Open Locksmith

I first met the locksmith on 12/​11/​2014 to have some locks re-​keyed/​replaced for the homeowner who is a relative! The changes were to: replace a single deadbolt with a double deadbolt on the FRONT DOOR and re-​key the DOOR TO THE GARAGE and BACK DOOR! The cost: $ 295. At first, all were satisfied with the work/​price! But an issue arose when copies were made of the new key. Home Depot made keys from 2 different machines BUT NONE OF THE EXTRA KEYS WORKED ON THE BACK DOOR lock!!! The guy at HD explained that it HAD to be the lock itself! Just to make sure, Ace Hardware also made a key — AGAIN, THE BACK DOOR LOCK WAS THE ISSUE; IT WORKED FROM THE INSIDE BUT YOU HAD TO JIGGLE IT; BUT NOT AT ALL FROM THE OUTSIDE! So, I met the locksmith back at the residence on 01/​14/​2015 to check out the problem and after some diagnosis; he explained to me that the issue was 2 of the doors had 5-​pin locks and the 3^rd (BACK DOOR) is a 6-​pin lock. Suffice it to say I was taken advantage of and fell victim to the ruse (EVEN THOUGH I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER) to have to pay again for SERVICES THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN RENDERED, THOUGH INCORRECTLY on the BACK DOOR lock! This all could have all been taken care of with no extra money spent if the locksmith had just explained to me during the original service call that he «pinned» the BACK DOOR differently from the other doors! I FOOLISHLY allowed him to fix the lock for all of the keys to work; but while I was speaking with the homeowner who was desperately disputing the $ 90 fee, the locksmith (who was using a hand-​held automated credit card machine) told me that he was only charging $ 50!!! He hurriedly had me sign the receipt and LEFT! Honestly, he really didn’t change the amount, but actually swiped the credit card for $ 90 which showed up on the bill today! Very, very deceptive business practices! WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! PLEASE BEWARE! They also have another number listed as 866−460−1354!

WORST LOCKSMITH IN KATY, TX! STAY AWAY! They BAIT you in, then SWITCH the price! Management of this company erroneously believes that it’s okay to give you a low price over the phone to get them through your front door, then increase the price when they arrive to do the work! They will tell you a price over the phone, then tell you later that there are other charges involved. There was nothing special that I requested — just rekey two lock cylinders. The price they told me when they arrived was nearly DOUBLE the price over the phone… and they charge $ 5 per key??? Are they made of gold??? Stay away from this company and save yourself the headache!
