True story… I ate here today and this quaint little bar made my life a little more worth living. I consumed the majestic Philly Cheese Burger with tots and shared a basket of deep fried cheese. It was as though an angel of the Lord had prepared them! Even the Pepsi tasted perfect. I wish no harm to this establishment… only blessings and the smiting of their enemies.

Great local dive bar. Good food specials. Just don’t expect anything fancy– but that’s what makes it great!

Pretty good for a quick and cheap lunch. Twin City Bar & Grill isn’t much to look at. But they have a nice patio and the service is very down to earth. I think I paid 7 – 8 for my entire lunch. And it was pretty darn tasty. You can do a lot worse than this place if you’re in MidTown and need somewhere to have a quick bite.

I have been eating here for years. The jalapeño cheeseburger with onion rings is excellent here. The staff and owners are very friendly.

Really weak service. This is a local dive bar and that’s GREAT– in fact that’s why I come here. But tonight I brought my friends and family thinking we were going to have a great time with a bunch of drinks and a little keno. Nope! We were ignored for the most part. Again — weak. The sad thing is I will be back, but dang. Weak. So much potential!

If you could bottle the feel of a divey New England bar, this would be it. I LOVEIT! I just moved to the area, so I’m sure I’ll start frequenting this gem, as it’s walking distance from my new digs. The only thing that could make this place better would be a Big Buck Hunter machine, but we can’t have everything we want. :) Cheap beer and pub food makes me happy.

I live here. It’s my to go to place on the way home from work for a beer. The food is bar food. Service is GREAT and personal. It’s the neighborhood Cheers. Even if you’re not a local you’ll fit in here.

Love love love this place!!! Great hang out after work with friends! Patrick and Ryan in the kitchen ROCK. Even on a busy night when I just wanted three chips for my dip, after giving me much deserved crap, they have me the chips! I felt the love. Love Christina and Kerri!!! Best bartenders you could ask for! Best watering hole in town with amazing food

Much more than a dive bar a decent out door deck complete with TV. Drinks are reasonable and parking pretty good. The local clientele is memorable and regular. A nice place away from home.

This. Place. Is. My. Home. Cheap drinks, friendly atmosphere and legit food. Try it out on a Friday night and order the shrimp dinner special – can’t beat it! Solid home cookin’ menu, easy off-street parking, and an upgraded back-patio. Definitely a great alternative dive bar, that’s just enough off the beaten path to avoid the normal Westport traffic.

Love this place! Best neighborhood bar hands down! The patrons are friendly the bartenders are awesome! The music is always cool and different depending on who’s playing the jukebox! BEST tostadas on Taco Thursday – homemade salsa and stacked full of meat and beans! A side of tots is a must and the chips and cheese are great! Geez I love this place and will be there often!

They advertise Hot Spiced Shrimp on the building. I was looking forward to Cajun style spicy shrimp lunch with potatoes and corn on the cob. When I went in for lunch at noon the front door was still locked(they forgot to unlock it) but the side door was open. I ordered the spicy shrimp with potatoes and corn on the cob. When I got my food and the potatoes were barely warm. The shrimp had absolutely no spice on it what so ever that I could taste. The lady at the bar was very friendly and the service was fine. When I complained about the shrimp having no spice the cook said it did. I could not finish my meal. I will not return the this establishment.

This is an old school tavern. All the basics are covered — good Bloody Mary, daily drink specials, home cookin’ style daily menu, dart machine in the back, friendly bartender. It’s dark and seemingly filled with regulars. Thumbs up for your classic dive bar.

hands down: favorite place to get a specialty cheese burger. Ya know the one you crave and drool over all week … yea that the one! Chris is a great cook and they have excellent specials all the time! I go here all the time for happy hour, good food, and great company! They have a covered patio with heaters too and in the summer the patio is open and comfy! They just put a flat screen outside too for game days! I would recommend going and trying one of the specials! The owner and staff are always welcoming and helpful to make choices too! Oh and the quesadilla! Holy moly — so good! The atmosphere is a divey fun KC place where you can walk in, find a seat, and hang out comfortably for hours! Cheers friends! Go try!

Over the last month or so, Twin City has become a regular stop on my bar rotation. The drink prices are fair and the food is pretty darn good too. Which is a huge plus when looking for a later night food, not Taco Bell. I had the BLT and tots… both were cooked well and very filling. Twin City is a bar you can stop by, get a drink and some eats and actually talk to the person next to you. It seems like a lot of places are… wait for the old person voice… too damn loud. The service can be a bit hit or miss at times but still super friendly. So, yes I am a fan!

Recurring theme: I love townie bars. It’s dark and drab and the staff is killer nice! They have a chill patio that’s perfect for day drinking… or night drinking. I’ve only ever had the shrimp there because it’s such a good deal. It’s also not a scary thing to order there :) You can find whatever poison you prefer and the person serving it to you is going to be nice as all get out. I can’t really find a fault. p. s. the ladies bathroom is like a rainbow threw up in there… I think, I may be confusing it with another one.

This is a perfect example of your friendly neighborhood bar. Cold drinks. Good food. An attentive and non corporate staff. Feel free to pull up a stool and make some new friends. The bar also features a dart board and juke box. A smoker’s patio and parking lot are out back.

Shrimp all day? Dive bar? Went there expecting that, based on Unilocal reviews. Well, maybe they have shrimp all day, but only on Fridays and Saturdays. I went there on a Monday and was given the bad news. For shrimp every day, they referred me to Jazz on 39th St. Maybe I’ll return to Twin City Bar on a Friday or Saturday. Dive bar? Initially I was going to disagree with that. It seems too nice for the«dive» classification. I’d call it an old time neighborhood pub, and better than most. Resemble Cheers on TV. But then I walked into the men’s room. No lock on the door, not even a latch. Door knob doesn’t work. Changed my mind. Yup, you were right. It’s a dive bar.

«Shrimp All Day» reads the sign. it’s a crude drawing, seemingly guileless, even. The sign doesn’t lie, we soon found out. It had been a long day. 100 degree heat index. We were moving for what, 8 hours(a stressful story that will be related in a separate entry once that chapter has been closed. Yes, we’re still moving. Please don’t ask or you’ll need to buy me a drink at Twin City). It was at a ridiculous point after another trip back to our old house 45 miles away. Our friends suggested an evening outing. We agreed this was a fabulous idea. We couldn’t fathom getting in a car again, though. It’s really nice to have a bar within fair walking distance. Twin Cities is it. Now, Kansas City is hardly the Twin Cities, let’s be real here. That name kind of annoys me because it’s misleading! I suppose what they mean is the whole KCKKCMO thing and it *is* right on the state line and all. The four of us walked in, hoping for the divey, neighborhood vibe and we were rewarded with just that. Wonderful! The K decided to test out the promise of «Shrimp All Day» and indeed, a giant pile of shrimp quickly appeared, brought to us by he who appeared to be the chef, an avuncular sort who also brought us a huge platter of what might possibly be the best tater tots I’ve had since Junior High cafeteria days(why did they taste so good back then?!) Drinks were made strong, the crowd inside grew progressively… enthusiastic, so our small group went out back«under the tent» on the patio. Not the most picturesque patio in town, but it does the trick. I’m sure I’ll be a regular here. That’s the whole point of a place like this, isn’t it?
