I got to stay in my car throughout the whole process of getting my amazing meal, which consisted of: a double layer of sear-sizzled 100% pure beef mingled with special sauce on a sesame seed bun and topped with melty American cheese, crisp lettuce, minced onions and tangy pickles. Absolute heaven! Once again McDonald’s has set the bar for all other contenders. And, serves as a beacon for the local burger establishments as they grope blindly in the dark trying to keep up. This just goes to show that combing fresh world class ingredients with top notch customer service is a guaranteed win. Jehovah bless you McDonalds. Five stars.

We usually stop here before heading back toward Kona. It’s usually around 9 pm and we go through drive thru. We had a full day driving around the whole island and we were hungry and worried about finding a place open for food. So we stopped here and even though it was late, we got piping hot food. Everything was made to our satisfaction. No old oil taste. I would even say it was the best McDonalds meal of my life, hence the need to review. Fries were perfectly hot, crispy, lightly salted. To top it off, they have FRIED, not baked(blah), apple pie! Yummy! Woohoo! Plus, in the drive thru, we were serenaded by coqui, little frogs that sound like birds.(I know Hawai’i wants these buggahs caught, so in case you’re looking, there are some over here. But if you’re like me and only get to hear them once in awhile, then it’s interesting and unique to wait in drive thru at night and hear their serenade.) So, in conclusion, if you’re in search of that fried apple pie,(that is slow to make a reappearance back on the mainland), then whoomp, here it is. P. S. Sorry no real pic of the elusive fried apple pie. It was scarfed down. But I’ll upload a receipt pic.

No sense of urgency! Food Luke warm if that! Coke — very carbonated and good! Staff seems to lack good customer service skills, I feel like we are bothering them when making our order! We have been to this location at least many times — we always leave disappointed! Some members of staff look confused like they have not been properly trained! Manager sets a horrible example for staff talking on her phone, swinging her arms around, touching her face and hair constantly, and moving so so incredibly slow. Cashier was not in any hurry to take orders from the line in the dining room.

Read a lot of negative reviews. However, we had a pleasant experience. The guy at the drive thru was very patient and answer all my weird questions and even gave me tips. We ordered a medium coffee. It’s real Kona Coffee. I was pleasantly surprised. Since McDonald coffee normally tastes water down. Their sausage egg mc muffin was fresh. The English muffin was soft and lightly toasted in the appropriate areas. The sausage patty was plump and juicy, unlike where you would normally get a dried up piece. The medium coke was a little over filled with ice. Spam, eggs, and rice was nothing out of the ordinary. I can make this stuff at home and it would taste the same. Only complaint is that this is hawaii after all and you are serving Asian folks. Carry siracha or any form of hot sauce would have been nice.

So, after seeing some of the other mixed and negative reviews, I was frankly surprised by the friendly folks at the counter and the reasonable quality of the food… The Quarter Pounder was hot and fresh, and the fries were just up, also nice and piping hot. Only odd thing was breakfast was already over(they start serving lunch at 1000) and I was hoping for a little spam and eggs… I’d come back!

I hate this place for the crazy girl that works the drive-through. On 4⁄16 around 10am for breakfast on our way to Kealakekua Bay park but they were already serving lunch. Asked for a sprite with no ice but the crazy drive thru girl couldn’t even do that right. Asked again for no ice and she gave me attitude and looked at me like I was messing with her. I ignored her and her attitude, grabbed my food and started driving off… then she screamed out an obscenity. Classy. It’s a Mcdonalds so I don’t expect much in terms of food quality or service, but being yelled at because they messed up the order? Nice.

Not sure how this McDonald’s slipped through the cracks in terms of style, but it looks more like somebody’s bungalow that got converted. Parking is available in front. The driveway in is a bit on the steep side though. The kitchen has all the fixings like any other location. I tried the Portuguese Sausage breakfast. It tastes a bit like garlic sausage, but tastier. I can’t get enough of the unique-to-Hawaii dishes at McDonald’s.

The haupia pie is great(Hawaii specialty, I guess). The restrooms are pretty bad. The interior décor is nice for a McDonald’s. The inside of the restaurant is really cold compared to outdoors, which is a bit unsettling when you first walk in.

Often forgets to give products and/or condiments. Be sure to check to see you get all of your food

We stopped by here on our way to Ka Lae for a lunch and for haupia pie. We were a little disappointed about the lack of haupia pies, but we did get to try their peach mango pies and macademia nut iced coffee. The pies authentically tasted like mangoes, and the coffee was a little bland. If you’re heading to the south end of the island, be sure to eat before you go. This is one of the last places where you can stop to grab a bite. It lost two stars for being sticky everywhere.
