I hired them to cater my event. I thought everything was arranged and have been trying to make some final arrangements. Not answering phone and no call backs in a week. I am forced to find new caterer with 3 days until event.

The aroma as we walked into the place was very inviting. It went downhill from there. The potato salad was very bland. It had no seasoning. I got a brisket sandwich expecting slices of brisket. It was all chopped up in little cubes. I tasted my wife’s mac & cheese. It was also pretty blah no cheese flavor and odd sized macaroni. Maybe because it was a Wednesday night there wasn’t a lot put into making the meal. I was expecting much much more after reading the most recent reviews. My wife’s chicken had a smoky skin, but it didn’t appear completely cooked

Per my wife who grew up in the south, this really is good barbecue. We love it and the sides are awesome too, especially the Mac and cheese. Definitely worth trying out!

Great smoked meats! Well trimmed and smoked Brisket. Family owned very decent prices. $ 50 for 6 people with lots of leftovers.

Stopped on our way top Seattle and was not disappointed! Had a good brisket and some very yummy mac n cheese and great conversation with the owner! All home made and delicious. I would highly recommend giving it a try.

And through the smoky goodness I tasted the sweet favor of hot spicy smoked meat. The owner was friendly and walked us around, showed us the smoker, his plans for putting in a handmade sauage room, and his desire to make the best meals he could. The latest upgrade he made was in his chef. He worked with dozens of chefs until he found one that served his wonderment for smoked meats and great southern sides. We drove over 100 miles and tripped over this rare gem. This is where ill be eating lunch next week and I live 5 minutes from Adam’s Ribs in Salem. Please make the trip there and try it.

We tried Hickory Hogs about a month ago and went back again last night. We are very pleased with the flavors and portions. We got the Sampler last night which included 2 pork ribs, 2 beef ribs, puled pork, brisket, 2 pieces of chicken and 2 sides for just $ 25. Neither of us like sauce much so it is nice to see that they don’t slather everything in sauce. I highly recommend this place.

They are doing so much better. They are getting more busy too. I had the pulled pork combo meal. The pulled pork pork, I tasted before putting any sauce on it. It was weird that it wasn’t covered in sauce, but the flavor was so good. What a nice surprise that was! The homemade sauce is super good, and I am way picky about that. The mac and cheese could use a little more flavor, for me anyway. If my three year old grand child could write on here, she would say the mac and cheese was awesome. She barely eats a thing, and yet ate hers and then mine. I give high marks to the cole slaw, also something I am picky about. The décor could use some help for sure. This is a pretty new business though, so I am content to go there for the good meal. Hopefully they will keep busy and make enough money to spend some on fixing the place up. In the meantime I look forward to trying the pork ribs next. I love that we have a BBQ place here. It’s maybe not pretty enough to be a first date place. It is better now than the earlier reviews, everyone seems well trained now. It’s a great place for us to go for a good meal around here.

The other reviews here are spot on so I won’t repeat them. Only thing I’d add is that the menu is limited and you can’t order a combo plate to sample all the meats. It probably doesn’t matter though because it lacks flavor and is a weird texture(more minced than pulled).

I was excited for this place to open as there was a lot of hype in the local paper and on FaceBook about how great the food is and how nice the remodel of the restaurant turned out. Upon walking in the door I was taken aback as I was expecting a more inviting atmosphere but nothing made me feel like I was in a quality BBQ restaurant. The first thing you see is the bar. There were animal heads mounted on the white walls in one corner, awkwardly placed tables and booths with little consistency in the furniture, and not even a hint of a BBQ aroma. It was pretty drab and chilly and to top it off was a wooden toilet seat mounted on the wall behind the cash register. The waitress attempted to seat us as we awkwardly stood around waiting for her direction until she finally asked where we wanted to sit. she took good care of us but had a tendency to hover as we were the only customers in the place. The pulled pork sandwich I order was just okay and my Mac & Cheese side seemed to be lacking in the cheese and seasoning department. The strongest flavor I got was the taste of a plain cooked noodle. The most disappointing thing overall is that nothing has a BBQ/smoked taste. When it came time to pay for our meal the waitress did not seem to understand the concept of splitting the check. My friend ended up paying and I payed him back. These guys have a little work to do.
