The food I ordered did not come with the food listed on the menu. The total was $ 13 and change, I had given the cashier two 10’s and he shorted me and gave me back a dollar. He said«the credit card machine was not working». He send me to the ATM inside the liquor store right on the Ave. The fries were stale and greasy. The sandwich fell apart, it was missing the onion ring. The shake he made was incorrect. I asked for a caramel and I got cinnamon. This place was good went it first opened but has now lost value. I give this a 1 out 5 for false advertising, short change, suggesting to go to ATM, incorrect food order, and horrible quality of food.

12pm lunch on a Thursday. Place was empty and you could hear a pin drop. Had to ring the counter bell just to get the attention of the sole employee hiding in the back. The employee was clearly not knowledgeable of the menu and each item our party ordered, we were told, «sorry, we ran out of that.» we finally had to «build our own» sandwiches using the ingredients they still had in stock. On top of it all, the self serve soda machine was out of ice and we were left with warm beverages. No music, no ambiance, never coming back.

Went there with my friend a few months ago and I thought this place was awful. We were the only two customers and there were probably 10 employees working at the time. We ordered our food and bought bottles of water. A few minutes later we are informed there were no bottles of water. Alright. So we get two cups to fill with water. About 10 or so minutes after we ordered(keep in mind we are the only two people eating at this place), my friend is told they were out of pastrami. How do you run out of stuff when you business isn’t even that busy? After 30 minutes after waiting for our food to come out, it finally arrives and we bite into it. Parts of the sandwich were hot and other parts were cold. I can understand things not coming out the way they are suppose to when a place is packed and busy, but we were the only two people there. I will give fat stacks another chance at some point.

Tried this place for the first time Saturday night(10.17.2015). Love the concept and the food is great. I had it as take-out so i’m not able to gauge if the food would have still been warm on a delivery but I’ll find out shortly because this will be a new go to alternative to Pizza. I found the reviews very helpful. Mostly because I was aware there is an Idiot working the phones. Because of the reviews I was able to circumvent the aggravation. There was a tiny bit of nonsense between the attention span of the person taking my order and constantly being put on hold. She is very busy taking orders, which to me was a good sign but this place could benefit with a better ordering system. They need to implement an online ordering system or sign in with grub hub and I’ll change this to 5 stars.

Tried it for the first time today, well the food was good and pretty much what i expected. The only downfall was they seemed short staffed, the girl who took our order also cooked the food and answered the phone so the food tookna little longer than expected. Also there was no ice in the soda machine. I had the rodeo stack which was a little overcooked but still tasty. Will definitely try again but maybe at a different time of the day.

So this is a pretty interesting concept and they deliver which is nice. Essentially your meal has sides built into a sub sandwich. They have standard creations as well as a build your own option(this is the route I would recommend as it’s easy and you can get exactly what you like). The food quality is ok but it all kinda seems like it was in the frozen foods isle at a Costco. The chicken doesn’t have the right texture and the mozzarella sticks are oddly spongy. I would pay an extra dollar or two for better ingredients for sure. The service people are nice but pretty difficult. I’ve ordered a couple times via phone and this is always a challenge. I saw other reviews about incorrect orders but so far mine haven’t been incorrect abut just takes a while to make sure it’s right. Overall a cool spot and lots of potential. Please add better ingredients!

Great sandwiches, awful and difficult service I’ve been to Fat Stacks quite a few times and I have almost always been satisfied with the food, but disappointed with the service. They need to train the people working the counter more. I spent just shy of five minutes ordering two sandwiches with Jessica on the phone, who messed up my order three times. In addition to the difficulty in ordering, she wrote the wrong address. I asked for delivery to my friend’s house, and she sent it to my home address. Awful service, I would have immediately called and asked to speak to the manager if not for the food itself distracting me. Get your sandwiches here, but ask a friend to order and save yourself the headache.

I was a little bummed to receive the wrong order of fries especially having waited about an hour for delivery. I ordered the fat stack fries but received just regular plain ol’ fries and there was no way I’m waiting another hour or so to have my order fixed :( Regardless of the mix up, I am willing to try this place out again since the sandwiches were decent. Hopefully they’ll speed up their delivery and work on being a little more organized because I am definitely willing to give better ratings my next try!

Had the most delicious sandwich in a very long time. You must try the Viet Stack!!! The meat was extra moist topped w carrots and the house special sauce. I requested extra sirachi sauce on the side and the result was a mouth watering delicious sandwich!!! Def will be coming back very soon.

I came across this place one day as i saw the sign outside and finally decided to try it out this weekend. I had the Greek stack, it was soooo good if your a fan of gyros definitely try this one out. I’m definitely a fan! I also had the buffalo fries, delicious! The owner even came up to us and made sure everything was okay. Definitely cool, you can even build your own stack! I will be returning very soon!

Get the Fat Stack sandwich! It’s filled with chicken tenders, chicken steak, philly steak, Mozzarella sticks and French fries all topped with their very own special fat stack sauce. The Wario stack, jalapeño poppers, fries and shakes are amazing! Add their special fat stack sauce on top of everything and it makes the food that much better. Prices range from $ 2-$ 9 so definitely a great place to stop by even if you’re on a budget. Don’t like what’s on the menu? No problem! You can create your very own fat stack for only $ 1 more.

Ok ok… I KNOW I’m a sucker for a good sandwich, but I also KNOW when I’ve had a great sandwich… and the other day Fat Stacks hit it out of the park! When we got the weekly Unilocal email the other day, we(I went with Kevin G and Adam D) we decided to give this new joint a try. When I saw the menu(similar to the fat sandwiches I used to get at the Rutgers grease trucks) I knew I was going for lunch… even if I had to go alone! So we took the short drive over and ordered three sandwiches– Kevin G made his own … turkey bacon mozz sticks fries ranch on the side. Adam D and I split the Fat Stack(chicken tenders, chicken steak, Philly steak, Mozz stix, fries, and Fat Stack sauce) and the Viet Stack(Marinated Vietnamese Steak, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber, cilantro, mayo, and Sriracha(like a Bahn mi). I got upsold on the drink and cajun seasoned fries, but unless you are STARVING you DON’T need the extra fries. The fries were good(Cajun seasoned) but the sandwich fills you up plenty. Ok, so I personally LOVED both sandwiches, but the Viet Stack was my favorite other than needing just a touch more Sriracha, it was incredible. The combo of the pickled veggies and the marinated beef on the roll simply works! The Fat Stack was also delicious but I felt like I lost the flavor and texture of the chicken and mozz sticks over the deliciousness of the beef and chicken steak meats. My only negative with the sandwich was the fries that were ON the sandwich were a little under done for my liking, but I forgot to ask for them well done. After eating we also tried their shakes. Kevin G ordered a Vanilla and Adam and I both got the mint cookies & cream. I’m a big ice cream guy and this was really my only negative about my meal… the shake, for $ 4.75, wasn’t nearly thick enough or flavorful enough. I don’t know if it was too much milk or just the type of ice cream, but the shakes were just average. Otherwise…place was spotless, we got a parking spot right out front(though parking here is likely to be very difficult as there is only on-street parking), the service was excellent, and I had two half sandwiches which will DEFINITELY bring me back to Fat Stack. I hope this place makes it!

I’m at 3 stars for just a few reasons. 1) The fries are clearly frozen. I probably wouldn’t have as big of a problem with this if the fries weren’t stuffed into my fat stack, or each of the 17 stacks on the menu for that matter. But because they were, they’d be better off with fresh fries like some of the other fresh ingredients in the other stacks(ie. My Viet stack had fresh carrots and cucumbers. If you just want fries as a side, it’s $ 4.25 for a small and $ 5.50 for a large. Kind of pricey considering they’re frozen. 2) The shake didn’t blow me away. It was kind of clumpy and icy. It probably has to do with the brand of ice cream they’re using, but it almost tasted like the ice cream had freezer burn. Other than these two minor setbacks, the sandwiches are quite good, and all very reasonably priced at $ 7.49 each, but you are certain to leave hating yourself. They could could easily scale back the size of the menu to cut some of their food costs and start doing fresh fries. Overall, the staff is very friendly and even went as far as to ask for our feedback. Also, the place is immaculate, but it’s only been open about 1 month as of this review so let’s hope they keep up the cleanliness.

Out of the three fat sandwich places I’ve been to, this one is my favorite. I got the fat stack and it was def worth the price. It was packed with lots of meat and enough sauce to enhance the different flavors. The corn bites was really good too! The workers were friendly. They also asked us our opinions about the sandwiches and how they could improve their food and services. I would def come back. I recommend this place to any foodie out there!

Who needs a drive to New Brunswick to get a fat sandwich anymore?! Just come to Kearny. The sandwiches are juicy and have a lot of sauce to go with the fried deliciousness. The wario stack was good and not too fried and greasy. The chicken actually tasted healthy to me instead of guilty indulgent. Must try the shakes! The mint cookies and cream shake was a great compliment to my sandwich and after my sandwich.

Came back here. I have to give them a 5. Regardless of the parking situation, everything was even better the 2nd time around. I ended up getting the Mario Stack, a Vanilla, Chocolate, and Cookies ‘n cream milkshake, and fries. I’m also happy to hear that the business has been booming here. This fat sandwich place definitely has potential to be a hit market against Fat House in Belleville. Get ready North Jersey, fat sandwiches are making an ambush in the area!

When you think«fat sandwich» — you think of waiting in long food truck lines at your local college campus inebriated, starving for something greasy and deep fried. Even though those days have come and gone, you still have an occasional craving for that comfort food from simpler times. Look no further — Fat Stacks has got you covered. Fat Stacks is a brand new sandwich spot in Kearny that brings the familiar flavors of the most common fat sandwich ingredients(cheesesteaks, chicken tenders, fries), but adds its own flair and creativity. The décor and presentation of the shop is modern yet inviting, the staff is friendly, and the portions are just the right size. Fat Stacks has all the pieces in place for a dining experience that is both casual and fun. Now on to the good stuff. Highlights 1. Viet Stack — banh mi meets fat sandwich. Creative fat sandwich version of the Vietnamese sandwich. Cheesesteak with pickled carrots/daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, sriracha, and mayo. While delicious as originally crafted, sub the hot sauce and mayo for the signature«Fat Stack Sauce» and add a fried egg. 2. Fat Stack Sauce — signature sauce that separates this place from other fat sandwich competitors. I would say it’s similar to spicy mayo, but with a little extra special something. Get it on your sandwich, get it on your fries, get it with everything. 3. Create Your Own — while most of the offered«stacks» are winners, it’s always fun to come up with your own. Who knows what you like more than yourself? Plus, you won’t have to worry about hot oil splattering all over you at home.
