I stopped into this shop while visiting family and friends in town and loved it! The shop owner, Sheryl, was there and happy to help. As a beginner, I had lots of questions about the best yarn to use for several gift projects I have planned. She patiently let me look around and touch all the beautiful yarns and then helped me find the best yarns for what I had in mind. I finally settled on a yarn and color that ended up not being the right weight. Sheryl immediately offered to order it and brought out the color book to see if I liked another color even better before she placed the order. Definitely recommend this shop! It’s a bit small, but if she doesn’t already have what you’re looking for, she will help you get it.

I got back into knitting a few years back and was looking for a store out in the Katy area. I couldn’t of walked into a better place. The owner of the shop was very encouraging and supportive and knowledgeable. The store has a selection of quality yarns. Which I personally use because it’s usually for a gift or myself. I love alpaca, silk or wool over acrylic. I also found out that the store had weekly sit along knitting group’s. The ladies in these groups are fun, supportive and will help you with anything.

I’m visiting from out of town and always like to check out new shops. Unfortunately Yarntopia has a very small selection of yarn, most of which is mass market(i.e Cascade and Berroco) that’s easy to find elsewhere. The shop carries some hand dyed yarns but in very small amounts with limited selection — no sweater quantities, for example. Not worth a special visit.

I stopped in for the first time, and was very pleased with what I found. No, it’s not a huge store and doesn’t have the largest selection, but what they do have is very nice and clearly displayed. When I want inexpensive yarn — and I often do — I’ll go to Michael’s or poke about online. When I want really nice yarn, I like to be able to go in and see it, touch it… Both types of shopping experiences have their value, and I can honestly say that this was a good experience. I found the sales lady helpful when I needed her, but not hovering over my shoulder. I appreciate that.

We really enjoy this shop. The owner, Cheryl, is very patient and helpful. They give lessons in crochet and knitting and have a lively knitting group on Thursday nights. The yarn is more expensive than most, but it’s the good stuff. So soft and high quality.

I guess if you have a ton of money to drop on yarn this is the place for you. I don’t and I am certainly not good enough to make mistakes on yarn that cost so much. They did have a huge variety of needles and yarn. But not for me.

Hello, this shop is a six minute WALK from my parents’ house in Cinco Ranch. Any one who knits or crochets will understand how incredibly AWESOME that is! So here is my review from my visit just earlier: This is a well-stocked store with a nice variety of yarn and needles. I saw several different yarns that I want for myself but it is comin’ up on Christmas so gift knitting is well underway. Cheryl, who I believe is the owner, was SO friendly. We talked for a good while about travel, and she also helped ease my mind about a concern I had. That is actually why I stopped by — to get a pros opinion on a project I’m working on. I walked away with yarn for another project and reassurance that my project is good to go. I was even good by not buying for myself. I would definitely recommend this store! I know for a fact that I will probably be stopping by whenever I visit my parents.

I must say I was a bit skeptical about visiting this yarn shop. One, it was my first time going to a legit yarn shop besides Hobby Lobby. Two, because it was my first time at a legit yarn shop with hard core knitters I was a bit nervous that they might notice my beginner knitting skills and run me out of the shop laughing and pointing. But guess what?!! None of that happened. There was a knitting circle going on when I arrived. The shop was big but not too big. And one of the ladies that worked there left the group to help me and show me around the shop. She gave me some great tips for a project I was working on. I will definitely be back!

My parents live near Yarntopia, and every time I go home we stop by to check things out, but I don’t know why we still go back. Every single time I go in there I am ignored to check out the lack of yarn selections on my own. Even when I actually need a question answered or some detail, I can’t get it. The women who run the store typically sit on the couch, working on whatever project they have going and don’t seem to mind whether I’m there or not. Not to mention the yarn selection is pretty terrible. Even when they do happen to have a brand of yarn I like, they tend to have about 4 colors. I guess it’s a great place to go if you like Debbie Bliss yarn and being ignored. Terrible customer service.
