Lutfi’s Fried Fish

Great lunch today. Had the fish/​wing combo with fries & coleslaw. Every item was perfect, best smoked wings I have had in the KC Metro area. Will definitely being going back. Service was excellent, talked to waitress & cook.

I had a horrible experience with an awful woman at the Lufti’s on Main. She was having an exchange with a former employees and then decided to cop an attitude with me for some reason. I swore I’d never go back. So, I live in KCK and it’s Friday and it’s Lent and I’m looking for fish and I see that we now have a Lufti’s in Wyandotte Plaza. Being the forgiving, open-​minded (and hungry) person I am, I decided to give it another shot. I ordered boneless catfish, slaw and fries. It took a while because the place was hopping. I think most of Wyandotte County’s Catholics were here eating a great dinner. Lots of call-​in orders. I had been sitting there a while when this giant of a man comes back and asks me what I ordered and my name. I told him I didn’t want to get anyone in trouble because I had not taken a number but had simply given the order taker my name. He apologized and went back to the kitchen and then signaled me that my order was next. He offered me a refill on my drink. I thought that was all pretty cool. I understood there was going to be a wait but I appreciate the man’s attention. Got the food home, delicious! Iwill definitely be back!

Got the pound of catfish with bread, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Crispy and seasoned exactly right. The chocolate cake is the best I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve eaten all over the world!!! I thought I would pass out from euphoria!

In town for work and stopped in for lunch. The catfish was excellent! Flavorful breading and the fish was moist. I had red beans and rice and green beans for sides; they were very good but a little too salty. I would come back next time I’m in town.

Hands down, best fish around. I used to think City Fish was ok, but lacking. This place is the bomb. The fish is flaky but moist and never greasy. When it comes to sides I really like their hush puppies. I could do without their fries. They are basic, frozen steak fries. They don’t put seasoning or anything on them. We haven’t tried the other sides. We did try the wings once. The flavor was ok but I thought they were kinda slimy, the closer texture I could describe was boiled. The skin wasn’t crispy. If you get the fish, you won’t be disappointed. Side note: the lone can get long and they don’t move you through very fast. They take phone orders before moving people through the line SO if you’ve been here before I recommend calling your order in, it will be faster.

Lutfi’s is legit, best fish I’ve had in KC, never greasy or soggy like some fried fish places can be. Wings were really good, but a little on the small side. The side dishes were great as well. Cost was $ 25 to feed 2 adults and a kid, and my wife didn’t even finish her whole meal. This location also has the added benefit of being brand new so the décor is really nice too. Only downside is if you dine in with young kids, there are no high chairs or boosters.

This food here is so good… this place is so much better than City Fish… if I could I would eat here every day for dinner.

The best Basa Fish and Fried okra! The employees are very nice and if you eat inside they will check on you every second! How customer service should be! I’m so excited they moved around the corner from my house! The BEST!!!

Awesome! The golden fried fish was tasty and not one bit greasy. I had the comeback fish sandwich with one side, yummy red beans and rice. A side of creamy coleslaw was added at no charge by Earl Wilson, who I take to be the owner or one of the owners. And the lovely lady working beside him could be his wife or a co-​owner, or both! While we waited for our order, we were offered a sample of the greens which we had never eaten before. I’m pretty sure I will be eating greens on a regular basis … very flavorful and I’ve read that greens help lower cholesterol! The other young man assisting with cooking (formerly from Springfield) was very friendly and welcoming. They are most cordial and customer friendly.
My husband had wings and fried fish. He worried that the wings might be too spicy, so he was given a wing to try before he ordered. They were not too spicy, very delicious, not fried but smoked and covered with a flavorful sauce. We were told that the fish can also be purchased blackened. We are going to be repeat customers for sure and plan to try some of the other offerings. These folks obviously are skilled in the kitchen and know what they’re doing.
Both the food and service were stellar. Our order was to go but there is ample seating for dining in. We recommend this restaurant and will eat here again … and again …

Update: Earl and the lovely lady, Kim, are not related. The owner’s name is Dana. Earl and Kim are employees. These are the kind of employees every business owner dreams of. They are great front line promoters for Lutfi’s. We’ve already returned and this time added a lemon cake dessert to our meal (only $ 4.00). Kim said all of the desserts are good … she knows, because she makes them. And, yes, it was delicious!

This is amazing!!! Best fish. Best wings. Greens are amazing. Everything seasoned beautifully. Come to the one at 77^th and State Avenue. You will not regret it. Ever. Also if you are hungry for shrimp… they have it.
