T. Go Chicken Go is what any place that sells Fried Chicken WISHESITCOULDBE. You don’t bite into a piece of chicken from GCG and say, «Oh, man, that’s a big mouthful of grease I just put in there!» like you would if you went to KFC. You don’t say, «Ugh, that was all dry and gristly and just plain weird», like you would also say if you went to KFC. No, you say, «Holy crap, that’s how chicken is SUPPOSEDTOTASTE!» Because, like, YOUJUSTHADREALCHICKEN! Fried in a way that’s not all greasy and sick like it just came out of a vat of 90-weight motor oil. It’s a pleasure to walk into that joint and know that everyone else in line thinks the same thing: I am here for the REALDEAL. I want my G-Sauce. I want my Dinner Box. I want my Strip Snack. I want my extra peppers. I want my buttered bun and potatoes and it put in a tight little box with the receipt tucked in and a smile handing it off to you because they know you gonna eat every damn crumb in there. Oh, yeah. I am often reminding people I know that, «Sometimes, only Go Chicken Go will do!», to which, those in the know who know better, nod their heads and say, «GIZZARDPACK!»

Heard about this place from a random comment on Fox News and since I was somewhat in the area, I found it! Awesome fried chicken! Just like they said on Fox News! Thanks Fox!

I don’t give a five-star very often but this place is a total mouth orgasm!!! Yikes, I’d better not stand up. Got me all aroused just thinking about it. Deep breath… ok. Anyhoo, I was layin’ up in the bed watching some really bad TV because I was bored to tears and it was Thursday night? All of a sudden, I remembered I hadn’t eaten since lunch and my rumbling stomach sounded like I was getting ready to let loose a torrent of vile and dastardly gasses, but that wasn’t it. I was HONGREE!!! So, I put some shorts on. I supposed I could have driven naked but probably would have gotten in trouble trying to go into the joint au naturel. So, I hopped in the truck and whizzed a couple secs over to the joint on North 7th Street in the Good Olé Dotte! It was probably 9:30 and the parking lot was clear… until I showed up. Why is it that every time I go to an unbusy restaurant, the damned lot fills up? Ok, it’s no matter, I went in and was promptly hollered at(in a friendly way) for my order and … yes… you guessed it! I ordered a FULL order of mixed livers and gizzards… Food of the Gods! And some extra G-Sauce. I intended to eat only half of it and save the rest for a later snack. The«snack» subsequently occurred about three hours later after some beers and some tequila shots. Listen, this is about as good as it gets. I firmly believe GCG outdoes KFC and Church’s and any of the others you want to throw at me. I love the wing packs and often have those when I’m working on some light projects. Once in a blue moon, we pick up a whole dinner there and have never been let down. The mashed potatoes and cole slaw servings are rather small but it all seems to go together well. I love, love, love how easy it is to get in and out and what a tasty, tasty treat this chicken is. Truly some of the best chicken I’ve ever eaten from a commercial source. Yeah baby!

Not the original Go Chicken Go, but the oldest currently-operating one, and #1 in my heart. I’ve been coming to this location since ca. 1987, and I always like to drop by whenever I’m in the area. According to their web information, this location has been open since 1973. Unlike some of the other GCG locations, this one is located in a former filling station and is take-out only. Spartan is the best-fitting word for the shop, considering the customer side consists only of 1) an entrance door, 2) a menu board, 3) a path around the metal fence/line corral 4) the ordering window, 5) the pick-up window, 6) the exit door. Though I know that GCG serves all of the chicken, the only parts I am interested in are the livers and gizzards — and GCG does them perfectly. There is something magical about the salty/peppery coating that they use on all their chicken, plus some magical X-factor that makes their gizzards more tender than gizzards I have had anywhere else. All chicken from GCG comes in their ubiquitous red and white boxes, which are a little smaller than a shoebox — except that this is a shoebox of delicious chicken parts. Orders of livers, gizzards, or mixed orders come with a white bread roll with margarine, which is always smashed between the top of the pile of chicken and the box lid, and is the perfect appetizer to the chicken treasure below. I also always opt for a side of hot sauce, which is a little tub of a mildly-spicy picante sauce. As for the little treats themselves, they come out hot and greasy, and they are absolutely fantastic. If you have never had chicken gizzards before, then you need to at least try some. If you’re afraid of gizzards, get over it and try them — if you don’t love the gizzards at GCG then you can give up on them forever, because they don’t get any better. The chicken livers also receive the same battering and frying, and strike a rich earthy balance against the chewy, almost-«beefy» gizzards.
