I was recommended to Captain Bruce’s for my wife’s PADIOW training. They provided a japanese speaking instructor for my wife, since that’s her first language, which was great. On Tuesday, I went with another dive op in Honolulu, but Wednesday and Thursday, I joined my wife on the boat during her ocean dives. For Tuesday, I brought a friend of mine of 22 years, who has been certified for about 20, but only dove an average of 3 times a year. On the positive side, a couple of folks on the boat were pretty nice, the dive sites were decent, although we went to the same fairly boring/dead reef for the 2nd dive both days. I can’t really blame them for that, I’ve got to assume it’s about conditions, not being cheap/lazy. On to the issues. it’s hard to know where to start. 1) All rental gear, including the gear used for training PADIOW students has a broken computer, with no depth gauge or bottom timer. 2) My wife’s instructor was incredibly rude/surly to me, and smiling at my wife the entire time. Her name is «June», although since she’s japanese by birth, that’s obviously not her real name. 3) I called repeatedly for two weeks prior to reserve spots for myself on wednesday and thursday, and my wife’s OW class. When it came time to dive on Wednesday, we were told tuesday night that they had no spot available for my best man/best friend, after I repeatedly offered to reserve the spot with a CC. 4) They took forever, and I mean, around 90 days to post my wife’s certification with PADI. I would absolutely never recommend ANYBODY to this outfit!

I had a great time with the new captain Bruce crew. My family dived the Maki wreck. It started with being picked up at the Hawaiian Hilton pier and an hour cruise to the other side of the island. They had all the gear in the boat. One of the guides stayed with me since i am very slow to descend. We caught up to everyone midway around the wreck. This was a top notch tour. I will go with them again.

Captain Bruce’s took great care of us today! Everything was top notch, from the«party bus» that picked me up in KoOlina to the crew and the boat. Only 5 divers on the boat with 2 divemasters and the captain, and they took care of everything(setting up and switching over all my gear, etc.) Loved the warm freshwater shower with shampoo provided! Thanks and Aloha!

Don’t dive with these guys. They took us out for a 90′ wreck dive in 10′ swells during a kona wind condition. They didn’t even warn us of the danger. No other dive shops on the island were out that day, we learned later. It was awful and very dangerous. The dive master didn’t(named Joann) didn’t even inquire about our safety after my dive partner and me had to abort the dive after struggling in the water and losing some of our gear. The captain, Angela, was the exception. She was very professional getting us back on the boat, and risked her own safety trying to get a 3rd diver back on the boat. But steer clear of this shop.

Captain Bruce gets two thumbs up from me and my crew! A group of friends and I went to Oahu — four divers and 2 non. Our experienced ranged from newly certified to PADI instructor. They were able to accommodate all of our abilities — EVERYONE had a fantastic time! I chose Captain Bruce over all of the other dive companies I researched primarily because of the customer service from Mark, the owner. Mark exuded the feeling and meaning of the aloha spirit. Mark patiently answered a million and a half questions I had before and during the trip. I cannot stress how wonderful and gracious he was. We were pleasantly surprised by the Mercedes«Party» limo/bus that came to pick us up at KoOlina. We arrive to the boat in complete luxury. Most of the group dove for 4 days plus a night dive. Because there were four divers in my group we got our own guide. The sites were amazing, the waters clear. The crew and guides were top notch — thank you Alan and CJ! April, our captain, during most of our voyages was great too! Dive briefings were informative. The boat was amazing — nice to have that warm water shower and thanks for providing the towels too! During one of the more surge-y dives, the lanyard to my brand new under water camera snapped and the camera floated away. The crew spent our surface interval completing a search pattern for my camera. I had given up before we even surfaced — but they didn’t lose hope!(but no we didn’t find it ;(). Mark and his crew run a top notch business. They are fantastic at what they do. I will always choose Captain Bruce when diving on Oahu! Mahalo for wonderful times and memories!

I had a great first diving experience with Captain Bruce. Mark, the owner was great to deal with.. The boat and crew were well organized and even though the boat was full, it did not feel at all crowded. They provided all the gear and the instruction was first rate. There were a number of first time divers on the trip and the crew was great in making sure that we were all safe and helping each of us acclimate at our own pace. The dive site was crystal clear and we saw an incredible amount of fish, a large sea turtle and an octopus. Alan, our instructor went to great lengths to make sure we all got to see and experience what the site had to offer. There was an ample supply of drinks and snacks in between and after the dives and the hot shower was a great finish to the dive. Mark runs a great operation with a group of enthusiastic and knowledgeable crew that will give you a great experience.
