The Beast Haunted House

Don’t waste your time or money. Took my family last weekend, spent almost $ 200. Waited in line for 3.5 hours, when we finally got in, we were shuffled in line with everyone else. This completely ruined the scary effects and atmosphere of a haunted house. Poor costumes, cheesy actors, child like props, unsafe dark maze that is more of a hazard then anything. Things got so bad, people inside were singing because they were so bored. Waiting in line outside in the cold only to come inside and wait in a hot line like cows waiting to be slaughtered. This place clearly has lost their reputation for scariest haunted house. This happens when a business becomes money hungry. Be warned! Don’t waste your money. Owner should be ashamed of herself for robbing people of their time and money. Doesn’t even deserve 1 star!!!

The haunted houses in the bottoms were amazing when I was a teenager. Last Saturday my bf and I went to The Beast with V.I.P. tickets. $ 90 Even with V.I.P. it took us an hour to get in. The other two lines, those that needed tickets and those that had tickets, each stretched 2 to 3 blocks in opposite directions. It must have taken 3 or more hours for anyone but V.I.P. ticket holders.
I can handle a reasonable 1/1.5 hour line to get in. But, when you’re finally inside, prepare to shuffle single file in a line stretching the entire way, with no spacing in between groups.
Many people poured out of the alternative exit near the final slide because we were told that wait was 2.5 hours.
The scary part for me was realizing none of us could escape had a fire broken out in the building with the hallways crammed full of immobile, frustrated and miserably hot patrons. Like a scene out of ‘Final Destination’ I started imagining the blinding smoke and flames consuming people who had no where to move. And all those who would be trampled upon and otherwise crushed to death.
The experience is ruined for me. The company Full Moon Productions that now owns the last 4 remaining haunted houses in the bottoms has no competition anymore. With admission price I believe something much bigger, better and capable of handling many more people, without crowding, must be developed.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. My fiancé and I had our first weekend off since having a baby 9 months ago and came out Saturday night and basically spent our ENTIRE night waiting in a huge line which took us 3 hours to stand in after we bought our tickets ahead of time. When we got into the house, we did not get scared once as we were literally watching those in front of us getting scared. The guy with a chainsaw we stood and looked at, he was not scary. There didn’t seem to be anyone working. We basically waited 3 hours just to wait in another line just to look at the scenery? I’ve lived in KC my whole life and it’s never been this horrible. This doesn’t deserve my $ 50. I’m shocked.
We will never be back.

This used to be a very fun and scary haunted house, and I didn’t mind the maze at the top a few years ago but now they have added more mazes to the haunted house and all it does is just clogs up the traffic.
I remember going 6 years ago and my group always had about 10 to 15 feet of space between us and the group behind me and in front of me.
This means every group will get to experience the mechanical monsters that pop up. Now it’s so packed that we are stuck in traffic and we hear the props coming out so it ruins the atmosphere.
The theme for this place is now pitch black mazes and fake doors that confuse people. They still have the actors the come out and scare you and those are the best parts when a human actor plays their roll.
They staff needs to figure out a new layout for this place. The constant traffic jam of 50 – 60 people wondering in place ruins the experience.

Went tonight, weekend before halloween. Expected a large line to get in, which was the case; however, the staff did not control the pace of letting groups in. Got held up within the first 5 mins and it turned into just one long line through the whole thing — took about an hour and a half to complete at essentially a crawl pace the entire time. The end was just a large group of people standing in a very crowded room trying to get out. This is very concerning — if there was an emergency, especially a fire, a lot of people would get hurt. Plus there was very little actual people working, just all mechanical scares, and the staff that was supposed to be assisting at the end were very rude about letting people out the side door versus the slide. Don’t waste your money on this.

Last house of the night, crowded as all crazy… Mostly dark and then a 20 min wait in a strobe lit room with 50 or more people… Hot and gross.
Slid out of there because the wait was so bad to get to the jump out.
Seemed like they had multiple entrances but ONE exit and they all merged in various spots.

The Beast is the worst haunted house I have ever been to. I went with a few friends this past Saturday night and after waiting for 2.5 hours we were finally ushered into the house. The attraction was so crowded on the inside that none of the rooms were scary because we were just standing in a line the entire time we were in the house. Clearly, the people running the show cared more about ushering as many people through to make money than they did about the experience their guests received.
Some of the actors even asked us if we were the last group to come through because they had been working for so long that night. I have never been to a haunted house where actors broke character, especially to ask if we were the last to come through.
The Beast boasts that they have a live alligator inside the attraction. The alligator is in a pool of water less than twice the size he is. It’s animal cruelty and it was extremely upsetting.
I will never go back to this haunted house or any associated with it. I couldn’t be more disappointed in the lack of humanity these people have. All they care about is making money at the expense of their guests.

Came to Kansas City to visit my fiancé and with both of us being Halloween fans, we had to visit The Beast. The Beast has been ranked amongst the top ten haunted houses to visit, so we had to make it happen. My fiancé bought tickets online ahead of time (highly recommended). The lines… oh the lines!!! So we stood in a line for about 45 minutes to an hour. Then once we got in, we literally went up a set of staircases and stood on line for most of the rest of the haunted house. Since it was so crowded, the lines were ridiculous. Needless to say, it was hard to get frightened when the people right in front of you just went through the «scary parts». At one point, you go through a pitch black maze which was amazing. The staff do a great job with costumes and popping out of corners and such. I was literally stalked by a Jester for about 10 minutes. There was also a strobe field with several doors and you had to find your own way out… that was pretty awesome. At the end you can either jump out of a two story window, go down a slide or simply exit at the stairs. I chose the two story window, because. duh! There are weight requirements… you have to weigh more than 60 pounds and less than 250. THEY WILL WEIGH YOU. Then you stand in another line… The jump was awesome and well worth it. I recommend to all but just be ready for lines.

The Beast is GREAT. I have attended every Halloween season for the past few years and have always enjoyed it. Plan ahead for the night if you are looking to spend the night being terrified by the amazing ghouls, ghosts and frights as well as the anamotronics inside and outside of this Haunt. I recommend this for almost everyone except kids probably 14 and under or even older. Although this is a great Haunt I recommend that you ask to wait slightly longer before ascending the stairs to the scares and thrills that await you. Be careful and have fun when you attend this haunt because there is truly nothing else like kc’s The Beast.

**WARNING** To really get scared you «CAN’T» have more then «3 people» in a group (WHICH IS impossible!) People using cell phones as flashlights was VERY common –_​– OVER packed with guests (mind you my BF & I got there 5pm to get in line for 6:30pm) Seem’s as if they stuff as many people as they can in.(barley could enjoy the hard work & effort they do because of this, let alone get scared) CROWD CONTROL FOR GROUPS EPIC FAIL! No joke about the fog though. The forest is hard to breath in yet one of the better parts of The Beast, even though it was flooded with people:(Over all NOT worth your money UNTIL they figure out a better system so everyone can enjoy, scream, & not be shoulder to shoulder with stragers packed like sardines!!! DONT WASTE $$$ ON ANY OF THE HAUNTED HOUSES in the west bottoms.

This is an old review that I never completed, and it’s completely incongruous to any reviews of The Beast, because this was for The-​Beast-​As-​Event-​Venue not The-​Beast-​As-​Haunted-​House.
Actually, the event space as beast is pretty neat. It’s in the «forest» section of the haunted house, which during the Halloween season is difficult to see and traverse because the air is filled with smoke machine effects. Werewolves prowl around, jump out… blah blah blah. With all of the smoke clears out, the room is very spacious, and the trees and branches they have brought in to set the forest effect make for a nice décor. We were there for a Mardi Gras party, and the drinks were flowing, the music was thumping, and all was well. Well, all was mostly well.
Problem #1 — The Beast wasn’t really designed as an event venue, and it doesn’t have the bathroom capacity for a crowd. There were two little convenience bathrooms that would typically be used by the staff. Perhaps fine when you have 10 – 20 folks around, but not with a party of 400 – 600 people. There were some port-​a-​johns outside, but that’s not exactly what you’re after when you’re at a fun party.
But, the inexplicable item that sent the needle scratching across the record and drove us from the party —- We were all having fun, dancing and drinking, and then the floor was apparently getting slippery and wet. Then it happened — the staff wheeled out 55-​gallon trash barrels of baby powder and began spreading it on the floor. This bears repeating — the staff was spreading copious cupfuls of baby powder all over the floor. Baby powder. I watched as a employee dipped a cup into the barrel, pulled it out, and proceeded to shake baby powder all over the floor like he was making a cocaine rail for Jimmy Durante. After getting over the shock of what was going on (and coming to out of a bit of a drunk stupor) we left, but not before my shoes and the cuff of my suit pants were crusted with a baby powder sludge.
So, cautionary tale, and I would hope that the handling for large events has changed since then. Also, the young people reading this will totally get a Jimmy Durante reference, right?

This place is on a whole different level from other haunted houses! The experience is well worth the cost and the wait. I recommend getting there around opening if you don’t want to wait for a long time (or if you don’t want to buy the pricier VIP tickets). Last year was my fourth visit to Beast and every time has been scary and thrilling! Watch out for the animatronics though! It’s not too fun to get hit by them!

Quite large yet in need of more actors. The werewolf woods was imaginative and the slide was great. Overpriced. Expected much more.

Whoa guys! Did you know that when it’s not haunted house season that you can rent out the «Enchanted Forest» section for private parties? Neither did I! But after attending an event there a few weeks back, in my opinion it may be the most unique venue in all of KC.
Entering from the East side of the building rather than the more-​spooky doors to the North, you go through an old western town and then suddenly you’re in a large room with massive real trees inside. Now typically these trees host creepy crawlies and werewolves, but for the right price, they’ll exercise the demons and instead bring in a DJ, bars and a dance floor!
It has a decent sized kitchen and bars for all your food and booze needs. Unfortunately, what it doesn’t have is acceptable bathrooms. One stall each for ladies and gentlemen, for this particular event they had to put porta-​johns outside. Not very classy in general, but when it’s raining that’s even more of a bummer.
Less-​than-​ideal bathroom situation or not, I guarantee that if you throw a party here, your guests will be talking. I approve.

Pretty good time if you have a free night. Just be prepare that most of it is pitch black so it does get difficult to walk. Definitely will give you a scare from time to time! Great slide too!

I wouldn’t recommend this haunted house to kids, as some parts are pitch black and they may get really scared. This is especially important because it takes about 45 minutes to go through the entire house, so if the kid gets scared, there is one exit halfway or so, but other than that, you have to keep going through the house in order to exit.
I went with 2 girlfriends and we made a train and held hands the entire time. If you like being scared, then I would definitely recommend The Beast. However, if warewolves chasing you or a fake chainsaw-​welding maniac getting about 1 foot away from you and welding the chainsaw in your face, I wouldn’t recommend going. One girl was already crying while we were waiting in line to buy tickets– I definitely wouldn’t recommend going in if that could be you!
The characters in the Beast can’t break character and can’t touch you, but they often get as close as they can. We did get lost in part of it, and had to repeatedly ask the Joker lookalike where to go before he finally answered us.
Another thing I liked about the beast was the fact that they have police officers patroling the house at all times. A police officer actually walked behind us part of the time– I could totally understand this– I’m assuming crimes and assaults happen here all the time. After all, if you saw a guy ‘bleeding’ on the floor, wouldn’t you just keep walking, assuming it’s fake? Anyway, I didn’t ever really feel threatened, but I don’t know if my nervous system could take more than the 45 minutes it took to go completely through it.
Anyway, it was a fun time. I’d definitely recommend going at least once.

I absolutely hate haunted houses. They scare the crap out of me. My guy made me go to this. Against my better judgement I agree to. Well it worked! super scarey!!! the production value was awesome and the actors refuse to break character. Wear good shoes and don’t eat too much before hand because this place will scare the crap out of you. It took me a while to calm down after we left.
