Perhaps I am biased as I work at the Med Center — but I highly recommend KU Peds for general pediatrics and the sub-specialties that they cover. I was very excited when I was pregant because I knew my kid would get the best care and she does. She is 8 mos old now and we have obviously had many appointments, the wait time is not long and while waiting you can read books, have a book read to you by a Reach Out and Read volunteer, check out the fishtank or play on the awesome bilingual carpet(learn spanish and english). When your child is getting measured and weighed they can enjoy entertainment by Elmo and once we get in the room watch out you are in for a treat. KU Peds offers a parent educator — who can completely entertain the child while waiting for the doc — all the while evaluating her/his development and talking with the parent about issues. I have found this service completely invaluable. Once the doc enters the room the child gets a book courtesy of Reach Out and Read(even at one month Samantha was focused enough to pick one out and we still read or look at those books today) The doc throughly evaluates the child and will answer any and all questions you have. They are fantastic! I completely appreciate the time spent with me, my baby and my husband. After the evaluation a clinic nurse will come to the room and my child has gotten plenty of TLC before, during and after her shots from the nurse. Everytime we have a visit we look forward to it and I think you too will find the quality care you are looking for!
