This endearing little local museum highlights Kelleys Island history. For a couple of bucks, you support Island history and pick up a few tidbits of minutiae. Their gift shop has some interesting local artists cards that are nostalgic and sweet. If the church(just next door), which is part of the historical society, is open, pop in for a visit. It’s beautifully crafted with lots of old wood and an interesting religious painting by a local artist. Also, look for the spot on the wall with the signature and the year 1888(?). Be nice to have a short description available to have some interpretation. Also, if visiting in late July/early August, look behind the Church for some heirloom«resurrection lilies» aka«naked ladies». These are beautiful, old fashioned flowers(from bulbs) that are REALLY expensive to buy nowadays($ 5-$ 8 per bulb!). The Historical Society could make some money by dividing their very large patch and selling off the bulbs annually.
