While exploring the boardwalk we came upon The Pavilion. $ 3 corona light drafts said the sign so we found a stool, ordered up and enjoyed a drink while people watching. Service was good and fast, because we were 2 of 4 people there. We asked the bartender, «where is everyone?» because Keansburg was a ghost town. They told us on a cloudy Tuesday it happens, but the weekends have been very full. The kitchen was closed but they served the usual fried bar food. The open to the boardwalk atmosphere was great. If you’re a dedicated people watcher you will spot many species here, lol.

I’m not sure I would eat the food here but I have witnessed others doing so with no visible signs of trauma afterwards. It’s a seasonal boardwalk restaurant which means they clean their equipment seasonally… jus sayin. The real reason to sit here is the bar, especially if you can catch a seat on the end of the bar(The Catbird’s Seat). If you like people watching then this is the place. You will see everything that the human zoo of Keansburg Boardwalk has to offer. Hot single mummies droppin their kids off on a ride and then running over to the bar for a quick nip? Check. Drunken father’s hiding from their wives and getting yelled at when caught? Check Teenage girls trying out their fake ID’s for the first time? Check Fist fights between drunken patrons arguing over condiments? Check. I can’t express how much I love this place, it truly is the most entertaining bar in town. I have many fond memories of cute single mom’s looking at me pleadingly for a quick beer, before lil johnny finishes his ride. Maybe the food’s good, I dunno never been drunk enough to try. Also, avoid the tap beer, a bottle or can is a safer bet.

The Pavilion is a pretty cool place to sit and eat during a fun afternoon at the Keansburg Boardwalk. I do like the bar there better… who wouldn’t? :)
