Hella cool & unique Antiques plus THEBESTICECREAM on the Island! The ice cream is smooth, creamy, everything you want. Dave’s ice cream is like your standard generic supermarket brand ice cream.

Meh — nothing special, unless you really like antiques. I went in because I heard they sold Tropical Dreams ice cream(which they do)… But the ice cream seemed too hard(over frozen?) and it didn’t compare to Dave’s Ice Cream across the street(go there instead).

This antique store is so cool. We almost passed it because the sign outside the building says it’s called Discovery Antiques(see photo), not Antique Arts like the blue book says. The store is like a über small museum of oddities. Just the front of the store alone is fun to check out, but then to find out that they serve ice cream at the back of the store?! Bonus. The kitchy-ness of it all is worth checking out and it’s a great treat when you’re heading to, or coming back from Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park. I had a scoop of the Lava Java on a waffle cone, which is Kona ice cream with marshmellows, chocolate chips and macademia nuts. Best ice cream I’ve ever had? No, but definitely worth a try.

Who would have thought that you would find the most sublime ice-cream in an Antique Arts store? Tropical Dreams has a little ice-cream outpost in an antiques store off the Mamalahoa Hwy on the Big Island. I am not a fan of white chocolate at all. I find it too sweet. So when a friend suggested I try the white chocolate ginger ice-cream, let’s just say I was very skeptical. OMG!!! I was in heaven. The flavors blended perfectly. It’s definitely some of the best ice-cream I’ve had. I had the lychee which I thought was a little too sweet. If you are on your way from the Kohala Coast to Kona, definitely stop by and have some of the chocolate ginger ice-cream. Not all of the Tropical Dreams outposts carry this flavor, so be sure to call and ask.
