Bad night. Poor food timing. Entrée coming quickly after a late salad course then wrong entrée served. Replacement took too long and cancelled the meal. Not happy. I don’t think we’ll be back though the food that reached the table was good.

This is more of a wine bar then a restaurant. The food is okay, portions are small, dessert was ok! Very pricey for the county!

WOW… what a wonderful surprise this has been. First, I had the Wildhurst merlit, outstanding. Then I had the strawberry salad, so good. I could have eaten a gallon of it. And last, but not least, I have the sesame seed crusted ahi and it was to die for. I could have eaten a gallon of that too. The atmosphere was so enjoyable. I love old houses. I want to go back everyday.

We moved to the area about a year ago and have heard great things about this place. With Calistoga so nearby we have opted to make the drive down the mountain to find great food but decided to give the Saw Shop a try. Menu looks decent enough however as some people have pointed out, they seem to want to toss Gorgonzola on more than a few items. Everything was just okay with the exception of the caesar which had little resemblance to the Tijuana based original(yes the dressing originated in Mexico if you didnt know that.) It was more akin to Applebees and I can only assume the people who liked it on Unilocal also like Applebees. I detest Applebees. I dont think that at anchovy had come within 100 yards of this salad let alone a quality parmesan. A telling tale on the place is the manner in which things were garnished. While the flatbread was tasty, the green onion garnish looked like it was chopped by my 14 year old who was watching television at the same time. All in all, a good place for Lake County but if you get out much, you wont be impressed. The place is owned by a winery family and so their wines are heavily represented and are drinkable.

Good little find. Very friendly service. Attentive, but not over bearings. Most wines are from a local winery, so that’s very cool. Bartender(owner?) is very knowledgeable. Ordered the scallop fettuccine, and was more peppery than I would of wanted.

This is a great restaurant in an area where even good restaurants are hard to find. The burger is amazing, the Caesar salad is a perfect example of what it is and the pot stickers are dialed to perfection. My only complaint is that they’re not open every day or for lunch, though my wallet might be grateful.

My first time tonight and we really enjoyed our dinner. Only complaint was how long it took to pay attention to our table. Potstickers were very good. Nice sides with a very good ribeye steak. Excellent whiskey cake dessert. I’ll be back…

A shadow of it’s former self. New chef unfortunately. Gone are wedge salad, tuna tartar and lamb chops. Are they to hard to make? Most everything has either Gorgonzola or bacon. Only seasoning appears to be salt, in EVERYTHING. No fish on the regular menu any more either. Seabass special was DRY. Pork loin without a bone is NOT a chop. Decent, if expensive burger. Still good service, still VERYLOUD. Looking elsewhere.

Enjoyed a really nice meal here last night with my parents. Bill was an excellent waiter and showed a very generous act when hearing my parents had just lost their home in the big fire up the hill. The meal was delish! My mom said the clam chowder was maybe the best she’d ever had and she’s would know! She always orders it whenever she sees it on a menu. She also had the lobster roll and loved it. My dad had a really tasty rib eye with yummy truffle fries that I couldn’t resist stealing off his plate. I had the tuna special and though it was suppose to be seared and it was cooked through, it was sill a fresh piece of fish. We will definitely go back!

Went with family for Sunday brunch. SLOOOWWW service. Over 2 hours for the experience. Saw waitress checking text messages instead of asking if our empty coffee cups or unending mimosas needed refilling. Husband loved tater tot dish and beet salad. All of our eggs benidict were cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen for rewarming.

It was busy and loud on a Tuesday night, which is a good sign, I suppose. The food was pretty tasty and I liked the happy hour menu, however when I asked the waiter to box up my chicken sandwich and fries, he only gave me my chicken sandwich. He had thrown away my fries without asking! When I asked him where my fries were, he said something along the lines of he assumed I didn’t want them because HE didn’t like soggy fries. I told him, next time, he should ask. And he didn’t offer any compensation. I was flabbergasted– as a waiter, you should never assume to throw away a paying customer’s food without asking first. I was tempted to let the owner know but I let it slide.

What a gem in Kelseyville. Super-cool vibe and the chef and staff are really into what they’re doing. Our server filled us in on the local wines offered and recommended a delicious white from just down the road. We had the delicious Tater Tots(poutine) with beef and cheese sauce and we licked the plate clean. The peach salad was fresh and perfectly dressed. The star at our table, however, was the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Served on a cookie sheet with parchment paper, it was juicy and the bun was out of this world… seeded like an everything bagel. Yum. What a gem in Lake County. Almost everything here is made from scratch in the kitchen, including the fantastic Focaccia they delivered to our table before our meal. Go here if you’re in the area…

Totally packed, impossible to get a drink while you wait, not enough staff to deal with crowd. But… The food is phenomenal.

Very nice restaurant! I had the BBQ burger(½ pound Angus and bacon) and my wife had the Mahi mahi. Both very tasty. A band was playing on the back patio. There was a list of upcoming entertainment each week. I would recommend this restaurant for date night or a group of adults.

Must Eat Here Place! I have had the pleasure of eating here @ 20 X over the past year. This is the go — to place for a lovely meal in Lake County. Consistently great plates: Salmon, Burgers, Fish/Chips, Chili Poblano Curry. Excellent wine list — highly recommend Gergory Grahams Syrah(super affordable!). Deserts sure to satisfy. Service is more than fast, friendly and professional. Not only is the food great… they have fun filled evenings with live local bands. If you get a chance sit in the back building /event center space… spacious and gracious. I have a hard time understanding other Unilocal Reviews that state they had service issues. Yes, you should get a reservation. That is true with any busy popular place, right!!! We easily get one the same day by calling before 5 pm. Super excited they have expanded their hours for Weekend Brunches & Lunches. Keep it up Saw Shop, we love you!

We were here in April and the service and food were fantastic. Our server was very friendly. We had a pizza with meat on it(I can not remember what it was called but it was the only one with meat) and a burger served with fries in truffle oil. My husband has been craving that burger ever since. Tonight we decided to bring our kids and go get one. My husband had chicken with mashed potatoes and I got a BBQ burger medium well. My kids had a burger and the trailer park macaroni and cheese. My burger arrived rare and the fries covered in pepper. Not like last time at all. I know I could have sent the burger back but my kids had waited a long time to eat and had become incredibly bored. I couldn’t see making them wait the time to cook another burger and sit around while I ate it. My son’s burger had been ordered the same and his was pretty pink but more cooked than mine. The bill arrived and the macaroni and cheese that was on the menu for $ 8 was billed at $ 9. Our total was $ 78.xx. We put down a $ 100 and the waitress asked if she had to give us change.

This is honestly the best food in the county. I always look forward to coming to the Saw Shop for dinner and now brunch is served! My only disappointment is that I can’t get there more often. Excellent service; and the owner is a great community advocate and contributor. I highly recommend this place!

I tried to go here for Mother’s Day in 2014 with my wife and two friends who were vacationing with us. All of the locals referred us to go to this bistro. I called the restaurant to check if it was open and had room for 4. The lady who answered the phone said they were open and to come on by. Twenty minutes later we arrived at the restaurant. When I walked inside I saw a busy restaurant with waiters/waitresses carrying beautiful plates of food that smelled amazing. I and my group stood for about 10 – 15 minutes waiting to be acknowledged and seated. I understand it was a busy place but I’ve been to much busier restaurants and would at least be recognized and greeted. I then begin to notice a unwelcoming tension from the waiters and waitresses and some of the patrons either give a eye role or a leery stares. Finally I found a staff lady to talk with and mentioned that I called about bringing a group of four. Quickly the lady said all tables are booked for Mother’s Day today even though there were a few tables available. I was a bit shocked and upset and exited apologizing to my friends and wife. I’m not one to throw out racism simply because things don’t go my way. But my experience was unusual being that I gave a courtesy call, spoke with a welcoming staff lady, but had a less than welcoming experience as soon as I stepped foot inside the restaurant. I felt my presence was not wanted for whatever reason that maybe. It is possibly that maybe the staff person miscommunicated not realizing that the restaurant was already at full capacity? Of course. That doesn’t explain the strange mood change and looks that occurred from staff as soon as I stepped foot in the door. Maybe the lady thought I sounded white over the phone and failed to mention blacks will be treated differently at the the door. Either way I got the point and will never return to this bistro.
