Ginny Grotholson

Words will never be able to express my gratitude for Ginny… My husband and i decided late in the game to have an un-​medicated birth. It was not enough time for a 12 week bradley course, so Ginny created something custom for us in our home. She crafted exactly what we needed. When my water broke and no labor started for hours, she was my advocate in supporting me even when the doctor was pushing me to do something i didnt want to do. (She was also our doula). This woman got me through my un medicated delivery — i will forever be thankful! Ginny, we love you!!!

How do I explain the awesomeness that is Ginny? She’s the perfect combination of Midwestern practicality, Southern California panache, and Texan charm. I found her Bradley Birthing Course to be informative and reassuring. I wanted to try natural childbirth, kinda like I’ve always wanted to try skydiving. It sounds scary, but lots of people have tried it and survived, right? Now if I’d have showed up for skydiving class and the instructor had told me to just trust the process and let go, I would have bailed. Same goes with a childbirth class. I wanted details, people, details! I needed to know what I could do to prepare, how to could deal with the pain, all that could possibly go wrong… I needed to confront my deepest fears about childbirth and come out with the determination to pull through. I got to do all that and more with Ginny. I appreciated her directness, candor, humor, and, of course, her willingness to repeat herself over and over (I suffered from some pretty severe pregnancy brain, which has since been eclipsed by even more debilitating mommy brain. Doh!)
When it came time to decide whether or not to have a doula, my husband and I were on the fence. In the end, we figured it couldn’t hurt, so we might as well. Rather than start interviewing people, we asked Ginny and she said yes. Now even though we liked Ginny and trusted that she knew her stuff, we weren’t particularly bonded to her or anything. I had my reservations. All the doulas I’d seen on YouTube were pretty brawny. Ginny, on the other hand, was built like a pixie. I could crush this woman if so much as thought about leaning on her– or so I thought. You know how Shakespeare wrote «And though she be but little, she is fierce»? Well, he must have been talking about Ginny GrothOlson. This woman is tough as nails. Without going into the details of my birth experience, let me just say that she played an indispensable role. In the end, with Ginny’s support, I did trust my body and let go. I’m eternally grateful to her for all that she did to help me achieve a natural childbirth.

My husband and I just had our first baby in July. Ginny was our Bradley Class teacher and our doula. I would highly recommend her for both! As a Bradley teacher she is informative, makes the content accessible, and encourages questions (both during class or outside of class). I learned so much about pregnancy and labor– it helped me feel more prepared and less anxious. I liked how Ginny taught specific actions that I could take to improve my pregnancy and labor– this made me feel less overwhelmed by this new experience. I appreciated how Ginny was never judgmental or pushy– always encouraging and levelheaded. I know that the Bradley class was a big factor in having a healthy pregnancy. Looking back at my labor, it is clear how Ginny’s teachings prepared my husband and I to know what was happening and how to respond. I encourage any expecting parents to check out Ginny’s class.
We also asked Ginny to be our doula. This was one of the best birthing decisions we made. She was so helpful and calm and she thought of ways to help that we didn’t even think of asking. My husband spoke with her on the phone throughout my labor to get input on my progress and suggestions. Ginny met us at the birth center and played a key role in helping me stay calm and relieving pain during contractions. After the birth, she checked on us and was available for any questions. I can’t even count the number of times durning my pregnancy and this last month with my newborn that I have called or texted Ginny with questions. If you are expecting– hire a doula! And if you are lucky enough to live near Ginny– I 100% recommend her!

I always knew that when I got pregnant someday that I would want to have my baby as naturally as possible. So after being married for a few years my husband and I were so excited when I got pregnant. We searched for a Bradley Method class near us and we were extremely blessed to find that Ginny was our teacher. She was so caring, knowledgeable, funny, and very easy to talk to about anything! I can honestly say that we couldn’t have done it without her and her class. She was available anytime we had a question or concern and when I went into labor she visited us as the hospital and was a tremendous supporting coach to us. We highly recommend her to anyone, without a doubt it was the best decision we made for our pregnancy. We love you Ginny and can’t thank you enough!!!

After finding out we were pregnant, my husband and I decided to have a doula for the birth of our son last year. Since we’d known Ginny for a few years, she was a natural choice for us. Even though she lived over an hour away, my heart was set on having her attend our birth as I’d spoken to her extensively in the past about the births of her own children.
Ginny was everything a doula should be. She helped me through contractions when my husband needed a break, encouraging me the whole time. We ended up needing a hospital transfer and she stayed with us the entire time, up until my son was born.
Afterwards she has continued to check on me and my son, always inquiring after our well being. Probably my favorite thing that she did though, was keep a journal of my labor, starting at the very first sign, up to his birth. It’s really nice to have that to go back through and see the progression.
Ginny is such a warm-​hearted, knowledgeable and caring person, I couldn’t recommend anyone better. I feel very fortunate she was there for me and my family.

My wife and I went to Ginny’s Bradley Method Natural Childbirth class, and it was excellent. Ginny helped to explain everything about birthing, and answered all of our question. One of the most helpful things in the class is they way Ginny answers question. She will tell you both sides. Ginny is very knowledgeable and kind. If you take her class you will love it and learn a lot great information.
