I normally don’t write reviews because finding service that goes above and beyond is rare. Nick did exactly that. I also normally just pick the neatest coolest shoes on the rack and deal with it until they are broke in. Nick was instrumental in helping me get a shoe that I have wore from day one with no break in pains. I am not a runner but going to a runners store for tennis shoes worked out very well. Thank you Nick.

Run 816 sells quality shoes, but so does every other running store. The reason to pick this store is the ability of the owner to fit you with a pair that is right for you.

This is the best running store I have been to in KC in terms of personalized service and fit.
Pressure/​heat imprints confirm your foot shape, video walk/​run confirms your gait, then recommendations and treadmill tryouts start. You pic the best after that. It’s a complete process.
I really can’t understand why people switch running shoes without this service. Or people who are new to running and don’t do this service.

Great running store in the heart of our city. Owner is friendly and a runner’s runner with cold press coffee and Boulevard on tap after twice weekly group runs. Very nice selection for a small footprint shop so you know only the best is on display. Also cool to see local nutrition company Blendrich represented on the shelves.

There are several great running stores in the Kansas City metro but they tend to be located pretty far out into the boonies so I was very excited to hear that a place was opening in Midtown.
The store may be smaller than the others but it still has pretty much everything you need — shoes, inserts, clothes, injury prevention/​massage items, energy gels, etc. and the customer service is top notch!
The hold group runs, interval sessions, and other running-​related outings like the other stores and are well-​deserving of our business, so stop and by and check them out… you may end up having a good conversation and a beer while you browse the merchandise!
