I don’t come to the library often, I thought I’d come here to study and be fairly distraction free. I choose wrong! Between Scott Heiser calling for Amanda to discuss a policy, the employees discussing Comicon and cosplay, and AARP being there for the seniors I couldn’t get past the first sentence to study! I left after 5 minutes. What happened to quiet time!!!

Big fan of reading over here! I love to read but generally don’t buy books, so I always frequent my local public library. I’ve been here a few times already since I moved to KC, and have been so pleased with everything. It’s located in a strip mall type of building, so I was a little confused at first but now it’s easy to find. As stated in previous review, it’s not the biggest library around, but it’s great. The staff is SO friendly, the selection is great, there are CD’s for rent(who even uses those anymore… me #sorryimnotsorry) computers for public use, self service check outs and downloadable ebooks for your ereaders. What really impressed me was when I placed a few books on hold and received a notification in the mail only 2 days later, via a postcard, that my books had come in. So I took my giddy self over there ASAP and was so pumped that I didn’t have to wait to get them. Although the library is on the small side, it has a ton of other branches in the KC area(close to 30 I think?) and your card works at all of them and you can request books from them. I’m pretty excited to be living so close to this branch and it doesn’t look like it’ll be disappointing.

This is not the biggest or prettiest library I’ve ever been to, but it’s close by, pretty decent, and keeps me in reading material, so I’m more than happy with it. There always seems to be quite a few people here reading, studying, and whatnot, and I know that from time to time there are events for kids. The library is clean, modern, well organized(different sections of books are clearly marked), and the staff are friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of comfortable seating, in case you’d like to curl up with a book, and a lot of the chairs have little attached side tables(similar to the arm rest tables on some airplanes), which would be good for a laptop or to stack up a pile of books while you read. I usually tend towards fiction or travel books, and the selection of those is more than ample. There’s also a really good new book section.(A bonus of the new book section is that you can check out as many new books as you want, as I know a lot of libraries have a limit on how many of those you can check out each month.) Their website is really easy to understand, and it makes renewing books and placing holds on books quick and easy. They also email me when books are due, or when the book I’ve put on hold arrives at my branch of the library, which is awesome.
