We ate here on Father’s day and arrived at 1:30 anticipating a large crowd. There was only one party ahead of us when we arrived. Our waiter appeared either shy or disinterested. Our order had to be placed twice as our waiter claimed the«server» went down. It took almost 45 minutes to get our appetizers and we waited over an hour to get our food. During that time our waiter stopped at our table to check on us once. Our son at one point asked for another water and after 20 minutes we had to ask another server for it as our waiter was no where to be found. Once we got our food, part of our order was wrong. The food that was delivered according to our order was good. At this point less than half of the restaurant was occupied with several tables needing bused. There was no manager to be seen at all during our visit. We complained to the hostess on our way out in which we received an apology but no other amends offered at all. Worst dining experience in 25 years.

Very disappointed ! We forgot our credit card in the black folder… Came back 40 minutes later to retrieve it… Talked to the waitresses she said she didn’t see it… we had to cancel the card… Management look up for dishonest servers!!!

For some reason I keep giving Applebee’s chances. They are what they are… not great… not the worst, but they’ll do in a pinch. I personally haven’t ever been fond of their meals. My husband loves the new burger with egg on it and that is his go to when we go to Applebee’s. I generally just stick with the appetizers… the shrimp, boneless wings, chicken wanton tacos, and green beans are usually what I’ll choose from. So if you are looking for a fabulous meal, it wouldn’t be my recommendation. Though it does lend itself to group settings because of the variety on their menu. Just limit your expectations as it is a chain restaurant so plan accordingly.

Standards for being greeted were not up to par. We were at the podium for 3 minutes before any acknowledgment was made. Our server promptly got our drink and appetizer order but didn’t take our entrée order for some time. This is a live review and we have currently been waiting 20 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. He did however explain that the kitchen was backed up after waiting some time. To their credit it was very busy. Initial impressions of our appetizer were good. The spinach artichoke dip was very basic. The steak quesadilla was very good, the burger sliders flavor was amazing however the bun seemed really hard. 33 minutes in entrees have not arrived. Refills have been prompt. Food arrived at 40 minutes. Steak was over cooked. At one hour my girlfriend is still waiting for a new steak. Steak came out perfect the second time. Server kept us informed of the status of our steak the whole time however no attempt at a discount was offered, or at a minimum an apology.

I don’t eat at very many Applebee’s, so when my friend and I knew we were passing though Kearney on our drive to Chicago, we made a point to stop at this location. In a town that has every conceivable chain restaurant, gas station, and big box retail store, Applebee’s is a stand-out for its broad menu. The chicken parmesan was just so-so. And the strawberry lemonade was like drinking pure sugar water, with no signs of real strawberries anywhere. But they did have free refills, in a variety of flavors. And very friendly staff!
