It’s larger on the inside than it looks from the street. That’s the only neutral thing I have to say about this pit. The restrooms are not usable and completely filthy. I wouldn’t eat anything for this reason alone. The smell is just. The. Worst. They seem to never have a liquor license. The acts get zapped on stage throughout a show. The ‘man’ claiming to own the bar verbally attacks women in front of all his patrons. Steer clear of this dump. Giving one star because there is no option to post zero.

Stopped in here to see Y&T with my buddy as I was in Kansas City for the weekend for the Yankees v Royals series. A small, sweaty, dive bar with good booze prices($ 4 for a vodka &OJ). Y&T ROCKED and a good time was had by all…

Exxxxxxcellent chicken wings. Cool ass bartender too; real nice fella. I’ve been coming here about a month now for EDM Thursdays and it’s always pretty chill.

Unsafe, low budget, and poor management. I hate writing bad reviews. On the plus side, it has an indoor and outdoor stage. Not a venue for the classy type.

Do you remember that bar Patrick Swayze walks up to and starts knocking heads together in Road House? That’s a little bit like The Scene, except the staff and clientele are way nicer, fairly well behaved and I bet the drinks are colder.(Technically I haven’t had a drink here yet because I’ve been the driver, but I’m going off of hearsay.) Located off of a bare strip of 40 Highway in beautiful Independence, The Scene has been branching out a bit from its bevy of weekend cover bands to booking larger and more well known concerts. Most of those concerts are of the louder and nostalgic mainstream rock acts, many of which that I did not know were still a thing, but truthfully should do well in this spot. The bar features a fairly decent PA and a couple of levels. A main floor in front of the stage that does stretch a bit towards the bar and then a couple of steps up to a higher level with high tops and chairs where depending where you are sitting features various views of the stage. The décor is a bit dated with mirrors on the wall next to the stage, older shag carpet and 80s neon lights for effect, but it works. Feel free to check out the calendar for the entertainment schedule and please save some cash for a cab. You are in a small pocket of noncivilization and it’ll get you home safe.
