Miles at security, horrible. Horribly rude. Drinks ok. If you’re a loud talker don’t go here. They’ll kick you out. Even if you’re a hotel patron. They like this place super quiet. Reverse of DRUMS. Worst hospitality ever I’ve experience in KC nightlife.

Great beautiful historic bar. The bartender, Tony, was very accommodating with my curiosity of what homemade concoctions this bar specializes in. Since it was a quiet Friday afternoon she even indulged my creative side and enthusiastically indulged in my exotic request and made it even better with her recommendation of muddled fresh blueberry and blackberry in my martini. I asked for their homemade Lavendar honey syrup, fresh lemon juice, Tito’s vodka martini with a fresh blueberry swizzle, for swizzle my schizzle! After drinks I had the arugula salad and porky belly. Fantastic place!

I’ve always liked the feel of this place. Low light, well dressed staff, and good drinks. You’re paying a little more that your local dive bar but it’s worth it on occasion. Nice place to take a date. I suggest trying the old fashioned! Only negative is the cost, expect that most places near power and light.

A classic, classy cocktail lounge that plays up Kansas City’s heritage as a slightly seedy entertainment destination of decades gone by. The bartenders are well-dressed and old-school polite. The menu is comprised of drinks giving a wink and nod to KC heritage — e.g. «The Truman-Hattan.» Space is limited, but both times our group of four visited, we easily found a spot on a Friday night. As relaxed as the vibe of the Drum Room is, so is the service. There were some serious gaps in between rounds that had us scratching our heads a bit. I suppose we needed to remember that those fancy drinks take a little time to make. Ah well, anywhere that touts itself as a former hangout of Frank Sinatra is good in my book.

Super disappointed in this place. The bartender had no interest in mixology, she wasn’t even helpful in selecting a drink off the menu, much less creating something fun. The food was OK. If the place wasn’t styling itself as a speak easy/old Hollywood bar, it probably would have been a 3 star. Maybe it was that we were visiting on a Sunday night, but meh, worth skipping.

We grabbed a drink and relaxed while awaiting our room(we arrived early) in this nice enough bar in the, now 10 y/o rehabbed Hilton President. This is our 5th visit and stay at this historic property. Bartender was pleasant and efficient. He recommended a decent Cabernet and I was able to take it to my room once we checked in. As I said, it’s a pleasant enough setting with high top tables on a wood rich lounge reminiscent of vintage décor. Doubtless, we’ll visit it again for its convenient location.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this venue. I dig the décor, the service, the atmosphere. I especially appreciate the libations(Brambleberry) and the fact I can order meals from the Providence New American Kitchen. I take as many of my friends and colleagues to this venue as often as I can. Lunches, business meetings, and dinners before P&L or Sprint Center events. It’s one of the few places I still get into on a concert night without an hour wait! Menu items that are a must-try: PORKBELLYBITES, Meatloaf, Seasonal soups and salads, pork chop. Seriously good eats in a great spot.

I like the bar and the atmosphere but food was pretty bland last time I stopped in. Had the meatloaf and there wasn’t much to it; maybe the shrimp and grits are the way to go. Bartender is cool if not super attentive. I’ll go elsewhere next time.

Nice, dark but clubb-y(as in private-club) atmosphere at 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. I liked it fine and love the history. The downside was the wine selection wasn’t as nice as the place itself. Maybe there aren’t a lot of wine drinkers who come in, so they focus on cocktails-dunno. I tried a vin gris from I believe the Willamette Valley and it was OK but a tad oxidized and the pour was on the light side. Not horrible, but for $ 9, I expected a more solid glass of wine.

My friend and I had a quick happy hour meal here(burger special!). We ordered three dishes to eat and a round of drinks. Our service was good originally but got cold and brusque halfway through. Some of it had to do with increased business, but the staff also tripped over itself a bit with the handling of our bill. Overall, I wouldn’t seek it out again, but the happy hour deals are worth checking out.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon around 3:30 with my husband and my 4 year old son. I love history so I was excited to learn about this place. We wanted to grab a small bite to eat, dessert and some cocktails. We asked the bartender if they served food, first he ignored us, when I asked again he just shook his head yes. No eye contact, didn’t even lift his head up. He was rude and you could tell we weren’t welcome. We sat down for roughly 9 minutes(I timed him) he didn’t even look in our direction. So we got up and left. Because of this grumpy rude service we will never return. Also my son pointed out the«bugs» on the floor which were cockroaches… Unclean floors and snotty service. Sad :(

Small hotel bar with prices that are a bit high. Over $ 32 for four standard well drinks is a bit much to me. You can order food from the joining restaurant which is a plus. Service is friendly, but very poorly planned and short staffed for a concert night when they know the person always stops in after shows.

This place is swanky in an old school way. It’s not a hotel bar. It is a small, intimate bar that happens to have a hallway that leads to a hotel. I came here for a happy hour and they had some really great drink specials. Plus, their hh lasts until 6:30, a full 30 minutes longer than most near-by. And yes, I was the girl at 6:29 asking for one last Blvd Wheat and after only a pause, the bartender poured me the $ 3 draft. I noticed the pause but I was grateful she didn’t give me too hard a time. Points for non-snootiness. The 6 of us here that evening were also the youngest people in the bar by at least 20 years. But that’s okay. We’re classy. I also happened to be here on Thanksgiving(don’t judge) and there were also quite a few people here. It’s the bar to be! They serve a great martini and they have a lot of fine scotches on hand. I loved the dark wood interior and the classic feel of the place. I’ll definitely recommend it to my friends!

Very nice bar with a bit of cool history. It’s connected to the President Hilton and in 1926 was the first in KC to produce its own ice. Also Frank Sinatra and Patsy Cline have played here. Which is wild since it’s so small. It has that old classic charm.

The Drum Room has to be on the short list of places to drink if you’re into Kansas City history. Frank Sinatra played here, and it was where Mom and Dad went on fancy date nights back in the 50’s. It’s once again a sleek and swanky space, but not snooty; there’s enough sports on the TVs to keep the vibe pretty relaxed; in fact, the first time I was there a TGIF party in progress got almost raucous. The bar is well stocked, including some out-there bottles like Cynar(artichoke liqueur?). Drinks are a bit on the pricey side($ 10 each for a Pimm’s and a Sazarac), but well made. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching them come to life at the hands of the sharply dressed young bartender. The first time I went there, my friend ordered a ginger ale, and that bartender said she makes her own-and it was delicious! And if you were smart enough to make a dinner reservation at Providence, don’t hurry your drink, they’re fine with you taking it there with you!

Stopped by for a quick drink before an event. Small bar, dark atmosphere which makes it feel cozy and intimate and plenty of helpful smiling bartenders. I ordered a mojito which arrived quickly and was well made, kind of hard to go wrong with a mojito though! To me it was nice to have a quiet drink in a space made for lingering and conversation, rather than a sports bar! Interesting crowd — great for people watching. Great location downtown. Footsteps away from a great restaurant too!

Service here was good– I saw the other reviews — ate here twice and no issue. Good drink and food. I imagine there was a douche who worked here and got tossed– to nice of a place to not cater to the customer. Rainbow trout is solid– try the lobster sausage.

Whenever someone tells me «you’re staying at the Hilton President,» I only hear this: «you get to drink at the Drum Room.» This is the best hotel bar I’ve ever encountered, and it’s worth a stay at the President alone. The specialty cocktails are out of this world, and they also have a great food menu. My favorite drinks are the Sassy Champagne Cocktail(lime juice, seasonal fruit shrub, vodka, topped with prosecco) and the Ford’s Bramble Tonic(gin, lemon juice, tonic, homemade tonic syrup, and fresh blackberries.) The staff is super friendly & I love how dark it gets in there at night… it really sets the mood. I also find it awesome that people like Frank Sinatra and Patsy Cline played there. You can tell there’s a lot of history in this place. Huge fan of the Drum Room! I hope to visit again as soon as I’m in KC.

The atmosphere is awesome — dark and intimate, the drink menu looks amazing, but when I actually got my «Ida, Sweet as Apple Cider» cocktail, it had way too much bitter lemon which made it almost undrinkable. It sounded delicious on the menu — Elderflower Liquor, Shpilka Vodka, Ginger Infused Apple Cider and Bitter Lemon Syrup.($ 9.50) It sure was pretty but that drink gave me quite a pucker! Of course, I still drank it…

Hotel bars are stepping up here in KC, and the latest remodel of The President Hotel’s Drum Room Lounge is continuing the trend! As somebody who spent time in the space pre-remodel, I can say that it’s a MAJOR upgrade! The biggest physical difference is that place is tighter, more intimate and thus more welcoming. Dark lighting and dark wood. If I was staying in the hotel, I’d be here most every night for at least a drink, and even as a KC resident, I’ll still come here on occasion. The specialty cocktail list is quite impressive, though my favorite is definitely Truman’s Last Drop. I can’t quite remember the ingredients, though it has coffee ice cubes, and whiskey. Seriously, what’s NOT to like? If that’s not your flavor, they have something here to wet your whistle. As a fan of quality hotel bars, I am definitely a fan of Drum Room Lounge!
