Pie Hole

From the chupacabra to the swagger these fellas knock it out of the park! I consider myself a well-​versed foodie in the product if you guys are dishing out top-​notch. And if you’re fortunate enough to find yourself around their truck make sure you grab some you won’t regret it!

Outstanding Aussie pies. Like a pumped up version of a pot-​pie, only better. The Swagger Daddy, with the beef and mushrooms is just like a pocket version of home cooking. And the guys are great. Salesmen at their finest!

Omg! I have been following the Pie Hole ever since a fellow Unilocaler wrote about them several months ago. I always seem to miss them or are not near where they are but was finally able to catch up with them at the Union Hill Cemetery 3^rd Friday Food Truck event. The owner was very friendly and thanked me for coming out on the hot day. I was just so excited to finally catch up with the truck. I tried the Mojo. I’m a lover of pies of any kind so I had high hopes and let me tell you it exceeded my expectations. The crust was light and fluffy with the perfect amount of crunch. The steak was super tender and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of gravy and cheese. It was so delicious. I can’t wait to catch up with the truck again to try one of their other pies.
Give them a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Mid way through a beer festival and I needed some food! What did I spy with my little eye… Pie Hole baby! I strutted up to the truck handed the fella my ticket for a «Swagger» pie; he obliged and from then on I was in Meat Pie bliss. The meat was tender, the sauce/​gravy was flavorful and not too salty and the crust was perfectly flaky! Delicious!

I had the pork pie yesterday for lunch and was pleased with it. Very good pastry and nice flavor. I wanted to try the beef but they were sold out. I’ll be there a little earlier next time they come.

Much larger than the Aussie pies I’ve ever had, but definitely not a bad thing. I recommend the Swagger Daddy which has nice tender chunks of beef and is brimming with mushrooms, barley (I think?), and the right amount of gravy. They serve them to you piping hot, so break the top and let some steam out if you’re feeding them to kids or if you’re impatient like me.
They have a red pick-​up truck instead of a standard food truck, so they can be a little hard to spot. Following them on twitter (or checking their website) can really help to narrow down the location.

A sure sign of spring is the emergence of food trucks throughout the metro. Similar to sighting the first robins, except much more tasty!
Pie Hole has been on my radar since last fall. Unfortunately I discovered them as they headed off to hibernate for the winter. They have returned to the streets and this is a can’t miss food truck!
The Mojo is a simple pie with steak, bacon, cheese, and gravy, but the flavor produced is not simple at all! The meat is incredibly tender. The gravy perfect in consistency and flavor. Bacon is not just a small part, the pie is loaded with bacon pieces. The cheese is the perfect amount. The pie crust is phenomenal and topped with the most flaky and buttery phyllo. It was hard not to imagine a sweet pie made in the same way.
The service is super fantastic. I had a nice chat with the owner and he is a super nice guy. And that Australian accent!!!
$ 7 will get you a good sized pie that will fill you up. Add another $ 2 and you get chips and a Mexican soda. Less than $ 10 and you have the most amazing and satisfying meal!
This food truck needs to be on everyone’s stalking list!!!
13^th and Oak has an area for vendors to park. It would be great to see more of these designated areas throughout the area to support our fabulous food trucks!!!
