Went there expecting a La Sala sandwich to take to the park. Was surprised to see the full bar(inside what i thought was still La Sala) and a much expanded lunch options. The menu was nice, and offered a nice variety. Having an option of salad, fries or eggplant as a side is great, and will bring me back. My kids loved the chicken alfredo sandwich and the dining outside on this unseasonably warm February afternoon.

I just visited this place last week and have no idea how I ever overlooked it! We went for lunch on a Saturday. My husband Had a meatball sandwich(he loved it and ate every bite) his waffle fries where to die for. I had the best Italian steak sandwich I have had since I was a kid growing up on the East side, hanging with the kids from the Northeast side! Could’ve left off the tomato tho, out of season I can’t stand them on anything. The olive salad… Sad I had to share it and my side of eggplant drizzled with red sauce made me have serious cravings for it the next day. We shared the starter of breaded fried artichoke hearts(4 to an order) and I nearly cried they where so yummy. They have Peroni beer on tap and it was perfect! I can NOT wait To go back. And have a muffuletta. I’m thinking it will be amazing. In this little bar/restaurant. Sitting at the counter looks fun too. Really great service.

Great food and service, the Friday and Saturday specials are a treat. The Sunday special is disappointing. The staff is very friendly. Also has outside seating.

The North End is absolutely wonderful. From their Italian food to their fried chicken(which omg you seriously have to try! Buttery and moist, really is the best chicken out there). It may be small but it fits this place perfectly. Pete the owner has done great at transitioning this place from the once famous sandwich shop to the delicious North End that I love! I will most definitely be a returning customer

I love this place. Pete, the owner, is very nice and genuine. Only place I’ve been where the owner is helping out and taking the time to talk to and welcome customers. The food is fantastic although I haven’t veered far from the chicken parm sandwich because it is so delicious!(I’ve also had the fried chicken, amazing as well) I definitely recommend the north end to everyone.

In no way, shape or form is this place a solid restaurant. This place is a bar. With cheap bar food offered. Only if I was drunk it would be satisfying and tasty. The menu is non described, so we asked a few questions, que the eye rolls from the order taker. We tried the Reuben and Italian sandwiches. Service is not good, nor is what we had. 2 very subpar sandwiches and 2 drinks for 20.00 +. The cheapest out of a jar deli pickle ever. A very disappointed lunch. Unwelcoming and unprofessional was the total vibe. A big NO go to in my book.

Being new to the area we are always hesitant to try new restaurants. We decided to try this place as it was close. We were very pleased with the service and the food was amazing. We had the prime rib and the trap sandwich. We will make this our new«go to» place when we are in the area.

My new place for boiled shrimp, fried chicken and now the Italian beef sandwich. The Chicago version, thinly sliced tender lean beef served with peppers(jalapeño included) — tasty. Very clean, family run and lots of neighborhood support. I’ll be a regular– oh, and did I mention a great place to see the Royals?

Great local place! It was packed. Planned on having Italian– but had fried chicken and it was fantastic. The north end fries for an appetizer… great– still haven’t recovered. Enjoy!

Awesome spot in Columbus Park. An awesome hidden gem in KC. This place has the best sandwiches money can buy. The reuben is mind blowing and the Don Bosco tastes like it is fresh out of Chicago. Seriously you need to check this place out. The owner Pete is super nice and the drinks are always a strong pour.

The North End has very tasty fried chicken. We stopped in at The North End for dinner while we were in the area. We had just come from the NanoBrew festival in the West Bottoms, so we were a little tipsy and a lot hungry. My cousin, who lives just a couple of blocks away, suggested we go there because they were reported to have good fried chicken, and boy was he right. We stopped in, had no trouble getting a seat, and ordered drinks and food. While the beer came out fairly quickly, the food lagged a little. I’ll chalk that up to five of the six of us ordering fried chicken, and if you want fried chicken done right, it needs to be prepared fresh. We waited for a bit, and then our food finally came out. The chicken was fantastic. I had a three-piece that included a breast, thigh, and drumstick, and it was piping hot and juicy. The chicken dinner also came with smashed potatoes and green beans. The potatoes were great, but the beans were a little lacking, as they tasted like they were probably canned beans that had been gussied up a little with bacon and black pepper. But, I’m not going to diminish the chicken because of one of the sides — I could not care less about the beans when the chicken was so good. Apparently the chicken is a special on some nights of the week. I think it might have been the special on Saturday. Special or not, it’s worth getting.

I was really surprised by the upgrades here. The new bar is nicely done and looks great. The bartender Anastasia, was friendly and helpful. We had stopped in for a beer before a Royals game and decided to come back afterward to eat. The chicken parm sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever eaten. On top of all that, the prices were reasonable. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great little local Italian deli! Very clean on the inside and still has a lot of charm. Ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich and it did not disappoint, one of the most juicy chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals as well. Can’t wait to go back to try some more good eats.

I ate lunch here a few weeks ago and I had the turkey sandwich with Swiss it was excellent with the little side olive salad. This used to be the old LaSalle’s. When Pete took over he transformed the whole place you have a beautiful bar and plenty of seating also an awesome outside courtyard. today Pete was playing solid gold oldies and I wish I could have stayed all day long because the music was awesome. I had a chicken parmesan sandwich it was very tender hot and fresh and I had an extra side of sauce. Its not my wife sugu but it was pretty good! I am looking forward to coming back here and spending some time just hanging out try one of the other famous drink specials that they have. I would recommend this to anyone who has a family to go during the day in the evening if you want to relax and have a few drinks an awesome place.

The only thing better than being from the South is eating at The North End! Pete, you’ve got boiled shrimp & fried catfish down to a science! Thank you for making my 57th birthday dinner one I will never forget! First Friday… fa get about it! Ben’s crashed in his chair & I’m already on the couch! LOL. Dinner was fabulous & our waitress was a doll! See you next Friday! My favorite day of the week now! Mmmm… boiled shrimp and catfish! 5 Stars *****

The North End is evolving, people, and it is good. I’ve eaten there many times since last June and never had any problems. Nightly specials are great. I’ve had super good and huge Eggplant Parmesan there. My carnivore friends rave about the Saturday night fried chicken dinner. The owner has made me a Muffaletta with eggplant several times and each time it was really good and made for two entire meals. I recently tried the lobster ravioli with seafood Alfredo sauce and it was excellent. I don’t often order Alfredo because it’s so bland and rich. This was nicely spiced and not overly heavy. North End has expanded their hours, added daily happy hour specials, a large patio deck and delivery in the evening. Win!

Feeling nostalgic for my early 00s years living in Columbus Park, I pulled into the LaSala’s parking lot, eagerly anticipating an old school deli sandwich in a totally mobbed up atmosphere. You can imagine my surprise when I walked through the door and into a completely remodeled space, now more bar & grill than deli. LaSala’s is gone, and The North End is here, and while it doesn’t fill the same niche, I think it’s a great spot for the neighborhood. We go to the back counter to order, where a friendly woman helped guide us through the menu. Ultimately I landed on a chicken parmesan sub while Man Candy ordered a turkey sandwich. Unsure of what to get on the side, I asked for what was best, and the counter-lady suggested the potato salad. I have to say, she was right. Good stuff, indeed. The sandwiches were great, but that potato salad was my favorite of the meal. We head to a table to wait for our order and I really soak in the atmosphere. They put quite a bit of elbow grease into the space, giving it a good remodel and an even better cleaning. Sure, it still has a number of vintage photos and signs on the walls(including mid-century middle school class portraits from the Kansas City school district!), but for the most part this place is relatively up-to-date. No frills, but everything is in working order and comfortable. The drink menu isn’t really my cup of tea. There are a small number of specialty cocktails, but they seem more designed to get you hammered than quality cocktails… of course maybe I’m just biased b/c I don’t think any self-respecting adult should drink Long Island Iced Teas. They have some excellent beers(Boulevard Imperial Pilsner, something by Deschutes) but then also serve Shock Top… which is the worst thing in the world and you should all stop drinking it immediately. Also prominently on the back bar? A Jaeger machine, making your bro’d out frat party all that much cooler. OK, I’m starting to get snarky. My point is that this isn’t the newest super cool bar in town, but rather a fantastic neighborhood spot. If I still lived in Columbus Park I’d be here for damn sure. Maybe even if I lived in River Market. But to drive across town to visit? Nah, that’s not happening, at least on the regular. Still, it made me happy and gave my heart a faint swelling of pride to see another small corner of Kansas City growing and improving the general fabric of our city.
