Great food, amazing service from Maria and her daughter! Nicely decorated with a modern touch. All of the food served is great, and the cornbread is out of this world! I love the Southwest Chicken wrap, and the only thing we were not a fan of was the Fried Pickels, because they use sweet Pickels and we prefer Dill pickels. A new appetizer will be the egg rolls and they are so good! I have read some of the reviews and with a 4.5 atars overall means you’ve got to try it!

Good food. Great service. Clean and friendly. Could do without without the country music… but I’m probably not their target market. Also the apple churros with ice cream is the best!

Best Chicken Fried Steak Ever! Their daily lunch specials are a great value as well. The first time I ate there I was served by the owner, Tracy, and my water glass never got to half-empty before she filled it. Homestyle food with family service. I get to Kearney only a few times a year, but when I do, I ALWAYS try to get my JJ’s fix because t honestly is a great value for quality food.

Only have been one time after getting my nails done. The food is home cooked, home style tastiness! I ordered the club sandwich which was mile high with crisp THICK bacon an thick cuts of turkey. I couldn’t complain at all. I’ll write a more thorough review when I order something like their homemade meatloaf. I will definitely return! The staff also is wonderful. PS Don’t forget to try a slice of their homemade pies!

The hubby and I went to this restaurant for brunch on a Sunday mid morning afternoon. He ordered the daily special which was fried chicken plus 2 sides and I ordered the shrimp po boy with fries. The waitress was very good she was sweet a tentative but not overly so I have the shrimp po boy which was spicy and the way they laid it out and made it very hard to eat and they say I have fries for a side which were fine nothing special nothing great. The hubby had the special which was half of fried chicken he got to side with your coleslaw and corn he didn’t like the coleslaw because they had too much mayonnaise in it he said the fried chicken was not good at all it had no taste and was way too dry. We also wanted to mention that it was a diner and 2⁄3 of their menu was breakfast items yet they stop serving breakfast at 11 which left 2 pages of lunch and dinner items to choose from we thought that very odd.

Good food and service is good most of the time. Try the chocolate gravy and biscuits! It is really good!!! Even better when you add a side of crispy bacon and crumble it up on top of it. Absolutely delicious!

Great homestyle food. Kids eat free on Mondays! I recommend: The chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans The Juicy Lucy(this one’s huge!) The under $ 5 breakfast combos Great coffee! Only downsides: Closed on Tuesday now(maybe just for winter?) Service tends to get slow when business picks up, allow extra time.

Very interesting menu, lots of tempting things. Highly recommend the fried avocado appetizer. Disappointed thet don’t make their own onion rings, but everything else is good. The place is a bit hard to find, signage not great but worth asking a local for directions.

J.J.‘s Homestead in Kearney, MO has changed a lot since it opened and not for better. We have had to wait after giving our order for breakfast on a Saturday for more than one hour. The waitress was polite but could only say the kitchen was behind due to a special group. OK but we could have been told that prior to ordering. The food quality varies widely now and on our most recent visit we both ordered the fish & chips special which was not inexpensive. So we were very surprised when. our order was not more than a lunch portion and nothing special in any sense. No one asked us if we enjoyed our meal. It may be we’ve had bad luck but we haven’t been in a rush to return. Someone at J.J.‘s needs to get it together.

I had the all meat omelette. It wasn’t bad… it wasn’t great. It was… good. the hashbrowns were a little flat, like they were slapped onto the flattop and then left there. I typically like mine a little crispy on the top, and chewy on the underside. These were crispy all the way thru. Not necessarily bad, just not how I like them. The omelette was decent. Ham, bacon and sausage were all good flavor. The pancakes… my 11 yo daughter thought they were really good. I thought they were a little… thick and floury tasting. My 7 yo son ate them also. Overall, this place isn’t bad, but it’s not great. Service was ok. Waitress was a little slow filling up coffee cup, but to be fair, she was busy. She did ask if the sodas needed refilling. There is a nice little community atmosphere here, and when we walked in we did not feel like outsiders, sometimes that happens in smaller towns. Would we stop here again? If we were passing thru and were starving, maybe, but we probably wouldn’t plan a stop here as we were passing by on our drive from MN to Joplin, MO.

The food here was really good a lot of it tastes like both of my grandma’s cooking we were not fortunate enough to get recipes from either but this is so close to both.

This place has some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! Be prepared to wait, they cook it fresh, that’s what makes it sooooo good! Wish I had taken a picture. Makes my mouth water, just thinking about it! Waitress was real sweet and the interior is very nice and clean. Will definitely be back! I just read some of the other reviews. Some complained about the interior. The owner must have updated the inside since others have been there. Everything looked new and like I said very clean. I would drive out of my way for JJ’s!!!

I’m very concerned this restaurant is slipping. The last 2 – 3 times the owner is not visible in the restaurant dining area. The process change for customers to pay the wait staff means delays in paying and leaving. Today during lunch, the restaurant was mostly empty on Taco day. Plus, our Taco order took a very long time to come out of the kitchen. Come on J. J’s don’t let your business go to pot!

Food was good, and so was the service. Restaurant needs a bit of updating. We tried this place after visiting The James Farm, and we were looking to eat somewhere local. One of the workers at the farm suggested this place. It was lunchtime, I had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries, and was pleased with it. Not much more I can say, it didn’t «wow» me, nothing fancy, and that’s ok, and if someone asks if they should eat there I’d say yes, but don’t make a special trip for it. But would pick this place any day over a chain and/or fast food place if I’m in that area.

I dont often leave revirws but I felt this experience was something needing ro be shared. We ealjed into the resturaunt around noon on a Sunday to find noone at either the register nor the stand to greet and seat us. After standing there about three minutes. A lady with a tatooed name accross the side of her neck came around the corner to great/seat us. The waitress came over and we ordered some breakfast. She explained they stop serving breakfast at 11AM. And we decided since that was the reason we came, that we would go elsewhere. We thank the waitress and start for the door, up walks this guy(another waiter there?) Who yells across the restaurant at us as we leave. He says«you won’t find somewhere that serves breakfast for 20 miles!» Wow. Just Wow. P. S. We did find our breakfast at the Corner Café in Libery which serves breakfast till 10 pm.

There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids. We stopped for lunch while traveling to KC. Very hard to find, is actually in a small strip mall on south side of street. We nearly got back in interstate. After seeing their signs, thought a reasonable place to try, as opposed to all the chain places. Why don’t they spend some money on a sign near where they are located? Food was good, I ordered the Tenderloin and for me it was good. Better than a chain would stop again

Good food, prices aren’t bad either. It’s kind of hit and miss with service. There’s been times where it’s been great and other times it was lacking.

Although the restaurant is in need of some renovations, the food is decent for the price. The Onion Rings are homemade and very good. Unfortunately, avoid the Tenderloin Sandwich as there is not very much meat and lots of breading. Daughter had the open face Roast Beef and enjoyed it very much. Son had a double cheeseburger with bacon and the bacon was very crispy and the cheese was melted to perfection. The booth we were sitting in needed repairs, but the food was good quality.

The food here was absolutely delicious, yummy Southern cooking!!! You get a lot of it as well and will not leave hungry!!! Great service! Restaurant could use a little updating, but the food more than makes up for the décor!!! Will stop here again next time we come through this way!!!
