We came here for a friend’s birthday. We arrived around 7pm on a Friday with a large group expected. We headed upstairs to the patio and were lucky to get a table large enough for our group of 12. Probably because it was so hot outside but there were a few fans that helped a little. The previous group had just left so there table was dirty and it took a good 20 minutes for the server to clear the table. That should’ve been an indication of the kind of service we were going to get the rest of the night. Slow and inattentive. There are about 15 tables upstairs with 3 servers and a bartender, but everything took 20 minutes or more and we had to ask for everything. Napkins, plates, place settings. I had to go to the server’s stand and ask for them myself and take them over. No apology, no explanation. I ordered the ploughman’s platter to snack on while we drank and it was… Not good. Two sausages. And three thumb size pieces of cheese with those little stale toast things instead of actual bread. Great friends and a fun evening but terrible choice with nonexistent service.

O’Dowd’s may be part of the KC Hopps chain of local restaurants and some of their food may have similar counterparts on menu’s at their other locations, but O’Dowd’s has the best fish & fries of all of them. Perfectly battered flaky white fish and a cool Guinness really have a way of hitting the spot. The décor is spot on for an authentic Irish pub. The fare is reasonably priced given the location. And it’s located right by a parking garage. All in all, great food at a good price with all the fun shopping right around it.

Has«live music,» that is if you consider live music to be a DJ who starts the next song as the previous song is ending to overlap them and simulate musical talent. Music is loud but not in a good way as the venue is not set up well for music, so it is just blaring at you. Bouncer made some insensitive and unwitty yo mama jokes to us. Sir, I am sure that you did not tap my momma’s ass last night, considering she died 4 years ago

I can’t even give this place one star. If you want to have a terrible time and be disrespected please go here. A friend of mine accidentally walked into the wrong restroom and immediately walked out. While apologizing they kicked him out. He clearly meant no harm. Then as we were exiting the bouncer started saying inappropriate things about the blown jobs my mother gives and called my brother and his friends faggots. If you want to feel violated and lose your self worth go there and let the asshole bouncer be a dick yo you.

Went back after 7 years and still a cool pub. Good Guinness and Fish and chips were great, even though I ordered them 3 minutes before the kitchen shut. hopefully, wont be 7 years before i’m back.

I love the fish and chips here and that’s what keeps me going back. I’m also a fan of Moscow Mules, and the drink menu says they are served in a copper mug. When the waitress brought my drink it was in a regular glass,(it was about 9:30 on a Sat. night) she told me at that time of night on weekends the mugs have a habit of walking out the door. Understood. Nice surprise was that she soon came back and had a mug in her hand for me. Above and beyond… and seriously. they taste better in the copper mug. Our food and service was good. The dj had started about the time we were finishing up and that was good because it wa

We went a couple of months ago and it happened to be happy hour. I thought the prices were great and the corn beef sliders were wonderful. I loved the décor and our server was great. We will be back.

This bar has everything: outdoor patio, dance floor, live music/dj, good food/drinks, and a great staff. Perfect for drinks at anytime of hour.

Superb. Best bangers and mash I have ever had. My mates had some of the corned beef and cabbage sliders with fries. They were raving about how delicious the fries were. I thought they were having a laugh. Tried some for myself and was astounded at how delicious they were. I wish I didn’t live hundreds of miles away otherwise I would be in here all the time. If you don’t like the busy/party vibe of a pub, get in before 9 and you’re fine. If you want the true pub atmosphere, after 9 the deals are good and they mix them stiff here.

Went there for lunch on a weekday. It was early but we were in KC for a getaway, so wanted to start lunch off with drinks on a rooftop. The server didn’t know how they made their bloody Mary’s and whether/not they even had mimosas. We weren’t given menus, silverware, or water without asking for each thing. Food was good but just traditional bar food. There are a lot of great restaurants on the plaza so I’m disappointed I wasted a lunch on this place since the service was so… off. Great rooftop though!

While I am no expert on Irish Pubs I ordered the boxty and it was amazingly good! So, it was also really good service, minus the grouchy hostess, but our friendly waitress made up for the hostess’s moodiness.

I’ve been here a few times and it just never impressed me. In fact, the last time I was here, I was sitting at a high top table next to the bar and wound up ordering everything at the bar all night because I was told my «server was busy running up and down the stairs» and clearly didn’t have time to notice her new table who was sitting there without drinks for almost 10 minutes. Not sure who she was. We were there 3 ½ hours and nobody introduced themselves. The food here is okay. Nothing too distinguishing. This place is less expensive than most on the Plaza and perhaps that’s why it’s still around. They also have a rooftop patio which is another distinction and not a bad addition. Pretty sure what keeps this place afloat is their live music and their weekend DJ/Dance parties. This place becomes a nightclub after 11 on the weekends with a cover, so be prepared for that. There are better Irish Pubs in the city and better night clubs. There’s a reason I don’t go out of my way to come here.

One of my favorites here in KC. Great atmosphere, great food, fantastic live music and Guinness on tap. Hard to beat. The Guinness Steak Boxty is hands down one of my favorite dishes anywhere.

Solid Irish pub, had a great band. Friendly waitstaff and crowd and good chicken. Fish and chips were a bit too oily.

O’Dowd’s has a nice bar and grill atmosphere. On the day we were there the weather was beautiful, so we opted for patio seating. The patio is on the roof and has plenty of seating. Upon getting settled in at our table, our server greeted us and offered us drinks. She let us know about the $ 3.50 Boulevard. Don’t mind if I do! Beer was good and cold. We decided to split two orders of sliders(chicken and corned beef). The sliders were delicious and perfect to share for lunch. Corned beef was tender and flavorful and the chipotle buttermilk sauce for the chicken was creamy and added much flavor to the slider. Sliders also had a decent amount of meat. The service was good and our server regularly stopped by the table to check on us and offer drink refills. Overall, we enjoyed our food, service was gold and bonus nice weather in late June so we could enjoy the patio!

Nice Irish pub with a neat patio. Not much of a view unless you enjoy watching accidents/near accidents at the KC Country Club. Can’t comment on the food but the beer was good.

It isn’t very often that you go to a place where the waitress is more receptive to customer requests than the manager. Our waitress, Ellie, was extremely nice, helpful, and responsive. This one star review is not for Ellie(she is a 5 star waitress), it’s not for the food(I would give it 3 stars), but my one star and the reason my entire group won’t be back to O’dowds is due to the management, and in particular, Sam. My group was the first on the O’dowds upstairs patio for the Chiefs home opener and began watching the game on one of their tvs upstairs. As we were watching the game on the most visible screen, the manager, Sam, changed the channel to the royals game. Despite our request to leave it on the home opener, he refused and told us we had to move tables if we wanted to watch the game. FORTHENEXT2HOURS, we watched 3 separate groups of people come upstairs, request the channel be changed to watch the chiefs, and be denied(subsequently going downstairs). As you can see in my picture, the patio is empty on this gorgeous 70 degree day, all because Sam was insistent on watching the royals. Maybe he wanted to watch the royals game himself. Maybe there is a strict O’Dowds policy to only have so many tvs playing the Kansas City Chiefs. Maybe Sam should do his job as the manager and listen to the customers at O’dowds. Time to go to Granfalloon.
