HydroSports Dive and Travel

Great instructor and staff! Mark was very patient with us and answered very little questions we had about scuba diving.

I found Hydrosports through a Groupon and let me tell you it was well worth driving all the way to Salem to obtain my dive certification with them.
They are totally professional, emphasize safety, but also manage to impart a sense of fun and genuine enthusiasm. I became Open Water Certified in September 2013 and just came back from a week long dive trip to Bonaire organized by Hydrosport that was beyond amazing. I can’t wait to dive more using the skills I’ve learned from the awesome dive instructors and dive masters at Hydrosports. Next up, I plan to get my advanced open water certification.

Unfortunately my experience was not so good. During my open water certification dives I was having trouble floating to the surface, I was not instructed on what I needed to do, the instructor seemed to be to preoccupied with getting both of her classes done before dark. Hindsight now I now what I should have done to prevent my problem, but my instructor should have noticed, instead I was asked to end my dive week early Im assuming because they didn’t have time to teach me, so I didn’t get my full certification. I wont be going back I will finish with another dive outfit.

If you have ever thought about learning to SCUBA dive or wanted to try it then HydroSports is the place to do it.
I purchased a Groupon for Discover SCUBA in February for me and two friends. I assumed we would get a quick overview and then try to do it. Instead we got true instruction and a great first experience. Both of my friends and myself felt comfortable and safe the entire time. One of my friends struggled with going underwater, but our instructor took time and really worked with him.
Since completing this I have gone on to complete multiple levels of dive training with various staff members at HydroSports. Each and every one of them has shown a level of competence and understand that blows me away with each class. Mark, the shop owner, has shown that he will take the time to make sure my needs are met and questions are answered.
Overall, if you want to try SCUBA or gain a certification and can find some time to contact the staff at HydroSports (from my experiences there) you won’t be disappointed.

I purchased an underwater housing for my new camera through Mark Fischer. he went OUT OF HIS WAY to get me the housing in time for my big trip to the Cook Islands! He was on phone with manufacturer to get me one of the FIRST production pieces, with double-​overnight delivery. Phenomenal email communication/​updates. SWEET.

I had a Groupon for this, and it was more than worth the price and experience.
Pat was the instructor for my class and was extremely professional and helpful for all members of our class. He made the experience in the classroom and pool sessions entertaining and assisted in all ways possible.
I would highly recommend taking your first steps toward Scuba certification with HydroSports Dive and Travel and will definitely tell my friends that are interested in doing this to take their classes from them, even if you have to drive an hour or so from PDX.
