Poppa Pizza

I rate a 3.5.this place is in dire need of a revamp. foods not bad prices aren’t terrible and they have daily specials not alot of places in this area do. everything is baked no fried foods here.

We drove down to Keansburg Amusement Park with the kids and before hitting the long road back home we decided to have something to eat. Our GPS gave us this location and we went with it and I’m so happy it did. Not only was the service extremely great but the pizza was awesome too. We ordered some garlic knots while they were freshly baking our pie and I must say the sauce was incredibly tasty and NOT watery as some other places. The pie was sizzling hot when it came to the table and the gentleman behind the counter was courteous enough to come to the table, cut it and serve it for us. Kudos to this pizzeria! Too bad I don’t live anywhere close or else they would have a loyal customer.

Straight up 4-​star pizza. I decided on Poppa Pizza out of curiosity since a lot of pizza joints around here have a problem with using fresh ingredients. Poppa’s confirmed that they do in fact use fresh mushrooms. The guy who took my call even said «market fresh».
So I got a modest half-​mushroom pizza for delivery. The driver was punctual and friendly. I even opened the box in front of him and told him that the pizza looked amazing, which it did.
On to the tasting. The sauce they use is extremely rich, and in this case it was a really good thing. It complimented the mushrooms nicely. The mushrooms were sliced nice and thin – just how I like them cut on my pizza. The cheese wasn’t runny. It held onto the pizza nicely and allowed for a «clean bite» each time so that cheese wasn’t getting all over the place.
The only con’s, which are minor considering that I had an overall very pleasant pizza experience was that the crust seemed too plain and bread-​like. They are also a cash-​only restaurant, so I had to run to an ATM while my order was in the oven. With a better crust and debit/​credit capabilities, Poppa Pizza would be a 5 star.

Tiny and dive-​ish, Poppa Pizza is for a true pizza fan. Yes, sometimes the pie can be a hit-​or-​miss (90−95% hit!), but the fair price and the awesome crust is well worth it! Holds up great for a week in the fridge!
