I have been curling for about 7 years and I really enjoy this sport. Yes, I know people say that curling is about as exciting as watching the grass grow but they don’t understand the game. There is strategy involved and it has been called a game of chess on ice. The club members are very sociable and are always willing to help you learn the finer parts of the game. It is not a game of strength but more of balance and touch. Woman and men are equally matched.(there is no woman’s tee like in golf.) The etiquette of the sport is to be respectful of your opponent and enjoy the game. You Never criticize or disparage your opponent. And this sport can be enjoyed by people of all ages starting at about 10 or 11 years old up to the 90’s. I competed in a Senior Mens tournament recently in Chicago and two men were in their 90s and still competitive. Check it out. ps: this club used to meet in Overland Park at 135th& Quivira but it has moved to KC, north of the river. We play Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.
