Horrible. Bought a groupon having never taken a BYOB painting class before. I don’t know the instructors name because he never introduced himself. Very, and I mean. Very, limited instruction. He was was way more interested in his own painting and when people asked for help he just painted theirs for like 5+ minutes. He probably spoke a collective 10 – 15 min in the whole two hours mainly during the beginning.

I have been to many BYOB painting classes and this one was the worse. The instruction was to look at a painting & do it yourself. The instructors painting didn’t even look like the painting the class was completing. Bought this groupon and will never recommend this class to anyone. I could have done my own BYOB class and saved myself money. It would have been the same instruction.
I am giving this rating a two because the class was crowded. However, I still think I would have got the same lack of instruction. The painting looks terrible.

I am not what one would call, artistic. Heck, drawing stick figures give me anxiety, but I had a blast at a BYOB painting class to benefit KC Pet Project. Little did I know that we wouldn’t be painting a flower or a beach scene, no we’d be painting a freaking DOG!
Thank goodness for the BYOB! The instructor was incredibly helpful and patient with me and everyone in the room was extremely helpful! I took creative liberty with my painting and tried to make it look more like my dog — it turned out to be very impressionist and I loved seeing peoples reactions when we all went around the room looking at the beautiful artwork people had created.
The gallery itself is great! The walls were lined with beautiful art and the lighting was perfect! I haven’t had a chance to check out their framing services, but I hear they really work with you to find something that will work best for everyone. All in all this place was great and I can’t wait to go back!

Took a leisurely BYOB painting class here and had a blast. The parking can be a little tricky if it’s a busy evening but it’s well worth it.
I bought the groupon to test the place out and wasn’t disappointed. The teacher was quite fun and energetic too.

I recently went to Hook Gallery for BYOB painting party and fell in love.
Firstly, you can’t miss the place, it’s right of off 43^rd/​Westport Rd and Roanoke. Once you walk in you’re greeted by a bright room filled with art. It’s airy and laid back, you don’t get that foreboding feeling that comes with white walls and expensive art. :) Secondly, the owners are so fun! You can tell they just really want you to enjoy yourself. The painting party was a blast, our instructor was fun and encouraging and did really well at teaching the class.
Their frame selections are vast and they can help you look at the bigger picture (no pun intended… jk, pun totes intended) if you’re having trouble imagining what your frame will look like.
Great space with knowledgeable personable owners. Getting all my framing needs taken care of here AND I’m planning as many byob painting parties (and DEFINITELY recommending to anyone) as I can!
