Keller Animal Shelter has changed considerably in the past year. Even though the shelter is small, volunteers have worked tirelessly to clean it up and paint murals. We have managed to get EVERY dog and cat out in the last year. Every animal receives endless love but now with Southlake, Colleyville, Keller and Roanoke combining, there is limited space and no way we can manage to save them all without help from these communities. Often the Humane Society on 1709 is believed to be Keller shelter. The shelter is located behind the Police Station on Pâté Orr. Construction on a new shelter is to begin this month but won’t be completed until 2014. Until then, 4 cities will be using the current facility which only has 12 dog cages and 24 cat cages. People of these communities need to reach out and help by volunteering or fostering.

I can’t in good conscience give Keller Animal Shelter one star, as I feel The City of Keller is doing more good than harm by at least having an animal shelter(unlike Southlake), but there is a lot of room for improvement at this shelter. Fortunately some very kind and concerned people are working on improving it and I hope conditions will soon get better. Until then, the very best thing you could do is to actually adopt from this shelter. The act of kindness you show these animals in need of a home will be repaid ten-fold in the love they give you(I truly believe these animals know when they have been saved and that YOU did it). To see some(not all) of the pets at the shelter, KAS is listed on Pet Finder at If you are thinking of adopting, please stop in and PLEASE be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered when they are of the appropriate age.
