Very hip, friendly vibe here. I enjoyed a fruit smoothie at the counter, and wished I had enough time to have lunch here! Folks seemed to enjoy their salads and sandwiches. My fruit smoothie was refreshing: Apple juice, bananas and strawberry. A little icy which was exactly what I wanted.

I came here with my 16-month-old son and asked for a high chair. An employee said they didn’t have any. I told him that they should since they serve food. He said, «Kids don’t come here, sorry!» I told him that people with kids do. He said sorry again. I don’t think he cared, so I just wanted to mention it here for the owner.

Mildred’s has my favorite black coffee of all the coffee shops in the land(AKA midtown/downtown/city market area)! It is smooth and delicious. The staff is so attentive and friendly. They have delicious treats and priced just right! The lunch service looks awesome, although I haven’t tried it yet. I love to work from Mildred’s… but make sure your computer is charged, because there are not a ton of outlets(due to the old building) or just bring other work besides your computer because this is a great place to meet up with people and enjoy quality time together.

Mildred’s is pretty darn cool. They’re very consistent, and the staff is generally helpful and kind. They carry Hugo Tea, which I looove. Also, if you’re into eggs, theirs are THEFLUFFIEST in the world. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re like magic. Keep doing whatchoo do in the egg department, Mildred’s. I am a little sad when the cheese isn’t quite melted on my eggs though. First world problems, fa sho. I would love to work/study at Mildred’s more often, but it’s one of those weird spots where you know nearly everyone there, so it’s impossible. This obvi isn’t their fault, it’s kind of awesome, just my experience.

This is now my favourite coffee shop, also itis a bonus that I work nearby. Great pastries — their scones are so big and filling that I can eat one for breakfast and not be hungry until after midday. All their brewed java are just to my liking: powerful, but not bitter. I sometimes go there for lunch(the BLT is my favorite), but it is a bit expensive for a sandwich and a number of chips. Still delicious, however.

LOVE that they expanded their menu. Wish their hours were a little different, as I am often finding myself craving their Snickerdoodle coffee or caramel lattes when they are closed!

Their original breakfast sandwich is absolutely amazing — you MUST order it on your first visit. They are undergoing a renovation project, so the space is a bit smaller, but hey if you’ve never been there before you’d never know the difference. Since they exxpnaded the menu, my fave food item is the Chipotle breakfast wrap. I always order their snickerdoodle drip because their version of my usual go to drink, the chai latte, is a tad bit too sweet for me.

I love the breakfast sandwiches, the coffee and the cookies. The space was just meh, but they recently renovated and its a lot better. Good spot, underrated for sure.

I typically get the hummus sandwich from here after my Yoga classes. Good sandwich and they are quick. Also, reasonably priced. The bread they use is really good. PS: The chips do get a bit soft/soggy since they include chips in the To-Go box and I eat it only after an hour or so. Not sure how they can change that though. Mostly my fault for eating it so late.

Very good breakfast and coffee! I had a breakfast burrito and my wife had the biscuits and gravy. Both were top notch.

Mildred’s is ol’ reliable. They have delicious coffee, a cool space and their food is really good. My last time there, I got a Cobb Salad to-go. It was probably a few bucks more than I’d expect to spend, but at the same time it was full of goodies like hard-boiled eggs, avocados and tons of fresh lettuce. Next up on the list would be trying their pastries. I’ve found that parking down here is not bad considering you’re in the Crossroads. There’s a small lot behind it and lots of street parking surrounding it depending on when you go. I rotate between PT’s, Thou Mayest and Mildred’s when I’m in the Crossroads, and I’d probably rate each of them equally depending on the day and what you’re in the mood for.

We went on a Sunday morning and it was perfect. They offer biscuits and gravy made from scratch and they were heavenly! The gravy was full of flavor and was a good consistency. The biscuits were light and fluffy. I had a honey cinnamon latter and it was delicious. It was the perfect amount of sweet. The baristas were very friendly and service was quick! I will definitely be going back

I have been adding a lot of coffee places to my lists of reviews lately. This wouldn’t be odd if I drank coffee! I was a little sleepy and a little early for work so decided to wonder around the Crossroads and find me an iced chai. Mildred’s iced chai is pretty much like Starbucks. Satisfying, but nothing special. No pop of spice from the tea. No sweetness at all from the milk(not that I want super sweet!) The staff is fantastic and friendly. If you use a credit/debit card there is an option on the screen to add a tip starting at $ 1. Maybe the feeling is different with coffee, but a 25% tip for pouring some tea and milk in a cup?(Greater than 25% if you get a smaller drink.) Give people an option to write in a tip if they want instead of forcing them into a ridiculous amount.

I got an iced latte here, and my mom got a hot latte. Both were really delicious and high quality. We split a coconut dessert. It was yummy but a little dry. This coffee house has a decent amount of seating as well. I will definitely be back if in the area.

As awesome as it gets for independent coffee houses. Staff will get to know your name and are always happy to see you. Translation, not your usual random group of caffeine pushing professionals. Their egg sandwich is incredible, pastries look and taste out of this world and, on a cold winter day, try their soup for lunch. Signed, Former Starbucks Junkie.

Great music. Great atmosphere. I’m always pleased when a shop has a true macchiato(not the crappy sugary one at Starbucks just foam and espresso). It was a great shot and done nicely. It’s here in a really cool part of KC that gets better each time I come here.

Mildred’s is a great staple coffee shop in the Crossroads where you can get a fresh, delicious lunch along with an above average cup of coffee. My salad with tuna was healthy and topped with an avocado. My iced chai and macchiato were both very tasty. Mildred’s had A LOT of employees on staff. Everything gets done very efficiently. I have no idea how they would ever split tips, though! Mildred’s made me think that I was in a big city like Chicago or New York, sipping a macchiato in the midst of professional businessmen. When I’m in the area again, I’ll be sure to stop by.

A good go-to coffee shop that meets all my requirements: Extensive coffee menu with good quality beans, syrups, and teas; A full hot food menu — more than just pastries and breakfast sandwiches; Plenty of seating; Friendly, non-pretentious baristas; Open on Sundays. They have street parking & a small lot & a great Crossroads location. Support your local coffeehouse & give them a visit.

Let’s just say from the start this review is rigged. I could have happily spent the entire day here listening to the heavenly gypsy jazz being played throughout the joint. I’m a musician, and this is the stuff that I live to listen to so what a pleasant surprise to go along with a marvelous(and inexpensive) cup of plain black coffee served out of a pump serve-yourself container. One of the workers told me they serve the roasts of a very small family owned Kansas City, KS roaster, the name I don’t recall but I was digging this affordable cup. The food going by looks heavenly. There are comfortable couches to loaf on and the wireless is flying which is what I need for work. I dig this place. Django, Stephane, Hot Club of France, and their faithful followers — ce que je vis pour!

I am now a fan. Within reason. I still think that Mildred’s has woefully truncated hours. I mean, closing at 4:00PM? that’s just crazy! BUT I have been in a few times, and I like most everything about the place. First of all, Mildred’s makes great coffee, and they generally have really tasty baked goods. I try and not do the whole«latte and a muffin» breakfast much anymore, as it seems to just make me fatter and fatter and fatter, but if that’s what I want, Mildred’s is a good place to do it. The place is pretty cozy as well. It has everything that I need to either work for a while independently, or to conduct a meeting. By everything I mean: tables, chairs, electric outlets and coffee. It’s a pretty standard coffee shop experience. Once again, I’ll reiterate just how lame I think it is for a coffee shop to close so early(and don’t even get me started on the weekends), but if you catch them during the hours in which they feel like making a profit, things are pretty excellent at Mildred’s.
