McDonald Orthodontics

Treatment team is great. Dr McDonald is very knowledgable. However, accounts and billing is disrespectful and VERY difficult. Happy to take checks for thousands of dollars and then wants to add charges for unexpected additions if over 30 days. Will NOT listen to ANY conversation about it and frankly shaming of people despite being current or ahead.
Update: dropping to one star– after review was written my kid was kicked out of Dr McDonald’s practice for me voicing my frustration. I was told that I «broke the bond of trust» so they will no longer see us 11 months into a 24 month contract.

I would recommend people avoid this place if at all possible. True, they have gotten better after the Senior Dr. McDonald retires, I still never had a pleasant experience there in almost six years.
1. At my initial exam, I had bruises around my mouth from how hard they were pulling on my lips, trying to get me to open my mouth wider, which was physically impossible.
2. I had a problem with my teeth that was missed by the doctor, and as a result almost shattered at least 2 of my teeth.
3. I decorated my retainer case so I wouldn’t lose it. When I brought in my retainer, they didn’t like that I had painted it, and threw the case away.
4. I was told my canine teeth would not interfere with treatment but they were larger than normal. When asked if I wanted them shaved down to be more aesthetically pleasing, I said no, and they still were. Now they are almost completely flat.
5. I got scolded by the doctor for using dental wax because the wire on my braces was too long and kept poking into my cheek. He insisted I don’t need wax for braces, and it’s an insult to him to pretend that I do. They refused to believe that the wire was going into my cheek. When they removed it, some cheek skin came with it, and they were all baffled by that because it couldn’t have gone into my cheek like I had been complaining about for almost a month!
I hate this place with a passion, and will never go back! After six years, I am finally free of them, and am not shy about warning others that they may have a not so great experience there.

Great place for braces! Staff is always friendly and professional, Dr. McDonald is knowledgeable, professional, and funny. My daughter is about ready to get her braces off, she’s excited! Her teeth have become very straight since this process has began. Thank you Dr. McDonald and Staff! Keep up the good work!

I want to emphasize that this place has business practices.
They would NOT let me get braces until all my teeth came out. There is no point of having braces as an 8 year old and then some more teeth come out and messed up the smile
